Just as a note because I sometimes have an obsession with chemistry: be EXTREMELY careful when working with vinegar and/or other household cleaning products. Certain combinations (i.e. vinegar and bleach) can react and create toxic fumes. Do your research before you mix or burn anything. Also, certain acids like wine or vinegar react with basic substances like baking soda to create salts.

From my observation: "natural born witch" term is used to romanticize and create "chosen one" vibes :), but sometimes is used as shortcut of saying that one is born with some magical abilities (often associated with but not limited to witches only), usualy clair senses, mediumistic abilities etc. in active state - so one has to deal with lot of magical stuff very early in life and is forced to either become a witch (or rather pracitioner) to protect oneself or will be F-d up in life (nasty stuff - people going from one snake oil salesman to another, self-harm, self-medicating, substance abuse or worse). Most of people that are "natural born" with some abilities consider it a curse. It's like learning how to swim by being thrown overboard in the middle of the lake. Not funny :/

Apparently, my whole family has at least a bit of medium abilities. I once met a woman who could sense energies and stuff, and first thing she did was ask me if I see supernatural stuff.
I don't (that I know of), but one of my aunts does (she hates it). That aunt and my grandma have both had premonitions in dreams, and my younger brother used to see things when he was little.

In my house, incense, candles, herb burning, and even room sprays are heavily avoided because they can heavily impact and even be detrimental to rats health. I tend to build up a collection of candles and incense and then burn them between mischiefs 😂😭

    • @ChaoticWitchAunt
      @ChaoticWitchAunt  Год назад

Oh yes, 100% - there are definitely particular cultures that have beliefs around being naturally connected to energy. In Italian folk magic, being born on a certain day could protect you from the evil eye or being born with a caul would mean they will be a healer. I think I get tripped up because "witch" is such a broad term - it doesn't mean medicine woman, healer, or shaman. Witchcraft, to me, is so so many things and there are many things it's also not. I don't consider shamans or medicine women to be "witches", nor do I consider beliefs around being born a healer to mean witchcraft. This may also be the folk practitioner in me talking where I feel like the delineation is incredibly important.

The thing she did with her significant other using the egg is called an egg cleanse. By reading the yolk you can see what's going on within for spiritual and health reasons. Definitely a good ritual to use if you don't have all your ingredients. It's a basic witch tip I so recommend. If you don't know how to do it definitely read up on it. :)

love the video, as someone that is learning completely isolated from anyone else in a repressive environment, it is extremely helpful to get little videos like this! it is so easy to get incorrect information online & it is hard to know what to trust or believe.

20:00 I don’t think that someone can be born a witch, however, and also as you said, it can be like a predisposition, as it for example is in my case, where the interest in witchcraft and spirituality occured in 3 generations, all in the close family memebers of mine

Commenting as I'm watching but the video near the beginning where they're hanging up flowers they were gifted - I have used gifted flowers to make agua de (whatever the flower is, like roses for example). Ive then used them for anointing candles mainly, though they can have a variety of uses. I like to think that part of the sentiment of the person giving me flowers gets tied into the water too. If it was a friend, the water can be used for making even more friends. If its a partner, the water can be used for attracting even more love, or even more love in the relationship if it has continued (*Disclaimer because its RUclips and people often only ever take things at face value - if a relationship is so bad that you have to do spells to turn it around, maybe you should just leave. That said, its normal for even happy and healthy couples to constantly work on building their relationship, and that is the situation I am specifically bringing up in this scenario). The petals and stems could also be crumbled and used for dressing a candle or as something in a spell. Very handy, honestly.

My grandma always used to call me a natural witch because I’ve always be in tune with nature and magick and I’m a very very fast healer. my great grandma, grandma and mother were all witches so its nice to imagine I’ve been passed down a little power from them.
Also, How do you get coffin nails? Is there a way to just purchase them somewhere?

I started trying witchcraft in the first lockdown, when I was 12, and got basically all my information from TikTok. I was mostly following things from random cultures not to do with me (nothing closed but still) and I ended up with spiritual psychosis lmao so I had to stop. Now I’m trying to get back into it but I think there needs to be a serious conversation about spiritual psychosis/religious OCD in online witchcraft spaces because it can have really serious consequences and many people don’t even know it’s a thing.

I agreed with you on the soulmate thing. I believe in them but not in the way a lot of people talk about them. I don't believe it's one person or the one person you're ment to be with but soul ties from past lives. They could be a friend, a pet, family members, a lover or someone that cared enough about you to wand to be connected to you in the next life but not specifically a lover. You also don't have to be with or romantically interested in a soulmate.

I think the weirdest/coolest thing was when I made a potion. It was bright red, and I put it in a sealed cauldron for 3 days. When I took it out, it had turned a vibrant blue. 😅

    Great video!
About the match using techniques: in Hungarian folk belief, matches are lit and then thrown into water (accompanied with a certain charm) to tell if someone is suffering from the evil eye, and the water itself is then used to cure it. This practice is present in the Slavic cultures surrounding Hungary. So, maybe this is the origin, but who knows for sure?🤷
Also, just a tiny nitpicking... if you look at the actual witch trial records of Europe, then it was not only the minorities and marginalized people that got into trouble for witchcraft. Yes, there were a lot of those, but saying "only them" is a bit of an oversimplification.
And finally the "folklore=witchcraft" thing drives me nuts... Really, your grandma was not a witch just because she knew kept garlic in her kitchen to keep away bad spirits....😮‍💨
