Arranged by James O'Donnell - Organist and Master of the Choristers of Westminster Abbey.
This was sung at the Commonwealth Day Service 2020 at Westminster Abbey, on Monday 9th March 2020.

You can't beat those wonderful old hymns.
My father passed away on June 27, 2023 and when the funeral services started packing up their speakers, this was one of the hymns that i had downloaded and played on my portable speakers to fill the empty void as his coffin was placed into the hearse.
Later on June 29, 2023 as his coffin was preparing to enter the cremation chamber, from the viewing gallery, I took out my mp3 player and played this hymn through my portable speakers and just as the hymn ended, his coffin was slowly moved by the machine into the creation chamber.
I cannot say how this hymn kept me in check as much as i wanted to cry my eyes out, i had to maintain a strong front for my family as the only child and for my mother and extended families.

You obviously have not heard the Vienna Boys Choir or the full Choir of St Peter’s in Rome! We Catholics can belt out a tune like no one else! I suppose it is difficult for those who do not understand Latin but my God, when in full swing it is like hearing the Angels sing!
Michael Behan I understand. I most definitely have heard the Vienna boys choir. These people singing in this you tube look very dour; only duty bound. Remember; if we do great things, but don’t love, we’re like a sounding gong. I’m all for gusto and belting out a hymn, but only if it’s genuinely sung. It has nothing to do with being Catholic. I’m not catholic and our church belts them out with gusto and heart...

Whenever I listen to it, I get goosebumps. Nothing beats a typical British hymn. Just brilliant
100 per cent in agreement the British especially here in Westminster Abby play these hymns where I also get goosebumps. I believe the Queen was a true believer in Christ but not sure of anyone else in her family
Charles Wesley was the reason why I started hymn writing in the first place as I am a hymn composer by God's grace.

We sang this very hymn at the Memorial Service for The Queen's mother, the late Queen Elizabeth in St Paul's Cathedral, London April 2002. I was on an Easter trip to England from Augusta, GA when the Lady passed away. The BBC had the congregation practice the hymns before the service to insure perfection before broadcasting worldwide. I'm not over it YET!

This hymn was chosen at my beautiful Daughter's first wedding. The words relate the Perfect and beautiful Perfect Love of God which awaits us, and these words are magnified in the words "glory in Thy Perfect Love". What true and beautiful words!
She is in Australia with her two beautiful grown up children. Lord I did "seek first the Kingdom of God". Please Lord and our Mother of Heaven please look after them, love and protect them and eternally, help them and keep them in Your miraculous Love and give them reassurance too. Please send our Heartfelt Love to them too and please protect them. Help me/us to really help them too.

I very nearly chose this as the closing hymn for my wedding. It was important that two of the hymns mirror mine and my husband’s heritages (Scottish and Welsh respectively). For Scotland I chose Spirit of God, Unseen as the Wind; for Wales, it was Guide Me, O Thou Great Redeemer that won in the end

She was at my church with her brother and sister-in-law having the latter’s banns of marriage read out iirc (they were getting married soon) and this was the closing hymn that day, they were in the pew behind me and picked out my singing. I could remember vividly this hymn was sung during my confirmation service in 1996 @ Holy Trinity Cathedral, Lokoja. Kogi State. When the then bishop Rt Revd George Bako (OON) Rtd, mounted on the pulpit for sermon. Tears rolled from my eyes. I felt like I was in heaven. I love this hymn 205. Two weeks before the U.K. first lockdown- very weird seeing a church packed like that!
I love this tune so much I specially chose this hymn as one of my own wedding's hymnal in 2014. I remember vividly how I could not find a right tune-to-text version and I had to manually photocopy two seperate versions, one with the text on a different tune, another of the tune with different text, and cut out the text from the wrong tune version and paste it line by line, verse by verse over the tune with the wrong text, to submit the final "surgically bound" version to the church.

Another top favorite of mine, here sung in the key of G. Sometimes it's in Ab, with the resulting top note as high F. Hymn singing is one of the greatest British traditions and it's never fully satisfying without powerful organ support. On these special occasions the military band adds to the uplifting experience further. Many thanks for sharing, adding the subtitles and introductory details.

I think Blaenwern has crossed the Atlantic and the compilers of hymn books just need to match it with the words. Goes the other way as well. Found it odd singing this hymn to Hyfrydol. Guess it what you are used to.

Blessed is the nation indeed that reaches out to the world with the unchanging message and salvation offered through the appeal of the Lord Father God Yahweh and the Saviour our Lord Jesus Christ. . At a time of division, King Henry the 8th in controversial times had the guts and conviction to make the split with Rome. This has resulted in blessings so many times repeated for the green fertile land of the United Kingdom. Her Majesty, the Queen, as a Christian herself, has made a lifetime commitment to the 'Kingdom of God' described in the New Testament by the Lord Jesus Himself. This Commonwealth Service is something that expands exponentially beyond all expectation, to the point that peoples and tribes are being drawn into salvation, peace and an understanding of Christ Jesus in their lands.
We desperately need repentance and a great turning away from sin towards Jesus

So many people in the world today deny Jesus Christ, and view the old testament as a composition of folklore stories that can be relegated to the land of mythology because it was so long ago. Yahweh is without time, and all those faithfully recorded histories from the beginning, and the exodus from Egypt , testify to a supreme supernatural being who is the complete zenith of knowledge, power & authority. There is a Hell, and The Lord Jesus came to deliver us from it. John 3:16. . May the souls of mankind be awakened to the very truth.

Our divine transformation at different levels, as God embraces us as we are taken there, from here(earth), in the fuller Love of God, obviously hidden in Jesus, most likely because of Jesus Promise of return to us.
The latter could be better expressed but I just wanted to truly reassure you all, that in spite of these awful special times , so to speak, that God really does love us! His ways are not our ways and He truly is Almighty!
All I really just wanted to say sincerely, is to give Queen Elizabeth II, all my good wishes for continued good health, happiness and love. I do hope that you keep well. I have a feeling that you are very much loved. At moments I love you too, ( I think that is so due to my Prayer), regardless of all the awful divisions etc., and I hope that you know that your people want you to keep well and be happy. I so wish I had written to you professionally, yet my life has truly been taken up , so to speak, as one long (yet short, regardless of decades) Holy Prayer. Truly!
