I am in my late 20s with a rusty J-Body car as my daily driver. I have only tried welding a couple times the past year and was told that i did a pretty smooth job. Your videos on this severely rusted car are giving me the encouragement to try some big cut out rust replacements.
@Duncan Marcellus yeah! I watched movies and sat on my ass all weekend smoking pot and beating my bird and that fixed my rust problem right away! Thanks Flixzone!
bob the metal can make a perfect steel shape everything like brand new rocker panel all welded all even out.i watched his video amazing skill.all handmade no buying factory pieces.
@0.49 how did you weld the inside of the rocker panel, like the support to the floor? The rocker panel is part of the Structure in a unibody car, if not repaired correctly you will have a unsafe car in case of a collision.
Why people that show this kind of repairs NEVER consider that rust comes from the inside out and the panel needs to be treated in the back so the repair will l last? To make it look good on the painted outer surface is not enough. In fact, it is a waste of time because time and again I have seen the rust come back in the same area. Drill a hole through which you can either spray undercoating or rust converter or oil after you weld so moisture will not cause damage again. Then you can cover the hole with a rubber plug (measure the rubber plug before you dig the hole to ensure a good seal).
Lesson people, oil your cars if you buy them new , or if 2nd hand oil them to slow the rust down. Drip oil like Krown not waxy tar based stuff....that just traps moisture.
Where should you apply it? I have a pontiac and I'm worried about the rocker panel moldings trapping in rot, but I also am concerned about the underbody.
At that point why not just scrap it, that frame is so far gone that even welding wouldn't be practical because you would have to basically weld yourself a new frame, and that car is probably pretty old anyways.
Like how dose a car get that rusty. I live in a snowy wet climate and I have no rust at all cause I do the maintenance required to keep it from rusting. Anyways nice repair
The snow or wet climate doesnt make it rust. Its the fucking salt they drop all over the roads. It's terrible here in Wisconsin. Shit eats your car alive.
Hi there Beautiful job you did there. Is there any way to get in touch with you thru pivate message ? I ve got a mercedes 208D with severe rust. Where are you based mate ? Cheers
This video didn't show any of the critical "how tos", except sawz-all and paint. Would've been nice to show how and where you marked out the lines, cut them to fit, what you used for welding, and how and where you welded, ect. ect. Didn't learn anything about repairing. Seems like a "See what "I" did?".
RUclips is full of useless videos like these. People in need of help to fix something need more than a montage of instant results with no in between. It went from a still badly rusted out sill to one with the new one grafted in. Quite useless
He's rebuilt the engine and fixed the design flaw that causes oil burning in the process. This Saturn should never burn oil as long as it's maintained. If you can get over the oil burning thing or fix it they're extremely reliable, easy to work on, and get excellent mileage.
Alan Ackaway I'm doing it for self education. I know the car is not worth anything but this is the car that I have self-learned auto repair on. One day I would like to build a classic but I figure I'll get my experience on something... less critical.
+DoSumpthin I agree, I once rebuilt a rusted out worthless car and got criticized for it but everyone ignored the experience I was gaining from doing it.
+DoSumpthin Job well done! i did that to my old beaten ford truck 9 years ago, i weld ,do the engine, and paint it just to educate myself, now i have my small restoration shop doing classic mustangs and chevy....

That's gotta be the rustiest Saturn I've ever seen. Lucky that someone who can weld got a hold of it.

How did you do?

I have heard that some farmers oil their farm equipment to prevent rust.
Pup Dog That is true. I have a farmer friend who does.
I heard about the Farmer that acquired 2 acres.his wife kicked him in his kiwis

Looks good. I'd def spray glue some carpet on mine
I have a Rusty Toyota Starlet. Should I Keep it or Sell it if it has a bad rust ??
I wish you could look at our 2001 Ford Escape and repair the rust on it
I have a rusty frame and 2 holes in my sway bar. It won't pass inspection. 19 years old. How much to repair. If possible.
Is a 1995 car really worth fixing?
that's not the only place it was rusted...time to scrap it
Great job sir!!!! Thank you for the video, by any chance, are you in IL?
I would have rebuilt the scrap car which was in better condition.
The scrap car could’ve been totaled you can’t tell
I wish I know Where you live?. I love my Saturn and I bought it and found out my frame is rusted. 😥😥😥
did u spray self etch on the inside of the matal
Man, saturns are throw away vehicles.Time for the junk yard!
Instead of using a piece from another car could you use sheet metal and form one
Do you do repair on all frames
alot work, nice video

Could have filled it up with Bondo and painted it like a lot of crooked shops due
Your SawZaw is The Perfect MetalCutter Because The Sawzaw Cut Through That RockerPanel.
Where the hell do you live? The bottom of the Atlantic Ocean?
That's pretty bad rust. even my 93 Civic isn't this bad and it lives in Canada with a bunch of snow and ice
Man did you get that thing from the sea?
I would’ve sent that Saturn to the junkyard
That rust looks the same as my teeth lol
Holy shit...
holy fuck mann drive that to the junk yard
My truck frame would be full of holes as well if I used a drill to remove anything...
It’s a needle scaler
I take it that this car is from the salt belt.
you mean rust belt ?
CR2504life Yeah.
Yeah, Rust Belt.

Holy hell this is the worst rust in a video I've seen haha. I live in Upper Michigan and even I haven't seen rust this bad.
So, I need to find the exact cad to repair my car.
ok
That thing is roached 😂😂
Lot of work for that car... Any reason your putting so much money and time into a car thats well know to excessively consume oil? Anyways nicely done.
