i still have my neato, almost 10 years now. No app, no side brush, no internet connection, but was the first with lidar and aside the tired battery, its still kicking.
I had a D5 a few years ago. I loved it until it just stopped doing a full run. Just found out today that my husband found a good deal on the D6 and ordered it for me. Hopefully this one will keep running for several years without too many issues. I always make sure to clean the machine regularly and put new filters or brushes as needed. With 6 people and 4 pets in our house, I will run the vacuum at least twice a day.
I have a D6 that would fail to recognize the room, refuse to work, often refuse to go under the dining room table (other robovacs have no problem) and occasionally miss entire rooms in my house. After 18 months it straight died and needed a mainboard to repair it. Now it's back to its navigation issues self again. One thing I never had a problem with was battery life. Mine would do the four rooms on my main floor without any issues and dock around 45%. Funai gave me an extra battery and installed a new laser turret when they did the mainboard. I've seen reviews of the new Neato line and it looks like they still have nav issues and they haven't added any features. Once I sell this one, I'll never touch another Neato again.
Just ordered a D9 to replace my 3 yr old Eufy C30. The Eufy still does a fair job but has real issues with its random picking up fir needles even running in max mode at all times. I will miss the Eufy’s slim height that get under most of our furniture. I see recent RUclips posts where people are still having serious issue with the new Neatos. I have to wonder if they have installed the recent update.
Great test. I prefer these a bit shorter tests and maybe an update if they can handle your full house on one or several charges. Also your testing room is great. Just missing testing of thresholds. I'm a big fan of the Neato robots since they have awesome suction, good pickup of dust. but too bad they miss outer corners and many crevices. Software need even more updating and Neato is not as good at that like Roborock. My Neato D75 died a couple of weeks ago when the docking base-station died. I have had that one since 2016.
This is the first video I've seen of yours. You said the d4 had the second best suction, what's the first? I have the d4 and I love it. The only hesitation I have of getting the d8 is that they changed the way you do no go zones and I really don't like what they have done. If I felt I could get an updated version of the d4 I would upgrade I just don't feel neato has done that.
i think the Neato D10 has a 300 minute runtime, and the battery made for the D10 can be put into the D8.. which would make the D8 run for 300 minutes? idk
Adam yesterday I got the neato d8 and it took MANY tries to get it to connect to WiFi but it did and it is currently mapping my house and so far so good
Seems good to me, I'm seriously considering the D9 because of all of the issues people have had with the D8. I wanted the D9 since the D8 doesn't have specific zone control and some other missing features the D9 and D10 have
Im wondering which I should get. The Dreambot D9, or this robot cleaner. they're both in a really appealing price point but I cant quite figure out which one Im gonna be better off with, I know this cleaner has had its fair share of issuse, but looks to be fixed. the D9 overall had decent reviews, but Im just kinda stuck. got any advice?
Hey Adam, another great one. I’m wondering if you figured out why it sat like a lump at the initial start. I was thinking that looked like maybe the new software was downloading a new firmware to the robot? Had you previously run it after the software update or did it already confirm that it updated the robot? Has it done that duh moment again? Also, wouldn’t it be something if Shark adapts their double roller from the Apex and Vertex to a robot, perfect it and go from trash to king of the robots, especially with the hair choppers. That would be something. I was also expecting more carpet fuzz in there. Did it get all the jelly beans, it looked like it did. Thanks!
Hi, it picked up everything. Not sure why it just sat there...first time out with new update. I am once again having issues with it which I will show in a video real soon.
I've had a D4 for the last 3 years and if you watch in the app while it generates the map, that is what it is doing. it uses the lidar to scan the current room prior to starting up, since he had not run it in some time, it would have been making a new map (at least the D4 replaces its map regularly with a newer one) and that first run it can sit there a long time, future runs start up faster, but it still does an area scan before moving. (I only have a D4 that runs 4 times a week for almost 3 full years now, but might be getting a D10 since it is on sale right now)
What's the point of it doing straight lines only to have it cut across them at the end & leave some stupid looking pattern. These robot vacuums should be doing edges 1st & then be doing straight lines through the general area. It should also do areas further away from the base 1st so that it doesn't finish far away & create some random line as it returns.
All so I love roombas ever sense I got the Eufy 11s I love roombas then I saw these Chanel and I was so happy with it so I had subscribe thank you for all the good work 😀🙂
I'm replacing a Samsung R7040 that's D-shaped, we've had very little issues with it over the last 4 years, it's mapping SUCKS and has zero features to pick anything like no-go or anything like that, but it does have an IR remote control as well as app manual control. That physical remote we used every day because we'd use it for spot cleaning as well as manually starting and stopping it without bending over. weird that no other companies do remotes anymore. i suppose phone will do. We're replacing the samsung because it just suddenly got 'dumb', it can't find it's way home almost ever anymore, so we eveyr day we find it out dead. we thoguht it was the battery so i replaced it, and same issue. thought it was the base station, replaced it, same issue. reset it to factory defaults, same issue. no error codes, no notifications, it just goes to it's base station, looks right at it, and then charges to the right of it, crashes and sometimes knocks it's base station over a few inches, and then goes into 'limp home' mode, and bumps into every wall around the house forever until it's battery dies. I think it's the IR sensors. either way, time for a new one.
@@AdamsReviews I know. I originally ordered the AI+ and they canceled my order after 60 days. So I went ahead and ordered the non AI model, which I see you did 2 videos on but not a thorough review. I have had it for a few days now, and after getting used to the app, I can tell you that it works great. I was just wondering what your thoughts are on it. I am glad I didn’t waste the extra $600 for the AI version. The benefits seem minimal in hindsight for that much extra money.
Neato is owned by Vorwerk. I wonder if it is German mismanagement of the company by introducing too much burocracy while offering too conservative investments to make s difference in a rapidly evolving field to explain how Neato went from being innovative to gaming so far behind.
ROBOROCK, you’ve always listened to us, so here you go with more suggestions. D SHAPE, with FULL RUBBER EXTRACTOR BAR like on the S7, but wider SOME SCREEN on the robot or on the dock to replace ordinary buttons WASHING + EMPTYING TOGETHER, please! At least 4000 PA Suction (or airflow exceeding 24 CFM) Something like this better be on your future products, maybe the S8
ROBOROCK definitely listened. The s7 MAXV Ultra check emptying and washing and suction exceeding 4000 PA. The upcoming X7 WashVac checks the D-Shape design with a full rubber extractor bar. Only thing missing really is the touchscreen. (And some other stuff I didn’t mention.)
Neato D8 is the worst vacuum ever. I have owned a Neato vacuum for 10 years and will never buy another. You will waste you time setting it up only to come home and find the vacuum in the middle of the floor blinking and that is about all it does. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!

@J Z hahah indeed. Maybe another neato if their app runs in foreign voice assistants.
I have a Neato Signature, I think I got it in 2014, still going strong!!
@@pgwar22 Me too! Since 201. Looking for a new one now. I mutilated the dust bin and brush cover
Neato xv-11 . Is the model number I have with my custom firmware
I have a neato d9 and a d6. The d6 is only about a month old and the d9 is about 2 weeks old now, both fairly new

What a difference a year makes - Adam, you should take another look. I just bought a new D8 with firmware 1.7.0-2749. Works great so far.
I will have to try it.
My D8 is now as good as my D7 so I’m very happy. Nothing beats the CFM these have at normal mode.

Buy a roomba.
I have a d4 and d8 and find myself being better off with a standard vacuum.

How is the S9, does that work ok?

One of the big names in Robotic vacs, but recently specifically this model is bad , I hope IRobot switch to Lidar
