    This is really well made. My friend sent me this tutorial and at first I kind of thought it would be useless to me because I am already a very fast typer. However, that part about scanning really hit home and I have the exact problem you described, so I am going to start practicing that now. Great video!

      That's great to hear. I find that a lot of typers kind of plateau and then stop improving but working on separating your brain from from your fingers with scanning can help you think ahead more.

    Hey Anson, the best aspect of your video was that you empathized with the thoughts and feelings of beginners. The frustration, sometimes the uselessness of doing something mechanical, and the goddamn its! I think you also ought to emphasize that the feeling one gets when there's improvement in knowing the position of keys without looking is priceless, and that incremental progress acts as a motivator. Bye, all the best, all the way from India.

      I disagree, respectfully. If you're a 'beginner' you shouldn't even be here, there are better places to learn the basics of typing and commiseration is just feeding your emotions not actually teaching you something useful. There's a crucial difference between "This guy understands my frustrations" and "This guy has useful information to convey". The former is not useful to the latter. If this content provider wants to commiserate with beginners then he should just make a video to that effect and not waste my and others time with commiserations.

    Could you make a video on the Almena Method, please?

    • @AnsonAlexander
      @AnsonAlexander  Год назад +1

      I will think about it. I don't know too much about it but, I do know, that if you actually want to type fast and accurate you have to put in the time and effort and "The Almena Method" seems too good to be true so I am very skeptical.

    I have been typing for over 45 years, and yes I did a 12 month course in typing and shorthand. While I agree with some of the points you raised, especially for beginners, no matter how fast (or want to type) and be efficient and fast in getting things done, accuracy is the number 1 rule. Without accuracy, your end product will consist of errors, riddled with punctuation, comprehension and unprofessional in your work effort. I can confidently type without looking and I do a lot of digital transcription work, however, the end goal is for accuracy, as the end result will be displayed on a webpage. I would rather feel good knowing that a document I created or transcribed is error free rather than have to go back and correct errors that I could have avoided from the start. Type slowly and accurately is my message.

      Yes, absolutely, I never promote not typing accurately! Have you watched my Top 10 Typing Mistakes video? You'll see how hard I hammer home how important accuracy is. Whenever I talk about typing fast, I'm talking about typing fast while being accurate. I guess the accuracy part was too implied in this video but, I definitely agree, accuracy is the most important aspect of touch typing and I would never promote otherwise. My preference, however, is to type perfectly accurate AND FAST - at the same time. :D

      Thanks! That was one of my main goals with this video because, at the end of the day, touch typing is all about practice so it's my hope that through these lessons, learners will become more motivated to take their typing to the next level.

    This video should say " for absolute beginners." Even the tip for "advanced typists" was scanning ahead, and who hasn't heard that, if they've ever heard anything about typing at all?
