Rode one of these at a local demo event last weekend. I can tell ya this bike is waaaaay more comfortable than my Street Glide Special. In fact it rode so smooth and the seating position was perfect I was actually going out of my way to hit bumps. On the highway with the windshield up had zero head buffet. Best compliment I can give it is that in a 30 minute ride I was seriously wondering what they would give me in trade on my 2018 Street Glide Special. It's a great bike with lots of power.

I was pretty disappointed with the ride quality of my 2017 Street Glide which is why I traded it in on a Transcontinental Venture. If you want a true touring bike, check out the Venture, it's a whole different animal.

Great to see you at the event Dan! I rode the Challenger as well and loved how smooth it was! It felt strange going from it back to my Vaquero lol. I tried the Chieftain Dark Horse, Scout Bobber 20, and the FTR as well and enjoyed them all! Maybe next year if they do the event again I'll think about trading up!

Dan, I had a chance to, "Throw a leg over" a Challenger Dark Horse and I found what you found; at only 5' 8", I was amazed and how comfortable I felt. It felt light and I stood it right up. I've been riding my 2018 Scout for a little over a year but I need something for longer rides/touring. I had my heart set on the Springfield but after hearing about this bike, the performance, the near-zero wind and buffeting and the light feel, it looks like going to go for the base model. It's only $1k over the Springfield two-tone. It's a no-brainer for me. I'm glad you liked it! BTW, where are you? Looks a lot like AZ. Ride safe!

How many people were pissed when they bought H-D 107's then they came out with the 114's. I don't usually drive 5 hours round trip into the big city, but when i do is because i want to get something and i want to bring it home. I had my eye on the new challenger, which Indian is currently working on a trunk for it which will be a great future addition. I loved the bike and i was ready to sign papers, but one thing that stopped me was the cheap feeling of the saddlebag. What i mean by cheap is how they were unstable, loose and unsecured. I walked around the dealership opening and shaking every bike, the Road-master/chieftain were solid plus the dual hinges kept the lid from slamming open given it a more reliable feeling. The salesperson tried giving me excuses but i wasn't having it. I am the type of person that if i buy something i want to make sure it is worth the money and stress of a monthly payment. i know if i bought it i was going to beat myself, lose sleep thinking on how stupid i was on spending 28k on a bike when the saddlebags feels so darn cheap. i know i would be sitting next to it in the middle of the night just shaking them trying to figure out how to make them sturdy which it shouldn't be my job.

Any vibrations through the handlebars or the floorboards at all? I mean the sort of vibrations that would give you a case of numbness after a lengthy period of time? This would be a deal breaker for me. Great video review. • @guyconnell2250
    @guyconnell2250 4 года назад

I just hope Indian develops an aftermarket that will support the new engine. At the wheels this 108 makes about 110-115 lb/ft and about 105 hp. While this is better than most any stock bagger out there, it has to be considered that a guy can take a HD bagger, spend maybe 3 grand and have 130 lb/ft and 120 hp to the ground. Like it or not, this can be a deal breaker to the experienced bike buyer. And for the record, I am not bashing Indian and I actually like the Challenger, a lot. Especially the suspension and the infotainment system which, I am guessing, at 100 watts, a guy can actually hear with a helmet on, unlike a HD.

I just test rode this bike six times over the past 4 days at a demo event here in VA(I'm a Road Officer with the local IMRG and was helping with the event). I'm 5'9" with a 26" reach, and the handlebar reach was perfect for me. Ride height was great (30" inseam) and was very easy for me to place both feet on the ground at a stop. Pluses for me, Great seat position, ride comfort, power (LOTS of that), Handling (Bike itself felt light) really easy to maneuver and seemed glued to the road even in a tight corner, Brakes are awesome this bike will stop on a dime and give change, Road vibration was minimal (bumps, cracks, and shallow potholes don't transfer to you). Minuses for me, I'm not a fan of fixed fairing bikes, its easy to get used to, I'm just not a fan, The dash to me seamed higher than other fairing Indians (Chieftan, Roadmaster) and I couldn't see the first ten or fifteen feet directly in front of the bike(I know, I shouldn't be looking that close to the bike when riding, but I do when going really slow like in and out of parking lots and such), To many hard angles in the styling(I prefer a more smooth rounded look). There are many options that you can get for this bike and other Indian models to adjust the bike to your particular liking, just like any other bike on the market, so if the stock bike isn't perfect for you, you can adjust. This bike already comes with a TON of options, Electric windshield, Large Infotainment screen which you can customize to your liking on several different screens (which I found to be VERY nice), Three modes (Rain, Standard, and Sport) and there is a difference between each of them in throttle response. I could go on a lot more, so I'll just say Go test ride one at your local Indian dealership, this bike will surprise you.

Just another "test rider" who walked out the door without purchasing the bike, this must be the thing to do nowadays I guess. I learned a lesson from wife who told me..."Why put yourself thru the torture of test riding something if you don't plan on purchasing it?" I must confess she's right, I have no desire to purchase ANOTHER motorcycle. Thanks for sharing your tire kicking experience with the rest of the Indian Challenger reviewer's.

Well, well, well! Thank you for NOT spending the entire ride comparing the Challenger to the H.D. Roadglide as the only thing they really have in common is the fixed fairing. The Challenger really can be compared to the Goldwing and the BMW. Yes both have bigger engines but the frames and suspensions and even being liquid cooled are all comparable. As far as tech Us concerned, The Honda and BMW are at the very top of the technology curve.
I get that you love Indian! I could hear how giddy you were riding it! Just for due diligence, and as a motovlogger, you should test ride the other two before buying the Indian. Then you can say unequivocally that the Challenger is the best for you!
    Great video!! Loved it!

    DanDanTheFireman,
It's NOT a "Fixed Fairing." There was nothing wrong with the Fairing.
    It IS a FRAMEMOUNT
    FAIRING.

I'm super interested in test riding one. The one thing I'm really liking about the Goldwing is the airbag. That to me is worth so much

At what? Not storage space, not infotainment, not power (although they’re very very close), not comfort (huge floorboards vs fixed position foot pegs). I just don’t see it. The new front suspension while innovative has had some issues with isolating the rider too much from what’s going on with the front end. Not a good attribute for a motorcycle.

@@jubei6802 I did, a ‘19 without the trunk. Seat was way too wide and flat as a board. It was quick. Very numb feeling though. They seemed to have engineered the feeling right out of it. Great for a car, but I need to feel what my front end is doing on a bike to feel comfortable and I just couldn’t with the Wing. Very busy tech as well and the stereo was useless. Not a biggie for touring folks who use headsets, but not good if you don’t. The Wing is not a bad bike by any stretch, has its flaws like any other. Just wasn’t for me when put up against the Challenger. I also don’t really consider the Wing to be a bagger, nor a straight touring bike, maybe sport touring category now that they shrunk it up so much.

@@motoGPness interesting. And the update to the suspension didn't fix the numbness? I heard people even prefer it over the 1600 beemer. Wich is way sportier on paper. Thx for ur opinion 👍
