Sharks are very intelligent creatures it’s ridiculous to presume that they think we are seals. The ‘experts’ used to say that when swimmers were in dive suits sharks thought humans were seals , now they say that surfers are mistaken for seals. Our body structure and the way we move in the water is totally different from a seal . Sharks know humans are not seals.
That's an even more terrifying thought. It's scary enough to think one could attack because they mistake you for their normal prey, it's terrifying to think they're hunting humans in purpose.
I used to think close to the same thing but since then have seen videos from underneath looking up at seals and surfers while they are paddling. People can look more like seals than you think. We humans can readily see they aren’t the same thing but you can hardly ascribe that same ability to sharks. Sharks are color blind so your statement about black wet suits is void. When researchers are studying sharks and for instance use decoy seals, they are constructed from plywood and rubber. So much for your statement about a sharks intelligence and the sharks ability to tell the difference. In the end, does it matter if the shark recognizes us as humans or seals? What matters is that we be aware of the sharks most active feeding times, night, dawn, dusk and shortly after noon. It is there world and we’re only visitors.
The narrator said that Bull sharks can get as long as 6’ and weigh up to 200lbs. Where, in someone’s home kitchen?! Bulls get much bigger than that. Avg females reach 11’ or so and with around 700lbs, males are a little smaller. To me the scary thing about Bull sharks will try to eat anything, so they just keep on taking bites. White sharks will bite humans too. However they may only give a test bite and then many times swim off because we are not on their menu. If you can survive the test bite many have gone on to recuperate, albeit missing a limb sometimes. Tiger sharks are also unpredictable and get big but I don’t think any deserve their reputation more than the Bull. The Bull shark not only patrols and hunts coastal waters, but will also hunt fresh water rivers and estuaries. Yessir I think I’d rather run into a white than a Bull or Tiger shark.
