It certainly was. I usually have to send in multiple questions to the publisher before starting my final recording, but I've just looked and it seems I sent in no questions at all for this one :)
I second Paul. It's another great teach and playthrough. I've come to really like these types of videos, when I didn't used to think much of them. So keep them coming please.
at 49:50 you place the 9/5 point tile but you had removed your token therefore you could not place the tile there as it was not next to a territory your control. Game looks good though.
This is a great video, and dont worry about the mess ups. Picked this game up with Mi Tierra and Barony for $45! After watching an intro video, reading the instructions, and then watching this, I'm ready to play with my kids. I love how close it ended, and seems very difficult to actually see who is going to win until the end.
@@JonGetsGames Jon, here is where I got the three (plus I added neon knights 2086 for $20). Weve played dice settlers twice and we love it. Last game was 56-56-55. Talk about a close game. funagain.com/pages/build-your-bundle-spring-bundle
About 30:00, when you settled and put the purple house out, it would likely have been more advantageous to put it on the orange tile in the bottom left. That would lock in 5 VP (second place gets 0) rather than a 3/1 tile. The ongoing error regarding pulling all tents rather than the correct pull three tents might have influenced that decision, though.
@@JonGetsGames That's about what I thought. Still, considering you're playing for three players, all with different strategies and trying to highlight different play styles at the same time... it's a small thing indeed. I've only watched two of your videos so far (the other was for _Monumental_, which I watched today). You're very good at demonstrating and explaining the games. I see a few more videos in your list that I've marked for later viewing. I don't suppose you've taken a run at _Mistfall_ or _Heart of the Mists_ from NSKN, have you? I'm still trying to wrap my head around that one.
@@JonGetsGames I didn't see them in your video list, but I figured it was still worth asking. I just watched your _Akrotiri_ video. It's one of our go-to games when we've got only two players. We did have a game go a bit bad, though -- we each had goals that wanted separated islands and lots of portages and whatnot, so trying to engineer those situations made for really degenerate map that was actually hard to use!
That is unlikely to happen, but if the publisher was interested in sponsoring it then I would consider it. I don't have that expansion or even the base game anymore.
I'm interested in this game because they put the promo in Teotihuacan... It's really nice to have the playthrough, so I have a better understanding about whether I should but it. Really appreciate.
I played my last game with that promo, and it saw play. It's my favorite kind of Promo in that it adds variety but doesn't seem tacked on or overpowered.
@@JonGetsGames Thanks for the reply. It's quite a coincidence that your playthroughs match my recent targets a lot, like Teotihuacan and Feudum. It clears quite a lot of detail problems from reading the manuals alone. To be honest, I'm not a fan that "they put B's promo into A and put A's promo into B" way of selling things... I probably want that Teo's promo more than the actual game itself, so probably I need to think more about this.
@@GarrettChan Well the promo is a very minor thing, certainly not worth buying a whole game for. I am fortunate that I don't crave completion with game bits, but I can still tell you that the promo is nice but not worth going out of your way for.
Great play through! I always find your videos very enjoy and helpful. One question: at 1:11:30 you changed a pioneer icon to an explore icon. I thought you needed two pioneer icons to exchange for another icon? The large coaches technology allows exchange of pioneer icons for settle icons, so how did you do this one for one exchange?
Hmm it does appear that I messed that up. Earlier in that segment I mentioned using the hat to set another die, but then I go and set itself. I believe I meant to use that hat to set a different one but in the moment just flubbed it. Thanks for pointing this out, and I'm glad you enjoyed the video :)
Good playthrough. Thankfully Red was only 2 points behind at the end because I was concerned that Purple and Black were always placing such that Red couldn't add as well. If the tile gave a one time bonus then sometimes it felt that it would be in Purple's interest to place it next to both Red and Black so that there would be two players who could stop Black placing another house there. From other preview videos I was under the impression that you could not chain tents so you only place adjacent to where you started the Settle action?
I believe they do. Just looking at the die face legend on the player boards it seems like some are specifically about harvesting while others seem to be more people oriented with the pioneer and exploration faces. I am not sure if it specifically calls them out as being different themes though.
Great video, but every time you did settle action to pull 1 tent from general supply it hurt me. You can put 1 tent on factory and pull it out immediately generating yourself 2 tents from general supply instead of 1 with the same amount of actions.
I am not sure your logic is totally correct. If I start with 3 tents in my personal supply and receive a settle action then I could use it to add a tent to my personal supply (now 4). However, if I instead use my Settle action to place my tent on the factory I drop from 3 to 2 tents in my personal supply. I could then take off the tent from the factory to gain 2 tents so again I would have 4 tents in my personal supply.

The rules seemed pretty clear that you could chain tents out, so perhaps that changed between the prototypes and the final version of the game.
Do the different coloured die have any thematic purpose in this game?
I believe they do. Just looking at the die face legend on the player boards it seems like some are specifically about harvesting while others seem to be more people oriented with the pioneer and exploration faces. I am not sure if it specifically calls them out as being different themes though.

You are correct! I forgot that when using a factory the tent goes back to your personal supply. I will remember this for our first game!
It did occur to me as the game ended that I was likely underutilizing that factory spot, sorry about that!

In general I do prefer to have enough tie breakers so that a winner is decided.
This dice bag seems very small
You missed one of your points. Territories should be 22, not 21.
4, 3, 3 is 10
9 and 1 is 10
1 and 1 is 2
You did win!
But with 9 points from an illegal placemen t!?
And black missing the chance to steal an 8 point tile from red the very last turn.
