This was a really patriotic movie for the Chinese back in the day. Its best to watch this subtitled to get the full grasp of that, instead of everyone sounding like John Wayne XD When he said, "We are not sick men," he is referring to the phrase, "Sick man of Asia," which was used to describe the Chinese in a demeaning way by foreigners back in the day. Him kicking the sign to pieces that said "No dogs or Chinese allowed" in the park scene (I recommend it, its called "Bruce Lee Japanese park") and beating the crap out of the Japanese and etc was like a protest. A lot of Chinese describe Bruce Lee with the words "Chinese hot blood," because he would make you feel pumped up and proud. Hong Kong had no problem embracing him as their favorite son, but believe it or not, China took a lot longer, due to all the censorship and Communist regime.
Jim Kelly before he passed said he met a lot of Martial artists that were good, and Bruce Lee took them down, he said out of respect he want mention any names, but he said Bruce Lee was untouchable. You two make a good couple, wish y'all many peace, blessings, and favor in Jesus Mighty Name.
Bruce Lee only did 5 martial arts movies, but only completed 4 of them. He died in 1973 before he could finish making his movie GAME OF DEATH. Also, he didn't direct Fist Of Fury, but he directed his next movie WAY OF THE DRAGON.
Supposedly, Bruce Lee was like that in his 20s (plenty of young men are). He developed a bad rep with Oakland's Chinese martial arts community as being the cocky, brash young man who thought he was the best martial artist around. Then there's that whole debacle with his fight with Wong Jack Man. WJM's side claims that Bruce was arrogant and challenged anybody. Bruce's side claims he was doing it to be able to teach non-Chinese or non-Asian students. I'm willing to bet both sides aren't telling the truth. Besides, both Wong Jack Man and Bruce Lee taught non-Chinese students. Heck, Bruce Lee's first student upon his return to his birthplace - the US, was a black man named Jesse Glover. If you ask his daughter Shannon, she thought what people misconstrued as arrogance was Bruce as a fish out of water trying to adapt and prove himself to the way things are done in the West. A lot of those white guys in the film industry came off as confident, arrogant even. Heck, he took a lot of advice from Van Williams (the Green Hornet) and spent a lot of time learning as much as he could. From what I heard, this film and the previous one had Bruce arguing with the old school director, Lo Wei, about how to do things. It wasn't until his third movie (Way of the Dragon, where he fought Chuck Norris) that he finally got the chance to be the director (and several other roles in the movie).
Bruce Lee's speed was so fast the camera's couldn't catch his speed, and he did have to slow down, and he only wanted to work with real martial artist when he done his movies, thanks for content, ya'll keep up the nice work.🙏
He is pretty darned good. Some of the directional changes he is able to execute with them are astounding. BUT… if you compare his moves to some of the guys who trained him (like Dan Inosanto), they are better. He loses the fight to Bruce in Game Of Death, but if you watch closely, you’ll see that Dan’s moves with the nunchaku are actually smoother. Bruce is trickier, but Inosanto is more graceful.
If you have decent eye-hand coordination anyone can use a nunchaku. Now if you plan on spinning them with fire then you really need to make sure your coordination is on point
Yes, Ip Man did not like that when Bruce went to be taught Wing Chun by him in Hong Kong. So his first lesson was to be taught a lesson by Ip Man himself.
WRONG. Bruce Lee actually DID NOT direct this movie. This movie was directed by LO WEI, who actually appears in the movie as the Police Chief that Bruce Lee speaks to at the end of the movie as he turns himself in. Also,,, BRUCE LEE IS NOT FROM CHINA. BRUCE LEE WAS BORN IN AMERICA, IN SAN FRANSISCO 1940, GREW UP IN CHINA, AND DIED AT AGE 32 ON JULY 20TH, 1973. As for Bruce Lee's character in this movie of being cocky, confident, and showing off, that's close to how he really was in real life. He was never over dramatic. Those yells and war cries were part of his style. Also, the nunchucks would actually hurt like hell, but Bruce Lee is not actually making any contact with his opponents. ITS CALLED ACTING. His next movie WAY OF THE DRAGON was the movie Bruce Lee wrote, directed, and did all the fight choreography for, just like he did all the fight choreography for Fist of Fury.
Yo Toug i love you bro but you need to see the full fist of Fury movie or at least the beginning up until the fight against the Japanese then you will understand why he went in there cocky and to humiliat them , they disrespected his masters funeral and called all Chinese Sick men of Asia ❤ your boy Johnny from London ❤
You guys are awesome. I have a fight scene that I would love for ya to react . It would be awesome if ya could react to the 2024 Dalton( Jake Gyllenhal)VS Knox(Conor MecGregor) finale Fight scene
Jet Li did a temake of Fist of Fury thats even better called Fist of Legend.Bruce was very confident in himself and his abilities and Bruce is so popular even a lot the Japanese have always loved Bruce Lee and Bruce is chinese people have alway talked about how Bruce influenced them be it in martial arts or sports or what ever.
@@TheMixedPlateFrequencyMy buddy put me on about that Jet li remake, l didn't care for it, Bruce Lee didn't care for Martial arts that were aminated, and acrobatics, that's why he preferred working with real Martial artists.
Fist of Legend was trash. Ballet fu with such telegraphed movements. Fist of Fury had more intense fights that felt grounded, and the story was stronger and more patriotic.
Come on people...Bruce Lee was a great movie martial arts star, but he wasn't a real fighter. I'm not hating, I've been into several martial arts over fifty four years and competed and won several matches. Bruce never competed in any sanctioned matches ever...never held any advanced belt rankings nor was he a master. Please stop making him more than what he really was. Let's just enjoy his amazing movies.
Those sanctioned matches aren't real fights lol! He taught and trained for REAL LIFE applications, not bs point sparring with rules. I can trace my lineage directly to Si Gung/Si Fu Lee, and let me tell you, that stuff is not for sanctioned tournaments. We were trained to end fights efficiently and with deadly force if necessary. Of course what Bruce did on film was theatrical; he was an actor after all. But don't downplay his ability as a fighter when the who's who in the martial arts community went to him for instruction, and said he was the real deal.
In fact on the set of Enter The Dragon one extra made out that Bruce was just an actor and could not undertake a real fight. So the guy sparred with Bruce and learned very quickly that he was just as capable in a real fight. Other guys would attend the set and tap their foot three times in front of him. This was the challenge. He would then have to go out back and fight them. Additionally the comments of Sammo Hung and Jackie Chan should be looked into if anyone ever thought that Bruce could not undertake a real fight. True, Bruce never fought in professional competitions. That does not mean however that he was incapable of fighting in a real fight.
This was the first time Bruce Lee showed the usage of nunchucks.and martial arts movies were never the same.Fist Of fury remains a true classic
