It's confusing how most of the animated shows here are in the same universe but the 2015 cartoon has a completely different version of the team, wish they stuck with the one they had instead of copying the movie.
i feel like guardians was in a weird position, because their mcu counterparts were VERY different from their original incarnations. and their franchise was mostly obscure before the first movie. so in short, 80 percent of the time when people think of the guardians, the mcu incarnations are the ones that come to mind for many. the tv films are just incorperating what audiences find familiar i guess.
