It’s hard to believe DC was able to steal Shazam from its creator by saying it was too similar to Superman. They have never been alike.
If it were just the character or stories the lawsuits probably wouldn't have gone DC's way. Fawcett was accused of tracing whole Superman comic panels in Captain Marvel issues.
DC's Capt Marvel came out before Marvel's capt Marvel. Over the years they made him into a joke. And did anyone notice in that segment where Marvel introduced himself as SHAZAM and didn't convert back?
It's all about legal issue...
Sometimes it’s depicted that he has to want to change while calling out “SHAZAM!” in order to change, that way he doesn’t just change every time he refers to the wizard in regular conversation.
That's not what happened at all🤦🏾♂️ he did come out first but Marvel trademarked it first . They didn't make him a joke at all don't know where you got that from smh. The only reason they changed it is because marvel beat them to the punch not because they made him a joke.
He wasn't DC's at first. He was Fawcett.
@@lman1006 they did make him out of a Bad joke...... 1941 Shazam movie was heroic and masculine and not a foolish joking idiot..... and billy Batson in the 1941 movie was a fighter and masculine.... the earlier comics displays this.
Very cool this hero has been around for a long time even in the old cartoons also his powers is similar to Greek gods🔱🔱.

He WAS such a cool character until DC dumbed him down for Superman. He used to be my favorite, along with Batman and Karate kid.
Exactly....even Shazam knocked out Superman.....but yes DC dumbed him down.
The original DC publishers/owners were freaking jealous, JEALOUS of the character’s incredible super abilities, unlike the Golden Age Superman version’s.

Captain Marvel could fly before Superman. Superman originally could only jump, and He had the first family. Captain Marvel Jr. And Mary Marvel. DC stole that idea and created Superboy and Supergirl

Missing two. First, Lyle Waggoner played Captain Marvel in an untelevised sketch on the Carol Burnett Show. He was seen in costume along with Harvey Korman as Superman during the end credits scene.

You're mixing three characters in The One. First there is Captain Marvel. Who uses magic as a key to unlocks divine God power.
Then there was Captain thunder. Which is a mix of Captain Marvel and Shazam.
Then you have the hero Shazam who just absorbs the wizard magic and it's just a wizard himself.
technically it's the same character, it's just the evolution of the character through the years, as the writers refined him into the shazam we know today
@@thedanperezvids lol technically he is absolutely not the same character. Shazam is heavily based off of Captain Marvel but is not Captain Marvel. One has the power of six gods The other one's a wizard. One's an adult superhero the other ones an adult size hero with the mentality of a child. One's magical and one has divine God power. I feel that deserves to be mentioned twice. Captain Marvel has a biological sister Mary Marvel or bromfield.

Technically this is Geoff Johns idiotic idea to try to drum up new fans for a character he doesn't understand and can't get to work. Cuz he doesn't want to have a character that is designed by nature to be more powerful than Superman. More powerful than any DC character for that matter. Only one that comes close is Black Adam.

Personally, I just wanted to say that I am so angry that Marvel Comics had stolen the name of "Captain Marvel" for their own superhero in the past when I felt that the name seriously BELONGS to the "SHAZAM!" franchise all along anyway. I also add that I even blame DC Comics for having sued Fawcett Comics in the 1950's because of alleged copyright infringement and then they revived "SHAZAM!" in the 1970's as a way of getting a piece of the action in spite of their awful lawsuit in the 1950's. Furthermore, I am also much of a CLASSIC "SHAZAM!" fan and NOT the newly re-styled version of the franchise that happened with the so-called "New 52" in recent decades including the new "SHAZAM!" movies from the first one years ago to the upcoming sequel as well. I guess I am so furious that the changing face of the "SHAZAM!" franchise really does no wonders for some comic book and media enthusiasts like myself at all.
Repeat after me: in the originals, Captain Marvel was the hero, Shazam was the old wizard who gave Billy Batson the power to become Cap. The abomination Geoff Johns calls "Shazam" is a pale, weak imitation of Captain Marvel and Billy Batson.

He learns how to control his powers. New 52 confirmed that he's no more capt.marvel and is just SHAZAM. So they came up with the idea of he having the ability to control when to transform by saying the word

@@gojira-kun4836 doesn't matter wanda or not you have many characters like wanda in dc that are 10x more powerful than here even in term of movies you just take the superman from man of steel he solo the entire team of the avengers movies and im really serious when a said that mcu is never capable of showing a destructive fight or the ability of their superheroes like they fight like regular people a swear to god when you make the comparison between the fight of cap marvel vs thanos and supermand vs zod the difference is really here you got superman that punch zod with one hit and he flies hundred miles away and they move at an insane speed and her eyou got cap marvel supposedly the powerful physically in the mcu and thanos the mad titans apparently one of the strongest characters in the mcu not even capable of making huge jump or punching or make a thunderclap and dont know but doing something that is superpowerful for a being like him same for captain marvel she is supposedly teh strongest characters in the mcu in raw strength but when she punch thanos we dont see him flying hundred miles away or see here moving at an insane speed no she just fly and punch him like if she had no superstrength behind her punch litterally a regular fight
