The dairy cows in Florida don't last very long. They are replaced because the intensive milking depletes their bodies of crucial minerals.

That was a great video Tay! I was happy to see more of your milking than we have. It's funny how there are always stragglers that you have to go chase up. I think that is some kind of law or something! Brett sitting on the cow was great! I don't know that I have ever seen a cow lay still for that. 😃 I guess that's a perk of the tie-stall barn. They're more relaxed. Keep up the great work!

Good morning Taylor, it’s easy to see that you enjoy working with your girls because you always have smile on you face.😊 Those are some beautiful heifer calves that you are raising. It’s going to be fun watching them grow up. Right now you are feeding with half milk and half milk replacer. When do you start feeding them hay?
I can see how using sawdust as a bedding material is very beneficial. It provides good traction for your girls and prevents getting a sloppy tail in the face. It’s easy to see your girls are on pasture because they have a nice shiny coat and it gives them some exercise also. Thanks again for another informative video. Keep smiling. 😉

Any job has it's boring spots but my experience is farm work has so much variety and when working with animals there is always a wrinkle to each day or hour. After they were picked we would go out and use a Flail Chopper and chop them and feed to the Cows, I am here to tell you, By experience you Did Not want to stand behind any of the Cows after they ate those Pea Vines. They were a great source of protein and other nutrients for them, But God awful for the Diarrhea part. And Stink, WOW !!! There is your Pea Vine lesson for the day.

Patz corporation out of Wisconsin still makes barn cleaner chain I believe. When we quit milking in 2000 we sold the gutter chain and filled the gutters with gravel for storage purposes. Also from Wisconsin Berg equipment manufacturers chain you can google both places. I know it is a distance away but unfortunately tie stall and stantion barns with operating gutter cleaners are a dying thing sadly.

They like to be milk so they wait until the machine gets taken off. We do have one that likes to lay on the milk machine though😂
