      My Grandpa would have put his team of horses first. The team feed the cows that brought in the money. Friendly cows and a loyal dog are best animals!

    Kip , your heifers are huge and are nice and calm. It’s nice to see the farmer who raised those heifers milking those heifers. No yelling, no whistling, just calm and kool. They know you and trust you. Great job. Thanks for the video.

    Like the fact you bring them in the parlor before they freshin!!! That takes a lot of stress out of them after they calve. Its one thing to freshin them in and makes it even more stressful after they calve and they have to also go into a place they never have been before and handled!!! They know the sound, they know their herdmates are there, good way to do it. Nice Nice group of 2 year olds, nice bunch of cows period!!! Kevin

    Nice job getting the heifers to run the gauntlet a few times before they get introduced to the milker. I just chuckle when they swing their head down and look at ya with the come-on man, how about some more feed!

    Nice looking herd you have Kip!! Nice and calm too. They (cows) feed off the energy people radiate if that’s the way to say it. If you’re calm most likely the cow will be calm or remain calm. If you’re mad, upset or excited the cows will feel that and react accordingly. Generally that is. Great vid! Cheers

    Great video. I have been in a lot of dairy barns and have milked many many cows. I have never seen a dairy barn set up like yours is. Also I never saw anyone lay down newspapers. The dairies I worked in back in my younger days were double 4 or double 6 herringbone barns. Your heifers look really good. Good job sir

    My dad had to sell our dairy herd about 10 yrs ago. We had a side by side 4 on each. Almost always had 1 new heifer we had to put a rope up to block her leg from kicking the milkers off. I've been kicked more times than I can count. Dairy farmers get all my respect. Your herd looks really good, esp for how many head your milking.

    Really cool video ! That newspaper would make awesome red worm bedding after your done with it . I use red worms to compost so I see little things like that .

    I use to milk a pipeline. 80 cows 6 milkers 3 on a side brings back memories. Nice work👌🏻

    I only know 2 things about a cow they eat a lot and they crap a lot but i sure do appreciate everything that you and your cows do when i sit down to a nice hot dinner with a tall cold glass of vitamin d after a long hard day of framing houses so all you wonderful Farmers out there you keep me fed and i will keep a dry warm roof over your head to lay down after a hard days work on the farm

    I know I keep repeating but that yet to calve heifer is a tank!!! Amazing how a little feed can sooth the wild beast , my dad always called that kind of feed for the bucket calves he raised Cracker Jack's because it was real was real sweet to get them started ! I'm just gonna guess that pig pen my not be the cleanest heifer in the lot !!! Hahaha Thanks for the very interesting video !!

      Those are nupulse, older milkers but you can rebuild them 👍

    Kip you are so calm and talking to them helps the beauties to relax good on you i got a few kicks from first time milkers but the worst kick i ever got was from my girlfriend over xmas your not with the cows now she said ha ha ha

    Do your Milkers automatically retract when finished. I work on a dairy farm. We milk from behind .. id be scared to go in on the side like you do.. you need a football helmet for milking 😊

      Yep that’s what they were.The neighbors made fun of me for buying them because they had just came out with them.Can t believe they are still out there and you can get parts for them they worked great for me except for when it got below 10 degrees or colder they would freeze up sometimes Thanks for the reply brought back some good memories from the milking days

    My uncle always tought me and my cousins to pet the heifer and talk to them and be very calm and gentle when she didn't come in are parlor right and and I guess my uncle was right because those heifers learn really quick

      A heifer hasn’t had a calf yet, you just know who they are, it’s from handling them everyday you just know🤠👍👍

    The damaged teats are unfortunate, but as you said, it happens. One our best cows lost a quarter at a young age, yet she was a top 5 producer on only 3 quarters! Later on she was sold to a family friend (also a farmer) and he would take her to county fair shows, usually getting blue ribbons, occasionally best of show.

      Usually around 40 pounds in the morning and after they calve milk them for 10 months👍

    You should get the tail well. It doesn’t hurt them. But it trims there tails so they don’t have crap all over them

    I can tell you've been doing that for awhile, your right fresh heifers u have to take your time with! What do u use in your pre dip? Iodine?
