BECAUASE CENTER ROAMING AROUND PAINT AND THERE IS NO SWITCH ON 3 PTS LINE LIKE TODAY, IT MAKES GAME BEAUTIFUL AND REAL MEN SPORT. LESS SPACING DEMANDS MORE SKILL AND PHYSICAL APPROACH
AT 21:22 PAUSE AND SEE KNICKS DEFENSE. ALL 5 AROUND PAINT. VERY BEAUTIFUL GAME RULES AND HOW BASKETBALL SHOULD BE PLAYED (ONLY BAD WAS RULE OF ILLEGAL DEFENSE)
Yeah, today's NBA is soft and lazy. Not everyone, but most, they just want to all shoot uncontested 3s and layups. This laziness is indicative and a reflection of this new generation. Soft.
@@PIP...33I've been complaining about the modern day NBA for the past 15 years or more. My team is the Knicks. It's just boring compared to back in the 80s and 90s. It's crazy that no teams even try and set up in the low post anymore.
I am glad I was around and was able to watch those Knick’s teams of the 90’s and 00’s. To win games back then, teams not only had to score, they had to play defense as well. I wouldn’t say the game has evolved, I think it’s more of a change to adapt to the players coming out of college these days who are more offense oriented and had little-to-no defense in their repertoire. Man, those were fun games where you just didn’t watch to see who’d score and win, but also anticipated who’d get a bloody nose or get into a scuffle. And who can forget LJ’s 4-point play to win a playoff game against those same Heat in front of the home crowd?
32 to 2 run! That's why I felt Van Gundy blew it. Charlie Ward really knew how to run this team. Yet Van Gundy would split the PG minutes between Ward and Childs.
Now that's how you play defense to win the game not today's game of jacking up 3 pt shots all the time they can keep it I'll take this type of basketball!
It’s also really awesome to see coordinated plays and creating floor space off-ball. This piss-poor, constant fast-break garbage we see today is just brainless. And the physicality is the biggest difference between now and then. These weak, frail NBA players we have today wouldn’t stand a chance against defense like this. Overall, the 90s were peak NBA. Post-2000s was where it all went downhill.
@@TheTwinkiefoot you cant crowd the shooter today. shooters used to land on opposing players legs and roll their ankles because the defender would aggressively push in and take away any space to land. you cant do that today. so while players PRACTICE shooting the three today way more than at any other time, the perimeter defense is handicapped form stopping them.
@@TheTwinkiefoot that doesn't mean anything. All dude was saying he'd take this style over the current style of basketball. We now have teams scoring 115 and somehow losing by 30
Why is it that I can I turn on the History Channel and see video footage from a war that happened over 100 years ago that has better quality than a video that was made this century?
You know I really liked the Knicks during that time..but man Latrell was a bellhog lol. I see why the wolves didn't give him more money to "feed his family" haha
please tell me do you all feel like the 1999 hawks were average or semi good how about another team that lost in the semi finals the 76ers and i did do and will say that allen iverson alonzo mourning and patrick ewing weren't as elite as bob pettit and wilt chamberlain
Hubie Brown in the commentary box also a Knicks legend.
I remember watching this playoffs run by the KNICKS 😊. LJ with the 4 point play against Indiana in the Garden was crazy 😮
Wow looks like a completely different game. So much movement and physicality on every possession

Could someone please upload the '99 playoffs between the Knicks and Hawks?!
Been looking for that series for years'!

32-2 run are you kidding me?!?

You'll also "take" a lot of losses in the process. There is a reason teams have elected to push the pace in recent years, after all.
Great defense of that Era would curtail today's 3 and Jack offense of course that Era didn't play all that selfish aau ball! Peace

Dudley,Camby,Johnson, Thomas,and Ewing ……
Ward,Childs, Houston and Sprewell at the guards.
Pretty good Knicks squad back in the day……
It’s nice to watch some basketball where they’re not blowing the whistle to every little contact. Bring this back.
Awesome video and audio quality!
1:33:44 Rick Brunson enters the court (Jalen Brunson's father) I wonder if little Jalen was at MSG that day.
Nice playoff run for him
The Knicks should have finished the series at home
klay thompson is like a modern day allan houston
Houston would smoke Thompson. Houston could create his own shot. Thompson never could.
Real basketball
Do you have knicks heat game 1 1999?
I'm from Argentina. I can't understand what's fans scream on 1:04:32 ¿Can you tell me?
"Riley sucks!" haha.
Hubbie at 51:36 still looks so old here.
wow, the man is now 90 is still lucid as those days.
Nice

Today's game 0 post gm so sad
please tell me do you all feel like the 1999 conference finals should've been the magic or pacers vs the heat
Basketball can't compete with nfl because physicality has been erased
Patrick Ewing gets T’d up by referee Mike Mathis
Even the refs were tougher
