THANK YOU! www.patreon.com/Boomstickgaming I tried to keep this free of tips like “save ammo”, “get the shotgun”, and “here is this puzzle solution”, because I know all of you watching are smarter than that and usually enjoy the slightly more nuanced tips I provide. Thanks very mch for theese tips, i thought i wasn't gonna learn anything new but i was very wrong. BTW, if you have to kill azombie that's downed just keep swiping with the knife, takes some time, but ultimately saves ammo Very good video, again thans for it
you can use the knife to finish off zombies for sections you need to revisist, you can kill 8-10 downed zombies before the knife breaks. it takes way less durability off the blade than a failed dodge attempt will. ive ended the game with 4 knifes and over 20 grenades and flashes, because i was saving them for situations that never happened and could save a shitload of health/ammo, if i just use them proberly. still unable to beat hardcore in under 2 hours(2h:7m) :/ Keep up the good work, much appreciate.
here's a tip for saving ammo on zombies that nobody seems to mention so far: SHOOT THE LEGS. just take out one of their legs, it only takes about 3 or 4 shots from a pistol, (and also just a few swipes of a knife if you wanna save the ammo), and the zombies are pretty much no longer a threat. they can still grab you while they are crawling on the ground, but it's far easier to navigate around them that way. i use this tactic all the time, but only when i really need to, just so i can save ammo. and so far, it works incredibly well. i can run around them all day and not take any damage, just as long as they are missing one leg. hope this helps.
Just a reminder, in order to see that a door is chained or locked behind an specific key on your map you need to try to open it. So always try to open every door in order to have a complete map.
@@johnyshadow Are you certain? I've had rooms go blue when I've accomplished my "task(s)" but not because I picked up all items. Example for me, the infrared scope for the Lightning Hawk. I used the computer and got the weapon and the room turned blue. However, I didn't know there was a scope for the weapon until AFTER I completed the sewers and went all the way back for it. I still have a red room in the sewers, the room where you have to use the electronic chess pieces to save Ada, and I picked up all the items yet it didn't turn blue.
@@darrylw1038 Those were going to be my 2 examples. :D I should have been more specific. By "items" I meant things "lying on the ground", that are out in the open. 1) The scope is a hidden "secret", and you can´t find it without the photo, thus it doesn´t show up. 2) You can still pick up the chess pieces (for some reason), so they show up on the map. I´ll admit that it can get somewhat confusing.
@@johnyshadow Fair enough 😊. I didn't know that you could still go back and grab the chess pieces. I think I'll do that since I saved right afterwards saving Ada in a separate save slot.
Ten additional, advanced tricks, from a player who runs Saveless RE2, hardcore: 1.) Zombies flinch more frequently when shot in the legs with the handgun. Use handgun leg-shots to safely run past zombies in tight corridors, without needing to waste extra ammo killing them. While flinching, zombies cannot attempt to grab you. 2.) A zombie missing its legs is easy to step around, and cannot change rooms by breaking down doors (although it may crawl through with help from other zombies). Try to remove the legs off zombies in rooms you plan to revisit a lot. If you have hand grenades or fire, legless zombies are easy to wrangle together and elliminate with either. Acid grenades can de-leg multiple zombies quickly, and be followed up with a flame grenade, for cleanup. 3.) Zombies tend to walk out of fire produced by flame grenades. Try to aim at or ahead of any zombies you want to burn. Be prepared to retreat and let the fire do its full damage. 4.) In a few situations, zombies will relocate, between visits to certain rooms, like the library and west wing stairs. If you are fortunate, they may have their back turned to you. By walking slowly and staying out of sight, you can slip behind many of these zombies, even in tight areas. One example that comes to mind is the third-floor west staircase--the civilian zombie there sometimes appears at the very top of the stairs, with his back turned, just staring at a wall--you can walk right behind him without firing a shot. Zombies are actually pretty near-sighted, too, so keep your distance in more open areas like the library, and sneak by without a sound or a shot fired. 5.) Zombies cannot be countered with a defense item if they grab you from behind, or from the ground. Being bitten by crawling zombies often will not put you directly into red danger from green fine, however--consider this when preparing your healing items and subweapons. Facing a zombie you think you're going to be cornered by and using a defense weapon when they grab you is usually better than running and being grabbed from behind, if you can't manage to flinch, deleg, or decapitate your target. Flame rounds and napalm take time to act, and are not a good option for dealing with zombies up close and personal, when trying to escape being grabbed. Acid, likewise, takes a bit of time to act--try not to rely upon the grenade launcher as a method to escape being cornered by shamblers. Lastly, keeping a route of retreat open when dealing with multiple approaching zombies, is paramount. Always try to leave yourself a zombie-free direction open to run, and lure the zombies around whatever tables, cabinets, and other obstacles you can, with this end goal in mind. Running is always an option, if you buy yourself the room you need with clever thinking. 6.) Most attacks cannot kill you in one hit, if you are above red danger. If you are in yellow caution, it's usually better to take a hit than waste an herb--save your single green herbs for keeping yourself off death's door, and combine your leftover greens into triple-greens when you save up extras, beyond what you need to mix with red and blue herbs. It's always best to heal with red-green combos from red danger health, when you're not in any immediately dangerous situations--the exception being if you're dealing with G-Adults, in which case, there's no shame in taking a red-green-blue combo, to deal with untimely poisoning. 7.) The shotgun can decapitate zombies very easily. Save your shells for removing zombie heads, save your handgun rounds for bosses, when playing as Leon. Matilda is a very reliable boss-killer, and can even be used for bypassing Mr. X, if you need to stun him--especially once you acquire the extended stock for burst fire. 8.) A few zombies only wake up if you fulfill certain conditions. The fat zombie in the library only wakes if you walk near him, fall through the flooring overhead, or pass the bookshelves through the entryway to his left. Likewise, his friend feasting on the corpse on the ground only aggros if you fall through the flooring, or use the ladder near him. Another zombie in the west office only wakes after nearing the Spade Key door from inside the room, and his neighbor asleep at the desk only wakes when walking by on his side. If you plan your route carefully, you can avoid fighting these zombies altogether. 9.) Try not to carry all your ammo in one pile. Occasionally store your handgun ammo, and carry only small amounts on hand at any given time, between visits to safe rooms. This leaves you with inventory space to pick up more things, reducing the amount of dangerous backtracking you need to do for key items. The shotgun can be loaded and extra ammo left in storage, between endeavors to decapitate problem zombies. Larger capacity handguns allow you to flinch and run around or de-leg a few obstacles at a time, without carrying any extra inventory slots worth of ammo. Carrying large stacks of ammo should be conserved for boss fights and enemy-exterminating runs, where you aim to clear out a particular set of rooms to deal with Mr. X--for instance, carrying a large amount of flame grenades for Claire, in order to deal with several lickers. 10.) As Claire, Lickers can be temporarily stunned with flame grenades. This works more consistently if they are on a wall, or on the ground, than if hit while on the ceiling. While stunned, you can either run past them, fire a second grenade to finish them off, or switch to one of your handguns and fire several rounds, to attempt to finish them and conserve grenades. Choose wisely, depending on your location and needs!
theres a slight invincibility frame when switching from aiming your gun and your run animation but its really tight but ive been able to do it consistently against the plant monsters which saves me a sub weapons more often than not
Completed RE2 Leon A on hardcore. Died about 16 times in total, but regardless, this is one of the best RE games we've had in a long time. The return of survival horror here and the trial and error style of play gives you motivation to keep trying. Each time I died I learned something new, and the my gameplay smarts progressed. Bosses were hard as hell, enemies wouldn't die but slow down, and the environment was always against you, like a SURVIVAL game should be. Good to revisit the classic like this.
All this for sure. I do have one complaint regarding the Police Station keys though. I went into it totally blind my first time and spent 20 minutes in the map trying to figure out how to get into the heart key doors as Leon. It wasn't until I buckled and looked it up that I found that it was Claire only. I mean it makes sense, but I was thinking it would be like the classic in that both characters got all keys. I suppose it frustrated me more that I wasted so much time in the map and trying to revisit all kinds of places while running from Mr X. Not to mention wasting herbs from getting punched so much. Other than that though it's an extremely solid retelling of the original.
I agree, fantastic game. I have played all Res evil games that have been on Playstation apart from RE7. I loved the RE2 remake surprisingly. I cannot wait for the remake of my favourite ever though ... RE3. I played RE3 on PS1 so many times that I knew the game inside and out. CANNOT WAIT!
I really appreciate that these are REAL tips, not obvious stuff that the game teaches you in tutorials anyways. I've seen so many videos that are like "use the Dodge button!" Just to make it to ten minutes. So annoying. You have a new subscriber sir.
Awesome thanks. Yea, I call out lame tips like that in my pinned comment. I always do tips in this style for almost all games I cover because I like to go out of my way and try to find this little nuanced details.
There's none kids, he's referencing retarded videos stating the obvious from regardless of the game, like saying "use the sprint button", there's no dodge button in re 2 remake.
Couple important things about these tips: 1) Map doors only update their info if you touch them, otherwise they stay white to suggest they’re open. 2) Dodging zombies is harder on hardcore. They lunge twice consecutively and change their direction extremely well on the 2nd lunge.
Another tip some people might have missed - some key items in your inventory might have a small tick box at the bottom right which means they are no longer usable and can be safely discarded.
Holy cow! For you specifying running backwards and tricking the zombie has been a complete game-changer for me. Thank you very much. Sometimes the simplest things, even though they are not the most obvious but should be, can make a world of difference and it has. so thank you and it is much appreciated.👍
One thing I learned too even tho iv been playing resident evil since ps1 (don't know if this is just a new mechanic tho) but I never knew that the blue and red herb mix is good for reducing damage for a certain period of time, not sure how long yet but it's a good thing to know for basic play throughs I would imagine
Tue Her I hope ur right otherwise it's embarrassing... lol havnt put it to practical use yet but seems like a solid mechanic, especially for less experienced players
I found myself using the door peek at like 3 am on release day because I saved in the dark room and Mr X and a Licker were on the other side of the door. Lmao
@@BaMbOoZeD All doors, but there are a few places he won't go. Most save rooms he won't enter, the clock tower he won't enter, and the stars room he won't enter. Plus he also won't go into the Interrogation rooms for some reason or another. He also won't follow you down under the Goddess statue. So there are a few places you can duck into and avoid him. Then you can door peek and watch where he goes. I did it quite a few times in the dark room and watched to see what floor he went up too before leaving.
@@Wolfrevan Okay 😊 but he did enter once in the clock tower at me and hunting me like crazy at all save rooms :/ I was so scared when I heard his footsteps 😭 and there he was 😋 panic movement.. Hehe.
When a key item has been 100% used i.e. you unlocked all of the diamond doors with the diamond key, they're will be a checkmark in the corner of the item icon. Mad useful.
@@jamjam445 You have tips from the game turned off... But you are looking up tips online... Maybe if you are interested in tips, you should turn on the game tips?
People behind those videos are just casual players with no skill. IGN is nothing but full of mainstream clickbait. I don't think they even play the game entirely.
3:36 you forgot to mention that it also might be helpful to decrease the "when aiming" speed, for finer more accurate aiming, and increase the FOV for better spacial awareness under display settings
One of the things that helped me through my first and second playthrough is that Lickers are completely blind(if you played the older Resident evils you'd know that) so you can walk through hallways that have Lickers in them without wasting your bullets or life.Just dont bump into them while doing this, as that will still alert them, though in my experience, if they bump into you, they wont attack you. Also, throwing a flashbang at a licker will stun it for a longer duration than any other creature, and will allow you to safely kill them.
I personally found a good strategy to be targeting the legs on the zombies. They’re much easier to maneuver around in general when they’re on the ground. Three bullets to the head to knock them on their back, then slash away.
Thank you for finally being the first person I've seen to mention the PC control for turning around quickly. Everyone else I've watched has pretended PC doesn't exist
Tip 1! Thanks, been trying to work out how to effectively dodge zombies as I've been trying and failing in my first 2 playthroughs. Will practice tomorrow
The doors that are locked with the rpd keys (Club, diamond, heart and spade keys) don’t show up on your map unless you try to open them. If you just look at them and walk past they dont show as locked doors.
One of the best tips is to learn to shoot zombies in the thigh to make them stagger and then run past. Huge ammo saver and very useful for zombies that you don't need to cross again or if you are just low on ammo.
You have my subscription and sponsorship. This is exactly the kind of thing I was looking for. I don’t want to cheat and use a walkthrough. I just want to be prepared for the challenge ahead and not have my ass handed to me while I learn to master the game. It cheapens the experience and sours it with frustration. Thank you so much for posting this “mechanical guide”.
Thanks for the tips Boomstick, I never thought about putting the camera speed up completely, as well as the SWAT door peaking as well. Will be doing that on my next playthrough.
2:00 I would recommend a few swipes of the knife. One hit doesn't always reactivate them. I would also recommend Knifing zombies once they are down to save ammo. Just keep 1 full knife to deal with lickers. 2:30 It's not on the written title, but in the intro you say "9 survival tips." what does the stupid raccoon statue have to do with survival? 14:15 That zombie you active will despawn after beating Birkin. You can just wait to grab the herb without him ever getting up. Some good tips here. There some basics a lot of people seem to miss: 1. Walk, don't run. you can go right past a zombie if you slow down and walk behind. You can clear the entire west office without either zombies getting up, for example. Also goes for when Mr. X is stalking you, he will take longer if you don't run. 2. Anyone that knows RE will know, you don't kill everything. You should also know when you should. If you know you will be passing back through a room or a route you will need again. Clear the Area. Save yourself some pain. 3. Just my personal preference: Save the knives for slicing zombies and lickers. Flash-bangs for bosses and having one in case Mr. X corners you always makes me feel better. Grenades are... expendable. Best "defensive" weapon because they will get you out of a tight spot and kill most things that eat them. A few points in the game where tossing one is preferable. Honestly, sometimes I'll let a zombie grab me, stick a grenade in it's mouth, and keep going. Saves bullets.
When you go through the west hallway in the police station the second time when the licker appears you can make it disappear. When you go through the door and hear it scream. Run back into the lobby. When you go back into the hall it will be gone.
Thank you for the back x/a tip to maneuver around zombies, also shooting your gun to stop being ambushed by enemies. Those will help so much. Great video!
I heard a rumor there was a dodge technique or there was an actual dodge move thank you for telling me the truth, I played the one shot and I got to say it was amazing I’m about to play my new copy tonight with my headphones on lol , And all those tips will save me a lot of herbs, because I got bit to three times and I was in red lol - super clutch thank you - u got my sub now also
I think I was able to crack the safe in the normal RPD West building office with a welcome Leon ( not gonna say it without your permission,) But if you could help with the puzzles, I can’t take a look at them yet but they look crazy especially if this tyrant is going to start running after me soon so if you could help me with that I’d appreciate it, either way I would have a hell of fun playing this with headphones on but if you could help with the puzzles, That would be cool thanks mr clutch 👍
There is an actual dodge mechanic, in 0:52 you can see he runs by the zombie then he grabs him but the camera doesn’t do the close up yet if you click the stick to run to the other side from where the zombie grabs you (if left go right and viceversa)and it must be done even if you were already running at the precise time it you’ve succeeded Leon will shove the zombie without going to the bitting animation.but this only works from zombies that grab you by the side his technique of going backward is amazing with zombies coming towards you in a super tight hallway try to combine both and you will surely survive.
@@GamingMisthios13 That's the mechanic that the tutorials never teach... I think it's not clicking but activating Sprint. It doesn't work half the time due to some conditions, but I think you have to reactivate Sprint the moment you are about to be grabbed and the zombie will fumble the grab. Spamming shift key on PC while the Sprint is set to hold might help?
dra6o0n I just beat the fourth survivor using this, I think you don’t have to sprint just move the joystick immediately to the other side as the zombie grabs you
Soooooo i dont know how well it works maybe only on standard. But I've tried it 4 times just now and idk if its the angle or what but in a narrow corridor the second they lunged at me i tap L1 without the indication mind you (ps4/no side weapon) and Claire moved their arms out the way. Ive seen it done on other vids but no one seems to know how it works officially. Lemme know if im crazy
YES! Thank you for the dodge tip! I was just about to put this game away forever because my knives keep breaking, so when I run out of ammo I have literally zero offense. And since the police station has so many tight corridors where I couldn't walk around zombies I was just constantly hitting points where the game looked unwinnable and I had to reload my latest save. This is a game changer and makes it worth giving it a second chance.
The knife tip is a pretty good one. While practicing, I picked up on that. When you get the infinite/unbreakable combat knife (got it by shooting all the raccoon statues I believe), it makes that a lot easier. Take a zombie's leg out, finish it with the knife. Just don't try using the unbreakable combat knife as a defensive weapon. Got stuck when I tried to. These are definitely some great tips. I suggest newcomers take advantage.
One tip I found helpful is shooting the legs of the zombies stunning them and allowing you to go around them, also while they are stunned you can almost walk right through them. It takes about two shots instead of a large amount to the head usually around 4-5
I am telling you, you can NOT be standing still or walking - you have to be running to tap a direction to change the camera unless it is a 180 degree turn. Why would you say "I don't think so"? You own the game, literally just go play it and you will see that I am right.
Great video. I already beat the game, but I still got a lot out of the video for my current play through! The back sprint to avoid grabs is awesome, and I plan to use it right now!
These are the best tips for the game, so far. We truly appreciate your effort and time in putting all this. The Field of View, the camera speed and also when aiming. More importantly for me, the first tip in mastering the dodge. Gained a new subscriber. Keep it up!
Another tip for people going through hardcore to help save ammo. Shoot zombies in the leg so you can get a stagger which gives you enough time to run past them and if this zombie blocks paths a lot, shoot the same leg repeatedly and you will shoot their leg off. Killing zombies in hardcore is just a waste of time/ammo so try to avoid them as much as possible. Edit: I only recommend this to people who are still learning how to bait a zombies grab or you just can’t get around them.
Lol. I tried to dodge zombies the old school way by making them lunge at me while backing up. Didn’t work, so I learned something new this video is just by sprinting backwards.
Ive almost beaten Claire's campaign on hardcore. Best advice I can give is, don't be afraid to run and everything is trial and error. Especially in hardcore. Edit- Beat leon Standard S+, leond harcore was beaten but no s, beat leons 2nd campaign s+, Claires Standars S, Claires 2nd run S, also no s in harcore but im warching videos on speedruns for s rankong. But beat all campaigns and on all difficulties!
Good work! Im doing claire 2nd hardcore now but i have unlimited gun ammo so its much easier than when i tried leon 2nd hardcore and quit at birkin cause i had wasted pretty much ammo and didnt know if it would be enough untill end of game
I find it hard to run past lickers eveb if i walk very quietly, they always get me. So I just shoot each licker with my grenade launcher fire rounds. Plenty of flame rounds to go around so it doesnt matter to me. And plus they'll be gone when needing to enter the rooms again
Can’t wait till I get home later and play. And try some of these tips. I can tell a lot by me is overlooked but now knowing what I know I can handle this pickle that I’m in...
Idk if someone else in here has said, but the knife is actually not as weak as people say. Sure it's not great to rely solely on it (even though supposedly a japanese player has done a knife-only run), but there are strats against Birkin where people have used the knife at select times. It actually works a lot like the Code Veronica knife where it CAN actually cause DPS and decent DPS at that. (all things considered) I will definitely keep the backwards sprint dodge in mind for zombies, though. I managed that same dodge for Mr X, but it's always better to flash grenade.
Thanks for the good (actually useful) tips. I had a lot of problems from trying to run past the single zombies I saw, and I did NOT know you could door peek! Gonna try the camera tweaks too... Awesome video!
My two most basic tips are: 1 - Save your ammo, fight only when extremely necessary 2 - Two shoot the limbs of the zombies one-headshots are that common Good luck.
For the last tip here is something important he forgot to say! The door will only show up if you touch it! Any doors you didn't touch will show up as white! Doors that use the keys (spade, diamond, club and heart) will be marked with there symbol! Also when you walk into a room and, any items you see but don't pick up get marked on the map! You don't have to touch them but you do have to get close enough for the item indicator to show up! This is great for leaving items behind for later pick up! And bonus advice from proxy!!! If your inventory is full when you go to pick up a item, if you can combine it with another you can do that, for instance when you are full and find a red herb and you have a green or blue one in your inventory you can pick it up and mix it on the spot! This goes for gun powder and key items (such as the bracelet you need to keep upgrading)
@@RonanAquilius I do when I am exclaiming something! its proper grammar, as I was exclaiming everything I said when I typed that I added exclamation points. Also they are called exclamation points not !.
@@jamesking4736 going by the definition of exclaim, why do you have strong emotion when just stating a few facts, you can use exclamation points as much as you want but i just find it weird when i read it that im yelling every last word you say in my head when i absolutely didn't have to lol, its just not professional thats all im saying
Another feature I found out. When your story items (Chain Cutter, Shaped Keys etc) have a red tick at the icon, that means it is used up completely and there is no more used of it. This saved me a ton as I have no idea if I still need the item in my inventory.
As an old re player i got 2 more tips for newbies who haven't play the remake or the old games: aim for the head and save ammo. The second is the most important imo since you don't know what enemy or boss you might find later on.
Sadly this one's not quite accurate. Afaik damage to head & body is the exact same in the RE2make. You do have the chance of a critical hit, but shooting enemies into their knees makes for a safer knockback effect. :D
Thanks for this video!! I completed the Claire story on assisted (because i have gotten too old to aim and react quickly LOL), but i feel armed with these tips i may be ready to take on Standard...maybe even Hardcore! Using that quick turn to "trap" the zombie in their lurch animation is EXACTLY what i needed to know when playing through before!
Since the video doesn't specify it, on hardcore zombies tend to run towards you twice trying to grab you, so doing it on small areas requieres to avoid 2 rushes or else you'll be grabbed by the zombie anyway. All lickers can be avoided to save time by walking and not touching them, even that licker on Claire's route really close to the small ladder after the diamond key by sticking to the left. Everything else I can think of has been said on another comment with 10 tips, nice video.
Here's a tip that helped me "rationalize" the game. It's not much of a gameplay tip but more of a mental tip. There are some rooms you are effectively going to enter one time through the game. There are other rooms you are going to cross three or four times. Then there are rooms that are "danger" rooms. These rooms are just too dangerous to let zombies live. When Mr. X is chasing you, it's easy for new players to just run into the nearest room without really considering what room they're entering. It is wise to clear certain rooms before you leave the RPD the first time. Rooms I'd say to clear: 1. The Library, except for the zombie eating the other zombie, don't touch that one. As long as you don't use the ladder it won't notice you :) and you only need to use the ladder once you finish the mid game bookshelf puzzle. 2. The Storage Rooms. It may not seem like it but you will cross through these at least twice. It's in your best judgement to just clear them out. They're also very dangerous because of tight corners, making it really hard to see them. Be careful in these rooms. Both of these are "danger rooms." 3. As Leon you'll want to clear out the East Wing almost entirely. You'll also want to board up the second and third windows on the wall. There are 4 of them, the second window ALWAYS gets a zombie. The third gets one once late game :) I've never seen zombies use the 3rd or 4th so this might help you out. This hallway gets flooded with zombies later so having 2 less zombies to deal with is helpful. 4. The West wing is easily the most dangerous wing in the RPD. Zombies love to flood it and then you get some lickers late game. On claire A you only have to run this hallway twice, which is easy. But as Leon you have to run it a third time to get the library puzzle piece... Board up that first window. It will make it so you have one less zombie to deal with. And that's a BIG deal because it was tough dealing with a licker, two zombies, and mr. x when I did it. Especially with that eerie music giving your aim the jitters.... 5. In the Sewers there's almost a central "hub" with three entrances including the stairs you go down into. You'll notice the gate that you have to raise and the yellow bar. It has a grenade in it for extra information. Kill all three zombies in this room!!!!! Reason being is there are some areas in the sewers that can hurt you real bad, and these zombies could be the death of you if you run out of health packs. What I do is I walk down the stairs, I look as far left as I can, roll a frag and try to hit all three. If you do it right you'll kill 2 instantly, and the one in the blue jacket will only need two shots to the head to die :) The rest of the sewers you can avoid and run through if you're good. 6. At this point you're probably at nest. There's a plant ridden hallway not inside the main chamber where two of the bastards hang out. You'll be sprinting for your life later and those two guys can absolutely be the death of you. Two shots from Claire's grenade launcher will put them down (4 in total, 2 each.) These guys won't respawn like they do in the main chamber. Try to avoid wasting ammo in the main chamber. 7. Deeper into nest there's the most evil hallway in the game. You can't avoid it so you gotta put your big boy pants on and kill three zombies and two lickers. Then you need enough ammo to spare to fight the rest of the zombies on the stairs. Tip: Kill the three zombies laying down around the tables before activating the lickers. Then flash bang the lickers in the hallway. Make sure you have a spare medkit on you because they're fast. For claire I think it's 2 fire rounds per licker on normal, and 3 for hardcore.... So BRING THAT AMMO!!!! To be as safe as possible bring two flashes, a medkit, 12 rounds of shotgun ammo, 7 rounds of fire rounds (one in the chamber for claire) and then a pistol with a lot of backup ammo (or the SMG if you dont have pistol rounds.) You're in the home stretch and clearing out this hallway is bigly. Final tip because you'll fight a lot of zombies on the stairs immediately after this. Zombies who grab you on stairs ignore your secondary weapons. That means you can't stab them with a knife or shove a grenade in their mouth if you are attacked on any stairs in the game. Think ahead and be cautious. Good luck.
Thank you so much! Some of those didn't cross my mind at all, love the tips, should help with hardcore mode story 2 hehe, I found story 2 much harder than story 1. Btw, this is unrelated to helping in surviving in the game; but, there is also an option in the camera menu that reduces wobble when the character is moving, found this good for the eyes and helps if anyone has motion sickness or similar.
Loved this video. Nicely done! I will be playing this evening. What is your advice for dealing with the Tyrant? Should use ammo to give me time, or just keep running? Thinking of that is stressing me out. LOL. Thank you again for this video.
I never fought him when he was chasing me really. Just avoid him and keep moving. If he corners you, shoot him in the head till he staggers and then run by him.
Mr X cant be killed so save your ammo If you out rum him, hide in some room, try to hold L1 and move or L2 and move so that you dont make noise and move away from him further until his footsteps fade away then come out of room and take distance lead He chases your noise
Acid rounds with Claire's grenade launcher works wonders with him, I just used him to partially clear the police station most of the time, noise attracts him as well, so don't use any firearm and he won't come running....or stomping
I appreciate the tip about the backwards run to get past solo zombies, I'll be using it for sure. I have to say though, the knife does really good damage against the Birkin 1 & I believe 3
I came into this not expecting to learn anything new especially after watching people speedrun the game many times but you actually got me with field of view. Nice one. Gonna try it later while I attempt to get my infinite rockets/chaingun
A thing I do is if I have a a flashback or a grenade I equip the sub weapon and if there are any spooky creatures on the other side of the door I push the door open then throw it then BAM I can run past them.
#1 is the best. I feel like you'll naturally pick up on the rest of these tips by just playing the game once, but i really never thought of pulling aggro and then running back
Really good list, though I would add the fact that you can actually combine items that you pick up to items that are in your inventory, EVEN WHEN IT IS ALREADY FULL, which is a great tool when you worry about inventory management and backtracking to a safe room.
Lol Pack an Umbrella. In this game, sometimes you just have to kill a zombie, licker, etc if you either have a lot to do in that particular room- swapping items, multiple puzzles- or if you have to return to that location multiple times. In the Police Station, enemies love to hang out in the many corridors you have to traverse over again or effective short cut paths. Sometimes you can piccolo dodge, but other times you just gotta pop their heads- send them to the grave as soon as possible. If not, they will eat your herbs, then your ass. And you better make it to the Bottom Platform soon with that music playing and crackling, crying alarms shrieking in the background.

I tried to keep this free of tips like “save ammo”, “get the shotgun”, and “here is this puzzle solution”, because I know all of you watching are smarter than that and usually enjoy the slightly more nuanced tips I provide.
Thanks for checking this out and I hope it helps you enjoy your stay in Raccoon City, just a little more.

Shoot the legs and cut the arms off it keep them zombies from opening the doors especially on Ada part.
Thanks very mch for theese tips, i thought i wasn't gonna learn anything new but i was very wrong.
BTW, if you have to kill azombie that's downed just keep swiping with the knife, takes some time, but ultimately saves ammo
Very good video, again thans for it
you can use the knife to finish off zombies for sections you need to revisist, you can kill 8-10 downed zombies before the knife breaks. it takes way less durability off the blade than a failed dodge attempt will. ive ended the game with 4 knifes and over 20 grenades and flashes, because i was saving them for situations that never happened and could save a shitload of health/ammo, if i just use them proberly. still unable to beat hardcore in under 2 hours(2h:7m) :/ Keep up the good work, much appreciate.
here's a tip for saving ammo on zombies that nobody seems to mention so far: SHOOT THE LEGS. just take out one of their legs, it only takes about 3 or 4 shots from a pistol, (and also just a few swipes of a knife if you wanna save the ammo), and the zombies are pretty much no longer a threat. they can still grab you while they are crawling on the ground, but it's far easier to navigate around them that way. i use this tactic all the time, but only when i really need to, just so i can save ammo. and so far, it works incredibly well. i can run around them all day and not take any damage, just as long as they are missing one leg. hope this helps.
ha youre the dude who got famous bcz of IGNs mistake lol i just realized that
Just a reminder, in order to see that a door is chained or locked behind an specific key on your map you need to try to open it. So always try to open every door in order to have a complete map.
THIS! This should've been #2 on this list!
Also, blue rooms aren´t always 100% done. It´s just items you can pick up, not environmental stuff / puzzles.
Ten additional, advanced tricks, from a player who runs Saveless RE2, hardcore:
1.) Zombies flinch more frequently when shot in the legs with the handgun.
Incredibly useful!
sneak up on lickers on the ground and use a knife. the get stuck in animation when u do it repeatedly
Thomas Gerald I saw the comment and was just about to say this.... knife stun locks the lickers. You can kill every licker with a freakin knife 😂😂
@Soldier-2Point0 Well good luck than buddy. Oh and me too hehe
theres a slight invincibility frame when switching from aiming your gun and your run animation but its really tight but ive been able to do it consistently against the plant monsters which saves me a sub weapons more often than not
Completed RE2 Leon A on hardcore.
Re7 was good
The crane boss killed me the most lol
I agree, fantastic game. I have played all Res evil games that have been on Playstation apart from RE7. I loved the RE2 remake surprisingly. I cannot wait for the remake of my favourite ever though ... RE3. I played RE3 on PS1 so many times that I knew the game inside and out. CANNOT WAIT!
Just 16 times right ? Lmao sure
Right. I'm about to sub too
Wait.. DODGE button?
There's none kids, he's referencing retarded videos stating the obvious from regardless of the game, like saying "use the sprint button", there's no dodge button in re 2 remake.
Protip: to make a zombie fall to the floor in one shot, shoot them in the thigh not the kneecap.
Couple important things about these tips:
1) Map doors only update their info if you touch them, otherwise they stay white to suggest they’re open.
2) Dodging zombies is harder on hardcore. They lunge twice consecutively and change their direction extremely well on the 2nd lunge.
Not necessarily. You can walk right past items then notice on the map that they're actually there. :)
*That backwards sprint was genius!!* ✅🙂
For new players yes, but this is just classic re dodging
Really made a great point towards full auto team!
Yup. The zombie juke is basically necessary for speed runs.
Had you really not picked up how to juke without the video?? It isnt hard xD
The zombies sprint 2 times the distance in hardcore btw.
I found myself using the door peek at like 3 am on release day because I saved in the dark room and Mr X and a Licker were on the other side of the door. Lmao
Same 😁
Tyrant is walking through all doors at the police station, so you can't avoid him 😋😋
isnt that great??

Mad useful.

Here's a another pro tip. When dodging zombies in hardcore mode, they always do a double lunge.
@@isaiahrowley9830 They do that on Standart as well
@@t_7070 Yea, my bad, it's based on distance
Thank you for actually giving tips that aren't super obvious like ign and gamespots videos.
People behind those videos are just casual players with no skill. IGN is nothing but full of mainstream clickbait. I don't think they even play the game entirely.
Ahmet Emin Erdoğan I agree
Ign: want all the achievements?? Beat the game 100% and make sure you get everything!!!
Me: 🙃
3:36 you forgot to mention that it also might be helpful to decrease the "when aiming" speed, for finer more accurate aiming, and increase the FOV for better spacial awareness under display settings
There is a note in the game that tells you that, there is also one saying that the only way to kill an ivy is to burn it
I personally found a good strategy to be targeting the legs on the zombies.
Thx for the info
Finally....TIPS that are actually beneficial/useful!
One of the best tips is to learn to shoot zombies in the thigh to make them stagger and then run past. Huge ammo saver and very useful for zombies that you don't need to cross again or if you are just low on ammo.
“Just be sure to pack an umbrella.”

Welcome. This is the way I usually showcase a game on the channel and try my best to help others in doing so.
Thanks for the tips Boomstick, I never thought about putting the camera speed up completely, as well as the SWAT door peaking as well. Will be doing that on my next playthrough.
That backward sprint really does help conserve ammo/knife usage when you wouldn't really need it. Thanks for the video!
There some basics a lot of people seem to miss:
Best RE2 tip video by far, thank you. Will make playing 1st play through while minimizing spoilers experience very good. Thank you again 😁🙏
Love the cheeky names of these tips.
This are actually really good tips, and you didnt spoiled anything, well done y good sir
One tip I found helpful is shooting the legs of the zombies stunning them and allowing you to go around them, also while they are stunned you can almost walk right through them. It takes about two shots instead of a large amount to the head usually around 4-5

That theme for the concept art screen is so soothing yet chilling.
Tapping O or B in any direction your right thumb stick is pointing in will center the camera in that direction
You have to be running for that to be true, my friend (unless it is a quickturn).
Justin Oglesby I don’t think so, just whatever directing Leon is facing will ‘quickturn’ in that direction
I am telling you, you can NOT be standing still or walking - you have to be running to tap a direction to change the camera unless it is a 180 degree turn. Why would you say "I don't think so"? You own the game, literally just go play it and you will see that I am right.
Thanks for the tips I'm new to resident evil and just picked it up today. And I thought I should at least have an idea if what I'm doing lol.
Thanks for the field of view and the other setting advice. Will be practicing the 180 dodge later.
I didn't know about the quick 180 turn. Thanks
Great video. I already beat the game, but I still got a lot out of the video for my current play through! The back sprint to avoid grabs is awesome, and I plan to use it right now!
9:21 when I'm running away from MR X and when I open the door their is a Licker and some zombies in the room/corridor im trying to hide in
These are the best tips for the game, so far.
The map is by far the best I've been in most games. It's informative and intuitive, without giving too much away. They did a great job.
Thanks for the tips! Super helpful especially that trick to the dodge zombies

Lol. I tried to dodge zombies the old school way by making them lunge at me while backing up. Didn’t work, so I learned something new this video is just by sprinting backwards.
Subscribed for this vid alone. If your other gaming tips are this helpful then great work dude.
Before watching this I had doubts there was anything new I could learn. I was so wrong. Thanks for the tips!

The most vital tip is the backwards run. Thank you so much for that. It save so much time and herbs lmao
the zombie dodging is by far the most helpful tip i came across in this video
Ive almost beaten Claire's campaign on hardcore. Best advice I can give is, don't be afraid to run and everything is trial and error. Especially in hardcore.
Edit- Beat leon Standard S+, leond harcore was beaten but no s, beat leons 2nd campaign s+, Claires Standars S, Claires 2nd run S, also no s in harcore but im warching videos on speedruns for s rankong. But beat all campaigns and on all difficulties!
Facttssss!! Sheesh I died so many times on Leon's A
@@FrancisD what is Leon A? There is no Leon A in remake.
@@NateWolfKira most people refer to the standard campaigns as A scenario and the 2nd run mode as B scenario
(all things considered)
I will definitely keep the backwards sprint dodge in mind for zombies, though. I managed that same dodge for Mr X, but it's always better to flash grenade.
On larger enemies like Birkin, the knife can hit multiple times on a single swipe.
It also means the knife breaks faster.
Its because the higher fps the more damage the knife does
@@Josh42069 yeh I actually just found that out yesterday.
These are actually useful tips and not time wasting obvious tips. Keep up the good work.
This was an awesome video mate, straight to the point, no mucking around. Cheers.
Some of these tips I already knew. For an example, waiting for the enemy to charge at you then, running back then going around them. Good vid.
Thanks for the good (actually useful) tips. I had a lot of problems from trying to run past the single zombies I saw, and I did NOT know you could door peek!

Awesome video!
Backward sprint is extremely handy for knife only runs.
My two most basic tips are:
1 - Save your ammo, fight only when extremely necessary
2 - Two shoot the limbs of the zombies one-headshots are that common
Good luck.
This goes for gun powder and key items (such as the bracelet you need to keep upgrading)
you dont need to add a ! after everything you say lol
Man. This is why i joined Boomstick squad. This is by far the best tips video. Thanks Deadite
Welcome
Even IGN got in trouble for copying his reviews. One of their main writers got fired when he was caught copying almost word for word
Poetry In Death oh really? you don’t say
Another feature I found out. When your story items (Chain Cutter, Shaped Keys etc) have a red tick at the icon, that means it is used up completely and there is no more used of it. This saved me a ton as I have no idea if I still need the item in my inventory.
Thanks a lot. I'm going to practice the backsprint on PC.
HOLY SHIT that camera tip is godly
So glad I subbed after that Dead Cells BS. You make great content dude
I walk through this game and double tap any corpse on the ground like a paranoid rookie after all it's my first day on the job
Thank you so much for these!
Everything else I can think of has been said on another comment with 10 tips, nice video.
nice video! i wont be able to play the game for a while, but when i can ill be sure to remember these tips
Rooms I'd say to clear:
Both of these are "danger rooms."
Great vid good information
This game is so fun and frustrating at once. I’m going for the platinum and these tips will certainly help me. Thanks Boomstick
9:18 my favorite zombie
Iconic as fuck. Glad im not the only one
That zombie was in a shitload of ads for RE2 original
Wow... tips that are actually helpful, and aren't glaringly obvious!
I also found flash grenades to be very useful against Trenchy, when he corners you, stun that ass! and haul ass too!
Just speed run from when he appears to when you get out of the parking lot. After that he wont follow you anymore so you are free to explore.
Mr X cant be killed so save your ammo
If you out rum him, hide in some room, try to hold L1 and move or L2 and move so that you dont make noise and move away from him further until his footsteps fade away then come out of room and take distance lead
He chases your noise
Acid rounds with Claire's grenade launcher works wonders with him, I just used him to partially clear the police station most of the time, noise attracts him as well, so don't use any firearm and he won't come running....or stomping
I appreciate the tip about the backwards run to get past solo zombies, I'll be using it for sure. I have to say though, the knife does really good damage against the Birkin 1 & I believe 3
I do plan on getting this game, thanks for the tips.
I came into this not expecting to learn anything new especially after watching people speedrun the game many times but you actually got me with field of view. Nice one. Gonna try it later while I attempt to get my infinite rockets/chaingun
The tips about the settings in the menu really helped 👍
A thing I do is if I have a a flashback or a grenade I equip the sub weapon and if there are any spooky creatures on the other side of the door I push the door open then throw it then BAM I can run past them.
Thank you so much. I'm planning to start the game later today.
Ask any qs if u need to know something.
Thank you so much for the advice on the dodging. Ive been struggling with the timing to say the least
Thanks for the tips especially the point of view and the quick turn
#1 is the best. I feel like you'll naturally pick up on the rest of these tips by just playing the game once, but i really never thought of pulling aggro and then running back
Subbed thanks
Really good list, though I would add the fact that you can actually combine items that you pick up to items that are in your inventory, EVEN WHEN IT IS ALREADY FULL, which is a great tool when you worry about inventory management and backtracking to a safe room.
Great vid!!!
