DB's "closing argument " told me unequivocally who he is. No apology, no remorse, no civility, no decency. All about him. He has no soul. To get up there, cry, and only talk about how this has affected him made me nauseous. He needs to be locked up for the rest of his life. He would walk out that court and do it again without a thought, without blinking an eye.

Don't excuse him by saying he has mood swings. His "mood" is directly related to whether or not he is in control of everything, whether or not he is getting his way, and whether or not he is trying to make the jury feel sorry for him and excuse him for murdering and injuring all of those innocent people.

Consider the conversation in the courtroom AFTER the jury was sent into deliberations.
Darrel Brooks wanted to be returned to his cell, specifically because this was the bi weekly shower night for his “pod” but in more general terms because he just wanted to go back to his cell and get away from the trial. He had no interest in participating is discussion over what the jury could request, nor answering any questions they may have, other than to object to everything the state was willing to allow on the flimsiest of excuses. This is not the behavior of a man intent on defending himself. He simply didn’t care. That tells us his motivation for the past two weeks has been specifically to try and force a mistrial. Since that is no longer possible, he is not interested.
NOW ALSO consider his demeanor towards the judge. This man who has been rude and obnoxious for the past two weeks to this judge, taking every chance to question her qualifications and integrity as soon as she tells him that she will make every effort to makes sure he gets his shower tonight, becomes so warm and charming to her that he is almost flirting with her. How creepy is that? The person you claim is violating your civil rights suddenly becomes your best friend , or dare I say your “friend with benefits”???
Now I MUST BE CLEAR, I am not criticizing his request to retire to his cell, nor his obsession about getting back in time to get his shower. I can understand after being in the public eye for so much of the last two weeks he might want some privacy. I also understand his desire to be able to relax in a hot shower. Had he been on bail and not defending himself a trip home for a meal and a shower and a nap while at least some of his defense team remaining at the courthouse would have been completely ordinary. I am strictly focusing on his abrupt change in his behavior once he finally gets his way in some small measure with a woman he has been arguing with for two weeks straight.
It wouldn’t surprise me if he tells himself that her granting his request is based on his personality finally winning her over, rather than simply him finally making a reasonable request.
And we can fully expect him to blow up when his next request is denied because it is unreasonable

considering we heard crying from what could be the jury during the prosecution closing, and the more important fact that he brought up jury nullification which calls for an immediate mistrial if found not guilty, I'm more worried that the jury will hang and a new trial will have to be made, which will be very hard on the witness and family as they have to go through all this again.
Edit: jury crying was speculation from quite a few lawyers watching the stream, as they thought it based on the microphone but it's speculation. Whether or not someone is crying in the jury is not as important as Brooke bringing up nullification during his closing
