- Join me in Castles 2 Siege & Conquest, a retro game for DOS and Amiga, popular in its day, now a long forgotten hidden gem.
Castles 2 Siege & Conquest is an RTS game from 1992. Made by Interplay for both MS-DOS, and Amiga, it was a popular RTS. You run tasks to generate resources, carry out attacks, and manage your kingdom. You goal is to conquer the entire map.

I'm playing through lots of vintage games, retro DOS, Amiga, and Windows 95 games. There's a huge library of retro dos games out there and it has never been easier to play them on modern hardware.

I made a lot of mistakes in this video but my lets play corrects most of them!
I’m so glad I found your channel!
Looking forward to more content i only played castles as a kid
My obsession with resource management strategy games began with this game.
So as soon as you got into the gameplay, I realized why you were having so much trouble getting through on easy levels.
You are right, this is a task game, and you HAVE to keep your tasks going at ALL TIMES. You lost 9 days of food gathering right out the gate. Also, in the first year, you have to attack the adjacent realms, even if you haven't scouted them yet, and claim the neighboring lands. Once fall arrives, you can work on building your army, but you should be able to get through the first few attacks with no losses, as long as you don't attack another player. When you do attack, you can put all of your archers and infantry on the same pixel. This allows the archers to put maximum fire on one target at a time, and actually causes the enemy who is target firing your infantry to not be able to hit the same one constantly. (You can micro it further by putting them on adjacent pixels and micro-managing using the pause button like expert starcraft players would do their units.)
If you do make an attack and you get the message that you're attacking The Pope, or a major faction, just re-load. But scout one territory, attack another, and ALWAYS keep gathering food and timber in spring and summer, and gold and iron in fall and winter. And you will be playing the highest level in no time!
Good luck!
@@daytonduck Thanks for the tips! I noticed the seasons change but didn’t know they changed the resources! Very interesting.
@@CopperPlaysRetro they make resource gathering for food and timber, and military attacks, (and I think castle construction) work more slowly
I loved this game..
pure nostalgia
This was the first CD game I ever bought. I think I watched the movies more than I played the game.
I was wondering where the movie clips were from, I just finished the game for the first time and in the credits it says they are from a BBC documentary called Lionheart, and a 1933 movie called The private life of henry viii
I was a kid and had the demo version and it would quit after a set amount of time. But I was too young and dumb to understand that, I thought I was losing and it wasn't telling me why. So I kept doing crazy rushes to win when there was no chance.
Drove me nuts.
This hit my tagliatelle bone though.
Heeeeelll yeah, I remember! I spent a TON of my childhood hours playing this on Mac!
...Still never really understood all of it ;p Such a good game though. Very addictive. Love the castle-building and sieges. Music is good too.
26:20: Oooo And battles like this, as well as all the sabotage, are what made the game so frustrating 😑
@@catbert7 yeah I’m still not sure how the diplomacy works! Cheers
Vikings and Germany Edition good game on PC , games played only map but very good game.
I've added viking to my list, cheers!
6:18 The movie is "Alexander Nevsky", by soviet director Sergei Eisenstein
