correction: premature rupture of membrane is the rupture of the membrane before the onset of labor. its not necessary for it to be before 37 weeks, if it happens after 37 weeks, we would still call it premture rupture of membrane. what armando got confused is, ifthe gestational age is above 37 weeks then its called term PROM but if it is less than 37 weeks, then its called preterm PROM
I really liked the drawings in this video! I'm a student midwife and always appreciate a visual. One small comment...crowning doesn't occur until stage two, when the baby's head is visible at the vaginal opening and doesn't slip back into the vagina. When the head is at a cervix that is 10cm dilated, it's called being fully dilated. The baby's head can now pass out of the uterus into the vagina and the woman can begin to push, hooray!
following up as another midwifery student - and yes, crowing happens at the perineum, when the babys head (or whatever the presenting part is) is visible at the vaginal opening and doesn't 'rock back' any more. crowning doesn't happen at the cervix.
very great and informative video that helps introducing labour process!! i learnt alot from your video I'm leaving a comment to correct the term "premature rupture of membrane" Prelabour rupture of membrane (PROM): rupture of membrane >37 week Preterm prelabour rupture of membrane (PPROM) : the condition u talked in video Now people have stopped using the term "premature" in describing the condition because it causes confusion. Although you may find it on google, but it is not correct
good lecture...but rupture of membranes before 37 weeks is PPROM(PRETERM PREMATURE RUPTURE OF MEMBRANE). PROM is rupture after 37 weeks but before the onset of labour. Also crowning is when maximum diameter of foetal head stretches vulva and does not recede in between contractions.
Thank you for your ever-amazing videos! I've been taught that the hormone which influences the formation of the cervical mucus plug is progesterone, not estrogen. Since progesterone is dominant during pregnancy.
Awesome Video! Thank you for your level of detail and especially the drawings! They help A LOT. I especially appreciate that you point out what every single thing is in your drawings, even if you've drawn it before/ said it before.
Thankyou Armando Hasudungan for creating all these wonderful vidoes. Your videos are presented in a very understandable and unforgettable way. Everytime when i have presentation in class your video's help me to do a very nice presentation. Thankyou very much and keep up the good work.🤗🙏
You are the finest teacher I have ever seen .. very clearly u reached all the things to me ... Next stage of labour and many videos related to gyne...waited 😀☺☺
You had me until 3cm is Active, and 10 cm is "crowning". 5cm is considered active nowadays, and at 10cm we consider someone "complete". "crowning" refers to the head being visible at the perineum. keep up the good work though! are your colouring pages available to be printed?
nice video.... but the term premature rupture remain de rupture of the amniotic sac before the start of the uterine contraction, and doesn't nothing to do with the weeks of gestation..... however preterm premature membrane rupture does
Sir, can you please make the videos of stage 2 and stage 3 labour also this videos of yours are very helpful to me. So please make more of these videos, thankyou sir.
Thank you for your sharing of knowledge and outstanding illustrations! The chemistry behind the laboring woman is never fully learned and I sincerely appreciate your voice of expertise in the matter; you really break down the happenings and the counter happenings so clearly. It is very helpful that your work is both intricate and multi-layered, but also easy to comprehend. #birthinglittlehumans
Im 35 weeks pregnant, I had bloody show and went to the hospital and they said im on preterm labour but my uterus is not contracting. Can you show us some pathologies during the 1st stage of labour particularly at latent phase.
'Failure to progress' doesn't seem in itself cause for medical intervention. Are there other things to explore to help labour flow? Are there things 'failure to progress' could indicate?
Huge amount of obstetric intervention highlighted in this video. What happened to letting the woman birth her baby in peace? "Failure to progress" and putting dilation into figures per hour/s seems a bit presumptuous - surely every woman is different, therefore having different pregnancies and different births?? Other than that I love the drawings, really clear and informative. I have been following your videos for some time now, usually I give a 5* !!
I have exam 2morrow and you have been my savior , Thankyou ❤
Did you oass?
Unbelievable, you made it very simple, easily understandable, i wish i knew this channel while i was in the medical school 👍🏻
Iam still medicine school so this helps alot
InstaBlaster...
I'm now 22 weeks on my pregnancy and glad to see this video. It's very informative at the same time scary since it's my first time.

Errata : Premature Rupture of Membranes is >37 weeks and transition from latent to active is 6cm of cervical dilation

thank you so much, as a midwifery students planning to take the licensure exam this coming April this is very helpful.
