I was pre-eclamptic with my son, and the magnesium gave me a terrible headache. I couldn't get comfortable because I had to remain lying on my left side. At one point, I became confused and tried to take out my IVs and go home. An angel of a nurse saved me from myself. I continued to have high BP for a few months after having my son. It was a terrible, frightening time, but 16 years later, we're still here and healthy. Bless all the mothers and babies who had to go through this awful ordeal.
The best video explanation of preeclampsia! You guys always kill it. Whoever does the animation, give that person a pat on the back, because this is amazing.
At 33 weeks, we found out my baby was severe IUGR, I was asymptomatic the entire time, but my blood work did show elevated placental enzymes (there’s a ratio-fetal:placental that was elevated)…my systolic BP was only 133. At 34 weeks I woke up with mild cramps, checked into triage, my systolic was 165 and baby was bradycardic and delivered via emergency c section within 5 mins of being triaged. I am a perfectly healthy 30 yr old first time mom with no prior history of hypertension, diabetes or obesity. The day I delivered my baby was the day I was supposed to see a high risk specialist (God works in mysterious ways). I’m an ER nurse and I understand this stuff, but for some reason my care team kept dancing around the issue. In the OR My systolic shot to the 200s and they put me on Magnesium sulfate For 24hrs and labetalol. This Video was incredibly helpful, I wondered about the connection btwn hypertension in preeclampsia and IUGR to the fetus. Thank you for a clear cut explanation!
My story similar to yours with my 2nd baby I was healthy with a history of normal 1st pregnancy at 33 wk I had 2 Bp reading of 140/90 and was closely monitored then suddenly at 34 wks I went into labor and bleeding with a bp of 180/120 the bleeding was a placental abruption I had to deliver immediately bc the baby was in distress I was told if I had come in 5 mins later the outcome could have been tragic. The day I went into labor I was supposed to see a high risk dr too!
I hope osmosis realises that videos like are absolute gold for students out there like myself! Amazing crisp and concise video. Thank you so much, keep up the good work😊
My pregnant wife has edema in the legs, high BP and high proteinuria, right now at 36 weeks. She went to our GP to check in the check swelling and now we just had a night of monitoring the fetus at the hospital, collecting urine samples, and measuring BP. All good on the baby and we will keep monitoring the situation in ambulant care. Thanks for the clear illustration! The gynaecologists often don't have time to clearly explain what is going on.
I had preeclampsia and was hospitalized for 2 weeks at 7.5 months. Labor induced after a week and came home when he was a week old after I got better. My OB never moved me from my pre-delivery room even after my baby was born so that I could remain right next to nurses station where I got excellent care from all. Thank GOD my husband and I came home with a beautiful healthy baby boy who was 5wks premature but got up to 5lb 3oz at time of discharge and had healthy lungs. I truly hope the same for all🙏
I was diagnosed with preeclampsia n mild edema. I have also lost my baby girl on 3rd August. I m 37 years old and it was my first pregnancy. My bp is still high nd i m on medication and using labetalol twice a day . I m very scared of being pregnant again in future. My doc has told me to plan a baby atleast after 4 month . 😢
Jesus loves you and you’ll see her again one day words will never be able to explain what kind of pain that is like so I hope and wish you nothing but lots of love and peace 💖
hello i don't know about it at all . because i am student . i read book .they said in preeclampsia, edema is primarily driven by factors such as endothelial dysfunction, hypertension, and fluid retention, rather than low protein or albumin levels.soo edema not cause from low protein in blood . thanks .
@@SalmaBarsat i know but the main cause of edema is not cause from losing albumin . Iit cause frol endothelial dysfunction . Low alumin also cause it too but not the main one
Is it any medicine for it please? Because my wife has it and she is very 😢😢😢😞😞😕. So it makes me feel sad 😔. And it's getting very bad for us in our relationship ❤😢. So please it's any medicine 💊 for it please 🙏? Thanks you
Is it possible to have preeclampsia but have only liver enzymes I am 33 weeks pregnant and five days I have liver enzymes that just keep going up I’ve been in the hospital for last seven days but my doctors have been unable to determine what it is I have had preeclampsia before so had my mom I do have type 2 diabetes, as well as I am considered obese
I'm so annoyed. With my first, I was induced at 40w4d for labile bp and proteinuria but was told the proteinuria must not have met the cutoff to qualify as pre-eclampsia. With my 3rd, my bp was 186/167 when admitted (in labor), they did no urine tests, and told me I had severe pre-eclampsia and that the diagnostic criteria had changed to only needing the high bp. This is saying that pre-eclampsia is an actual *thing* and not just high bp? Does anyone know anything about this damn thing???

I had to comment on this. that was very insightful
Since pathophysiology is based on placenta, how can it develop up to 6 weeks after delivery? Is there a different patho in those cases?
Good question
I trust this chanel more than my books😅Btw thanks for the simple detailed explanation.

My BP was 160/101 with pitting edema, no proteinuria and I was diagnosed with pre-eclampsia. This was 16 years ago.
