    MISTAKE ANNOUNCEMENT! Umbilical arteries arise from internal iliac arteries not from Inferior Vena Cava!

    I think that vessel is called ductus arteriosos only. Patent is when it persists in adult life.

      It is patent after birth too.It closes within hrs or days after birth.It is a boon in certain congenital heart defects like D-TGA.

    Despite the error of correcting the" umbilical arteries arise from the internal iliac arteries, not iliac veins", it's the most comprehensive yet simple video on foetal circulation I have seen and listened to. Thank you so much.

    This is wrong Im afraid. The umbilical arteries arise form the internal iliac arteries, not iliac veins as you have drawn it.

    Why he is telling patent ductus arteriosus?
    PDA is a condition when the Duct is not closed after birth. Before birth it is only ductus arteriosus

    Mistake: it’s not a PATENT ductus arteriosus until and unless the baby is born. As long it’s still in the womb it’s only: Ductus Arteriosus

    Umbilical arteries originates from aorta (internal iliac) and not from inferior vena cava as shown in ur diagram. Kindly check & revert back.
