    I don't know what is it about people wanting to go ALL digital, ALL electric, ALL "eco friendly". I think that in reality what you are doing is giving away your right to choose, your right to have control, and I think people don't realize that. They all think that what's new is always "cool".

    • @FaffyWaffel
      @FaffyWaffel Год назад

      You can’t have it all. Convenience AND control at a mass scale is just not realistically attainable.

    eSIM makes it a lot easier for carriers to track what phone you are using. With sim you can just pop it into any phone. Overall, for customers there are some pros with lifestyle upgrades and some cons. Aka. with physical sim you can more easily have multiple profiles and it's easier to switch network. But there's also the con, it's harder to switch between devices. Overall, there's definitely some improvement in convenience, but also demerits.
    But most importantly, this presents huge opportunity for third parties to track you more effectively. Reducing your privacy.

    • @portman8909
      @portman8909 Год назад +6

      But at the same time adds security. If your phone was lost or stolen then they can't remove the SIM from your phone. This gives you time to erase the device remotely.

    • @raulhdeza
      @raulhdeza Год назад +8

      @@portman8909 that's always the catch. The selling point is always about your "safety", but the real deal is to have you controlled.

    • @mukkaar

      @@portman8909 True, I personally think we should just have both. It's not like sim tray takes much space.

      You're delusional if you think you aren't trackable with removable SIM cards. I'll agree switching phones is a pain with eSIM, but it has nothing to do with tracking. There are plenty of other apps/sensors to track your whereabouts, even without any data. Unless you do something and never let that phone see the internet again, it's trackable.
      If I were wanting to track someone and they yanked their data connection, I'm not just going to go "welp, can't do anything now..." I'm going to track them offline, then collect all that data once it's back online. Don't care what the connection is, I'll get that data.
      If you think switching carriers is stopping that in any fashion, that's hilarious.

    Wow, that e-sim site actually still kinda seems expensive af relative to what you'd pay in the local countries, even at the airport. Would a better option not be to have your main sim as an E-sim & then put in a physical local sim when needed?

    I think for a short term solution its a great idea but definitely not long term. Security issues everywhere as with any personal ID token, and inevitably will get breached or compromised. The longer you have it out there in the big bad world, and sign up or authenticate with it, the more access points there are to exploit. Hell even 2FA is breachable now if you know what you are doing. Exact same reasoning why you never put an EFTPOS terminal on a Wi-Fi network

    E-sim clearly gives better security. Instead of an optional separate PIN for the physical sim that most people forget to configure, you got the e-sim that shares the same mandatory screen log-in security that almost everybody uses.

    One Thing missing, whether esim phones are locked or unlocked to any specific networks?

    • @eliminatorxx713xx
      @eliminatorxx713xx Год назад

      Basically the same issues when having a physical sim. If the phones runs GSM networks and you are trying to run a CDMA network on it; it obviously won’t work. Same if the phone is network restricted. Usually happens when a device is bought from a specific network like ATT. They usually have a requirement for you to use phone in network for 2years or so before you can call an request an unlock. And even then you can only run GSM networks like T-Mobile on it. Hope that helps.
