And your story reminds me of my childhood, bb guns, biking everywhere, catching crayfish to catching my first fish with worms we dug ourselves.... this brought me back like my carefree youth was yesterday!!! Thanks again man.
Thanks for listening. This was interesting to make because the more I developed the story, the more memories came flooding back to me, lot's of little things that I hadn't though much about for years. I'm glad you enjoyed it and thanks for listening.
Hope all is well out your way on the east coast with all the storms pushing through. God Bless and be safe brother, looking forward to seeing more videos from you. God Speed
We fortunately had a near miss. Just some wind and rain. I couldn't be happier. Thanks for the concern Wolf. I'll be heading down to the beach with my cameras to see what Mother Nature has done to the structure.
Great to hear, glad to hear all is well. Seems you’ll have to find new beach hot spots to fish since I’m sure the surf will be completely changed. Looking forward to your vids be safe out there and God Speed.
Thanks very much for the story. I'm only 37 but I grew up in a rural area. My childhood reminds me much of the tales you tell. Grabbing my fishing pole at a young age and slipping off into the mountains to stand knee deep in freezing mountain streams in January trying to catch native brook trout, staying out after dark hunting deer with my mother worried sick, getting into mischief with less than desirable company to my parents. Times have changed so much just since I was a kid. My dad told me stories of him slipping into a few water supplies when he was a kid and seeing giant bass and catching huge bluegill. He was born in 1951. Much simpler times. You relate them so well. Thanks again!
Rich, that was a great listen while i am working and thinking about the next Striper run.... I am norfolk local, if you want to get a coffee someday and let me pick your brain a lil. I would gladly meet you somewhere... looking forward to part 2...
You tell a great story. That is how I remember those days. I'm just 3 weeks older than you and have been blessed to grow up then. Thanks for the memories.
Thank you Steve and thanks for taking the time to hear it. Writing this story was an interesting process. My older sister still lives there. She was a senior when we moved and she moved back immediately after high school. I still consider Milford my home. Times were definitely different back then, that's for sure. Much more chance of bodily injury, but way more memories to carry though your life.
Hi Andrew. Your name seems familiar to me, have we met? Not planning another assessment anytime soon. The last one took months of digging through the bs, research, writing recording, editing, graphics, etc. I was pretty burnt out when I was done. I am curious how the 2011 and 2015 year classes are going to pan out, so I may do a follow up on that, but nothing near the scope of the original.
@@richtroxler We haven't met as far as I know, I've commented on some of your videos in the past. Your assessment video was insanely thorough and it's understanding going that in depth would be mentally draining. Have a safe and merry christmas/ holiday. Your videos are appreciated from a fellow angler.
Working through your The View From The Beach series - thanks for sharing. Headed to North Myrtle Beach in a few weeks, can you share any intel? I figured out how fish in neighborhood creek. I was six years old with line wrapped around hand and size 12 hooks catching minnows that made lasting memories and influenced many life decisions. New subscriber.
North Myrtle Beach is quite a bit south of me, but I have to figure that red drum would be around as would a variety of sharks. Certainly ground species like Sheepshead should be available also, particularly from a pier or bulkhead. Best source of Intel is discussion boards (Google up fishing reports for NMB) and especially the local bait and tackle shops. Spend a little money on bait and ask a few questions. They have a vested interest in putting you on fish. Thanks for listening to my story and watching my videos. I hope they help you.
This comment just popped up in my feed under "not responded". Apparently it's from 4 years ago. I'm not sure what happened but please accept my most sincere apologies for not responding to your post. I try to respond to everybody who posts on my channel, so a belated thank you for watching my video.
Hey Rich, I was wondering if you could help me out with a buying decision I'm trying to make. I'm trying to decide between boot foot waders and stocking foot waders. I't a tough decision for me because I want to walk long distances on the beach so I need good support from the boots in order to keep my knees in good health. So I hear bootfoot waders wouldn't be helpful with that because I hear they do not offer good support, but the benefits of bootfoot waders is that they keep cold water out, I'm from NJ so this crucial. But I think stocking foot waders can do the same if they have a drysuit stocking foot, but I wouldn't know what boot or flats shoe to pair them with because I think Krokers boots would be too heavy to walk long distances on the sand with, and if I go with a flats shoe I don't if sand getting in it would be too much of hassle. I think my health/longevity is the main priority especially my knees. Sorry for the long comment. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Hi Joe. I'm 66 at the moment and my feet and legs aren't what they used to be lol. I've always used, and continue to use boot-foot waders/ I've heard of issues with sand getting into footwear with stocking foot waders, but if you're of a mind to go in that direction for support, I'd get a pair of footwear specific for fishing, like the ones with felt soles which it's my understanding that they help traction in sand, but can't speak from experience. If you go stocking foot, try putting duct tape around the tops after lacing them up to help keep sand out. If you go boot foot, get a pair that fits snug with a couple pair of socks. I do a fair amount of walking, usually with a shoulder cooler with ice and bait, and a couple rods, and the boot foot waders work for me. Sand is tough to walk in regardless of the boot type lol. Good luck and thanks for watching.
Awesome! The old trick question in statistics. "In a room of 25 people, what are the odds of someone have the same birthday as you?" Answer: 50/50. Thanks for listening. I hope you enjoyed my story.
