@@markuptontrumpet Thank you Mr Upton. Terrific for this 80-year-old codger to see someone with such a rare talent and exercise it so consistently. My compliments to you and your very talented colleagues - a joy to see and hear.
I've listened to a number of trumpet renditions over time of this song and don't believe anyone comes close to Mark Upton's playing ability. Simply outstanding! I could listen to this over and over, and I certainly have.
@@mrmyigai-dough4779 I should have included the Flugelhorn in my comment. His upper range is so controlled, which he certainly demonstrates on the Trumpet. There are a lot of screamers out there, but his control and purity of sound is is unmatched, certainly on this piece.
The Band is absolutely outstanding and of course the Flugelhorn & Trumpet Solos are brilliant. What a great memento to Derek Watkins! Thanks Mark for this 8:38 min of excellent music.
After 9 years have passed, but the immense talent you have is still intact with an ease with the instrument, but that must have required a lot of work to achieve such results.
Awesome playing!!! Great orchestra and arrangements!!! Trumpet question: .why the cheek puffing? Seems like you play in some other videos without inflating your cheeks. Perhaps it helps with compression? 🤷🏾♂️🎺
This arrangement was written by Trev Naughton. It was taken from the James Last arrangement, played by Derek Watkins. It was arranged for the 2009 Mountbatten Festival of Music, at The Albert Hall, London.
Wow just listened again to that recording and it gets better every time. Derek Watkins, the godfather of lead trumpet would have been proud!!!
I studied this piece with him!
For a moment I thought I was listening to Derek Watkins. Bravo !

Thank you king! The check puffing is the facial muscles resisting against the air during high compression. Thanks for the support.
the best is from minute 3.20 to 5.30
