    Came here to comment that you don't even need to open up the case to swap the screen. This will give you a lower chance of screwing something up since you don't go near the board. You can just remove the bezel (easily), pull adhesive strips and then disconnect the 30-pin connector. There are other videos on RUclips showing the method I just described on the E15 Gen 2. I just swapped mine in under 10 minutes.

      Forgot to mention you should disable battery power in BIOS settings before doing this!

    Did you have to apply new adhesive when reinstalling the new replacement screen?

    I also have the same model and the screen is little bi dim. is it normal or there is a problem with the configurations

    • @thepcphone
      @thepcphone  2 года назад

      Is that from the beginning or suddenly it has changes? sometimes video driver issue could cause this problem. and some screen has matt finish and those are always look faded.

    start process is big mistake! go into bios and disable the internal battery! this is important, as opening the case you can cause a short either touching components or while removing the display cables! which can cause backlight filter fuses to go caboom!
    1) disable internal battery in bios. crucial!
    2) open the bottom case cover
    3) disconnect the battery! much more crucial then the 1st stage!
    4) disconnect wires/cables disconnect hinge screws...
    5) remove lcd case
    6) now crucial part is lcd frame bezels has double sided tapes on them, and they can get harder/stronger! what he did/how he removed the bezel (front plastic on top of the lcd) is very very wrong!
    here is the reason: if this is an already damaged lcd, not much issue, but if you are not replacing the lcd, but bezel? rear cover? camera etc, you can and will damage the lcd due to strong adhesion between the bezel and the lcd ! so you have to test this with a plastic spudger to see if it is strong or not. if it is strong, you gotta use some heat to loosen/melt the sticky tape/glue material, so you can remove the bezel without damaging the lcd!
    i removed and replaced many lcds doing just like he did, and learned the hard way. lcd bezel has stick tapes between them, kind of dust/water protection/barrier, just like in phones! the harder it is, the more careful you have to be!
    also battery disable/disconnect is as much important if not the most! because it happened to me once out of 100s without issue, one time cable disconnect caused a short while battery was attached, and backlight was gone!
    always disable/remove/disconnect battery first before starting any procedure! and check adhesive as well esp on thinkpads, they all have double sided tapes between the bezel and lcd!
    good luck, and proceed with caution.

      After following this video and replaced the screen. I can hear the laptop running but the screen is still black, connected hdmi to another monitor to test and it also does not recognize. What do you think could be the cause for this?

    • @mytester6208
      @mytester6208 Год назад

      @@DatTran-kl3rz first check if the lcd is actually working? shine a powerful torch/flash light at the screen and see if you can see anything on the screen (if screen is ok, but backlight fuse blown, you will still get pic but because no backlight it will be dark, only way to see image is shining flashlight at the screen and look from angles)
      use/press f12 menu key so it stops at the menu selection then use torch light to see if you can see/read anything on the screen? if you cant see anything, it may be some other component preventing the start up.
      if it is backlight? using flashlight, you can bypass the bios menus, and go to windows, only in windows u ll get a hdmi output as the default output is internal, unless you change it from bios menu (which is already hard to see using torchlight, but doable)

    • @mytester6208
      @mytester6208 Год назад

      @@DatTran-kl3rz if you can see pic using flashlight, then the problem is already fuse issue, which is a very very small component, i fixed it by shorting it (making permanent fuse but if you never done soldering it is hard. u may need microscope or very high magnifying glass and very small tip iron

    • @DatTran-kl3rz
      @DatTran-kl3rz Год назад

      @@mytester6208 i don't think the issue is with the screen since connecting it to another monitor does not work (it was working fine until screen replacement). Holding the power button over 30s does not shut the laptop down now. I really wonder what could cause this.

    • @mytester6208
      @mytester6208 Год назад

      @@DatTran-kl3rz try reset button, inside the case (if case open) or using a toothpick, through small hole at the bottom case?
      screen replacement (with battery connected) can cause a short and fuse blow, doesnt stop displaying output, but since you dont where you are stuck at boot process hard to tell?, if fuse issue, flash light will show, if not possibly you may have shorted more stuff inside?
