Peter was such a Mensch and his comments were so awesome that I didn't feel like editing it down much so I've added time stamps for easy skipping if you can't watch the whole episode. But, trust me when I say that it was an amazing convo. He really appreciates all of you and the fanbase a lot. Apologies we couldn't get to all the questions but he answered many of them as he spoke! Thanks for the amazing questions too :)
@@MarcoMeatball Please, I have only one request, please. If you will do a video with him (or also with other Square Enix voice actors/actess), please ask hiw how the adaptation works for him, what happen, if he see something about that part of the translation of the game. Because FF14 has a lot of changes in the dialogues and in the info that will arrive to the player, and these we've seen tons of changes/differences in other Square Enix games too, in the last years (for example FF7R, but also FF7R trailers and FF16 trailers). I know that usually they need to do an adaptation, for things that are difficult to translate, but they're not supposed to change the informations that the spectator should receive. A japanese player and a non-japanese player are supposed to receive the same info/same sensations from the game. However, the english adaptation did tons of changes in those games and there are also problematic changes. An example is the dialogue with Emet before the fight against Hades: in english he watch the player and say "No, it cannot be!", however in japanese he uses another phrase, which implies that he recognizes the Ascian of our shape, and the japanese player understand it, however in english it's not so clear and tons of player didn't understand it (also because, if I remember well, in that point of the story we don't know it too). Or, to make other examples, in FF7R the english adaptation changed a part Jessie personality, which appear more acid in a scene when she is only supposed to do a joke and bee more cheerful. Or again, in FF16 trailers, they changed tons of info, for example in the first trailer they totally changed the phrase that say that Joshua (the child) is the MC brother. Those are all important info, both for the plot and/or the world/character building. However the english adaptation changed all of them and that's why I'm soo afraid of english adaptation for the future Square Enix games, because if they do all those changes, at the end of the day we will not play the "true game", as the authors wanted them to be in their mind. We will play them through an invasive adaptation filter.
If you got to speak with Emet Selchs voice actor that would be amazing. I would love to hear his thoughts on how beloved Emet has become in the FFXIV community when Emet started out as our main antagonist
It's crazy to me hearing the voice actors never really met. Like up until the end of EW the chemistry and bond between the characters feels so real, which in most part is thanks due to the VA's work in showing emotions.
Thancred becoming Dadcred is the greatest glow-up. Like Peter said, clearly nothing that wasn't there already to some degree, but getting to see it brought to the surface and developed was such good character storytelling. It's almost comical how perfectly the role shift from DPS to Tank summarizes his character journey, going from "I'm just here to hit stuff" to "I will take hits to protect other people". * *chef's kiss* * By ShB but especially in EW, I always viewed Thancred and my WoL as being kinda besties. Like, they're just on the same wavelength about a lot, and where they differ they tend to balance each other. Special place in my heart for Thancred, yeah. :)
I miss the old "My turn!". :( What was wrong with it?! I was shocked to hear the change on my first post-patch trust run. I mean, Estinien is still yelling anyway, and he's not the only one, and good share of Thancred's battle shouts belong to "his loud-and-emotional self" too. Thank you for the great video! It was good to see the man largely responsible for our charming GNB spymaster. Good writing is important, but it's VA who gives character soul and makes him..real. Hopefully, Thancred had already wrapped up whatever he was doing, because I want my best tank back for the new upcoming dungeon!
I love the Endwalker trailer but they really set the bar so damn high with the Shadowbringers trailer, literal chills beyond chills. The Sin Eater descending from the golden sky, the job change animations, the timing of the music drops, complete masterpiece.
Aaah I'm screaming! Thancred has always been a favorite of mine and I always get weepy during the Ryne/Thancred scenes because of how well the voice acting is. Peter Bramhil really knows how to use his voice to evoke emotions from the listeners! A talented VA and I'm so happy I could see him come as a guest for one of my favorite RUclipsrs 🤩
MARCO!! ;A; I didn’t know my question would get in there, it brings me so much joy to know he enjoyed himself! Peter is such a sweetheart and I’m so thankful to have seen this interview. Everyone’s questions were awesome, You guys were great, thank you for doing this 💎
I met Peter at a Final Fantasy Convention in London this year. I cosplayed SB Thancred and I loved that I got the chance to show it off to him. Peter was an incredibly kind and genuine person and I'm really glad I got to meet him. He signed my Gunblade which was amazing!
Omg. I was wondering why they changed "MY TURN!" I miss the old delivery. Thank you for putting this interview together. You did a great job with it. Lots of interesting insight. Thanks for including my question, hope it wasn't too left field.
"This is Thancred" 24:47 Thank you for this interview! Awesome work, Marco and Peter! Some interviews I see don't feel very respectful to the interviewee's time or experience, so I appreciate the space you both gave each other. I'll never forget how amazing he was when my friends bought me a cameo of Peter slating my name the same way he says "My Turn!" Love that he's seen the scenes and knows the memes! Would love to see Jeremy Ang Jones in one of these~!
I would love to see René Zagger coming to chat (voice of Emet-Selch). He's done such a fantastic job creating one of Final Fantasy as a series best villains, and I'd love to hear him talk about it, as well as his reaction to Emet memes.
What an incredible interview! He looked genuinely happy to be there and chat with you about the game and his experiences 😄 Im excited to hopefully see more of this!
This was a most well spent hour, indeed! Loved the interview and it would be wonderful to see more like this! And of course. There couldn't be a finer Thankred.
The algorithm brought me to your VA interviews, this is the second one I'm watching today! I just watched the one with Colin and Bethan first. I thought you only did music analysis, so I'm so incredibly pleased with this series!! And I love how you've conducted these interviews. They're very thoughtfully done. I hope you can get time to talk to the Dawntrail American VAs too!
Amazing video and interview! Peter is such a kindhearted and interesting guy! I'm surprised my little meme question about "MY TURN!" not only got answered, but he brought it up himself!
This was absolutely fantastic. All I needed was to know that he was aware of the memes XD I love that he's so chill and willing to talk with you. He's so engaged with Thancred's storyline and growth and I'm happy to see that voicing him has been a great experience.
Really fascinating peaking behind the curtain to see all the aspects of separation, for lack of a better term, that goes into recording this game. Voice acting is so strange to think about because the experience of the actors really is so different than what the players ultimately experience. Thank you for the interview!
Oh, my husbando voice! I love it so much as I love the british accent. Thank you, it was an amazing interview, it's nice to know that the VA of my favorite scion is also a kind, talented professional and will be forever in our hearts when we comeback to remember all those moments when we felt joy, sadness, hype, tenderness, anguish, love, all of this thanks to his hard work.
This was an amazing interview, found myself smiling through the whole thing. I personally think you were an excellent host for this. Keep up the good work Marco! I'm looking forward to what comes next!
What an amazing and intriguing interview! Peter has such a fun and thoughtful energy. Hope to see more interviews in the future! Would love to see Alisae, Y'shtola, Emet, honestly whoever! This cast is amazing and I love to see how each member tackles and evolved into their role!
This is a great bit of chit chat that gives an understanding into Peter's voice acting, how he immediately thought of Cary Elwes in Princess Bride as being similar to Thancred. He seemed to thoroughly enjoy Shadowbringers trailer. Though, only those with no soul don't like Shadowbringers.
The interview was wonderful! I really enjoyed every second of it, getting insights into how the voice actors work and how they do their beautiful performances, it's great! Peter is also such a friendly person, it would be lovely to meet him in person! Thancred's growth through the story was phenomenal, and I think most evident of all the Scions, when we meet him in Shadowbringers it's like he's a whole new man, but it doesn't feel jarring in a large part, I think, because of Peter's brilliant performance (and good writing of course). It makes sense for the character, makes sense for what he's been through, and his relationship with Ryne.
Awesome interview and talk with Peter! You did a great job, Marco! Hope you are able to get other FFXIV VA's in the future! And yeah, I miss the old "MY turn!!" voice line. They toned it down considerably.
That was the quickest hour I swear I could hear you both talk for hours. What a great interview/talk. I hope you do more of these and I hope this video does well for you. So good! ♥
What a great interview! I hope you get to interview more of the VAs. As much as I would love to hear from G'raha/Jonathan Bailey, he would probably be hard to get with his recent spike in fame with Bidgerton. I always wonder if he knows how loved G'raha is. 😭 Emet or Zenos would also be amazing.

In case Peter sees this comment, Ryne does indeed mean "blessing" in Fae. Urianger says it immediately after Thancred names her.
His goodbye to Minfilia gets me everytime 😭😭 I love him thank you for this interview
