I hope that by the time I need a new GPU, Intel's GPUs will have matured enough to bring some strong competition to AMD and NVIDIA. That 24gb and its rasterization performance should last awhile. I have a feeling that the 5000 series will be a completely underwhelming thing besides the 5090. Because Nvidia simply has no reason to make any cards inbetween a 5070 and 5090 that would get anywhere close. AMD is struggling, and i have a feeling Intel will never catch up before being axed.
intel is not going to axe - at worst, they will just go iGPU only once those can satisfy low-end AND mid-tier shoppers in two mobile gens or thereabouts. their most recent mobile part shows that idea to not to be far-fetched, and AMD is not to far behind them (if you also consider batter life and non gaming). I think we will get AT LEAST one more since Celestial is already in the works right now, and the GPU's that launch this December will likely sell enough even if they are driver wise ok (anything is better than alchemist launch lol)
Don't know why one would believe the specs are unbelievable when we already know the price will be sky high. They have to produce something at what has become these insane price points for mid tier.
So what? Did the 3060 a low/mid tier card ever reqch its 12gb limit with playable conditions? No it didnt. It was a 1080p card and it would have been fine with 10gb

Is Nvidia using VRam to force potential buyers into higher price categories? I only ask because, while I understand that this is in NO WAY a direct comparison, Intel's Arc 770 seemed to throw 16gb of VRam without giving it a second thought. What does adding VRam to a video card entail? Does that process justify the changes in price? 🤔Discuss.
Historically the ti's only come out after the other cards have been out at least a year, however Nvidia also didn't have a 4080ti so I assume they're just getting rid of it, to force people to buy 5090s.
nVidia making it clear once again that if you're looking to buy something below 5090 you should wait for the Super Ti WTF edition which will come out a few months later. And since it's nVidia no matter what you buy, prices will not reflect how rigorously they've been cut down. Not really impressed with the power draw either. I'm done sitting next to an abundant heat source in the summer.
Paul, is this some kind of creator side setting that you have activated? I usually have CC off on all videos. But every time I open one of yours the captions are turned back on.
The 70 series cards used to be extremely capable and able to push almost anything. Think of the GTX 970 and how solid that card was for the price. This generation's 70 series cards are basically offering the performance of what you'd expect from a 60 series. The 5070ti looks on paper much more capable, but unless Nvidia gets the pricing right (which it won't) - it won't be a good value proposition.
I never thought I'd have to say this but I don't see the sponsor link in your description 😂 I don't even get any results for Lexar even when I search the entire page (including comments)
A reminder that the 5070 is rumored to be at the performance level of a 4070 Ti Super - which has 16GB of VRAM and will likely age better, if not for the almost-fact that Nvidia will probably release some 50-series exclusive DLSS or something to make it look good.
8:00 I'm contemplating a new build and want to go back to having a 3.5" or 5.25" bay in the case. It would be nice to have a multi-media card reader integrated into the PC. Of which I've only seen one single model that supports UHS-II SD cards. Not a single one has CF Express slots. Sadly it does seem like devices in that format are not very popular these days.
Honestly, it looks to be pretty underwhelming. I guess it all comes down to pricing. And we know that will be bad. Another generation to skip most likely. So, AMD, Intel....????
Last black Friday I retired my GTX 1080ti for a 7900XT. I'm impressed and loving AMD software. No driver issues from new games to old, modding, and emulation. I won't give Nvidia a dime anymore.
Intel is dead, they basically gutted their future GPU lineup, and AMD said no more high end cards. I recommend just not buying new games and stick to playing old games you haven't tried/bought yet.
I'm happy with my PC and all, but if I could go back and change 1 thing it would be a 4070 TI Super instead of my current 4070 TI. I feel like the 12GB in my card will be an issue rather soon.

Nah man the 7900xt is unusable right now, let alone 5 years from now. FSR is horrible. And upscaling is required for unreal engine 5 games, which will be 90% of games comming out
@Dempig you must be high, fsr isn't dlss but it isn't bad nor locked behind newer series graphics cards. I don't upscale any game with this card it isn't needed. It is a pure raster monster and can handle light ray tracing if needed, but reshade mods do just as well with less impact on performance. Plus 20 gigs of VRAM, this will last longer than the 3080 and 4070 series of cards. That's a developer issue using UE5 and never optimizing for PC. Easy example is ultra settings in Re4 remake with Ray tracing and upscalers the game will push past 12 gigs of VRAM with the REngine, chocking out anything less than 12 gigs. If I'm spending $500 plus I need more than 16 gigs. 5 years easily already down 1 only 4 more to go.
honestly if I had room for that silverstone case I would get it. But i don't have a traditional setup with my case sitting beside my dresser and using my 55inch TV on my dresser as a monitor.
4:25 who the heck is paying MORE for a 4000 card with 5000 right around the corner? You’d think the 4000 cards would be cheaper now due to people waiting.
So long as Nvidia 50 series release results in price drops for all cards in the previous gens, I'm all for them going ahead. Gonna try and sweep up an upper end 6000 or 7000 AMD series card in the used market when that time comes.

I gave up on Nvidia and bought a 7900xtx. I will forever miss the 1080 Ti days when it was all about absolute pure Raster performance rather than useless raytracing and fake AI resolutions.
It's not fake 😂
Look at the facts, and don't talk. Why are extra frames fake? I mean it works...
Raytracing and dlss is awsome
Worst part is unoptimized games starting to rely on Frame generation as a "requirement" for achieving playable fps.
RT is playing the game of on off on, just to see if it's doing anything. Accurate shadows is all that is really needed.
Did the same at the start of this year, knowing that AMD wouldn't bring a flagship card out with its next generation and NVIDIA was going to screw people on price and VRAM. I hope that by the time I need a new GPU, Intel's GPUs will have matured enough to bring some strong competition to AMD and NVIDIA. That 24gb and its rasterization performance should last awhile.
That might be idle hope though, seeing how the GPU market has been for the last couple of years.

I'm just here to call out John Linneman's former desk at 8:20.
I wish they made more vintage themed cases. It's becoming harder to find cases with 5.25 in drive bays, and they're pretty useful for lots of different things.
I won't be touching the new GPUs until they launch the 18GB 5070.
Hey Paul, I just wanted to say it’s amazing to see you still going strong on RUclips after all these years. This news format is fantastic-straight to the point without all the extra fluff others tend to add. I love your fun, sharp, and positive vibe, plus the clever little puns! I was going to get a different case, but I'm finally getting a horizontal and will be waiting for that case to drop. A modern update to one of the old horizontal cases is something I'd very much enjoy.

@@gelul12 tbh there was, but ppl never appreciate AMD for whatever reason, rocking 6900XT since release (4 years), reliable card and drivers that still kicks any modern game till now
@@gelul12 But it is not the high end that makes up most of the marked. Also, there is not in the high end the problems are. Its in the mid-range and entry level.
@ 2.5k gpus arnt an issue ?
The problem is across the board.
@@gelul12 Clearly you haven't looked at the specs of the 7900 XTX. If that's not high end, nothing is.
How much performance will be left on the table using these in pcie4.0? Will this need an mb upgrade or will it be negligible?
I still have and use my Steam controller, infact I picked up 4 extras when Amazon sold off the last of the stock at $5 each, I had expected that to be a lifetime supply given the steamdeck was a long ways off. I will say, recently there's been a lot more profiles set up for old and new games for the Steam controller, it's already much easier to use and works perfectly with the Steamdeck as well. Looking forward to the second one!
No competition that's why.
I expect Prices to be better. They need to be. (Wishful thinking)
@@flimermithrandir My next PC will be a mini PC with components of pricing skyrocketing
AMD isn’t struggling😂
intel is not going to axe - at worst, they will just go iGPU only once those can satisfy low-end AND mid-tier shoppers in two mobile gens or thereabouts. their most recent mobile part shows that idea to not to be far-fetched, and AMD is not to far behind them (if you also consider batter life and non gaming). I think we will get AT LEAST one more since Celestial is already in the works right now, and the GPU's that launch this December will likely sell enough even if they are driver wise ok (anything is better than alchemist launch lol)

Unbelievably cut down. Keep you stuff Nvidia.
The casual mom joke killed me lmao
Don't know why one would believe the specs are unbelievable when we already know the price will be sky high. They have to produce something at what has become these insane price points for mid tier.
The power usage here is crazy.
Low Vram? Seems believable for nvidia
The cards are unbelievable in spec, but the prices will be unimaginable!
The Specs may be unbelievable, but that nothing compared to the price.

3060 has 12gb and now years later the 5070 will have 12gb!! Progress or lack of competition?
So what? Did the 3060 a low/mid tier card ever reqch its 12gb limit with playable conditions? No it didnt.
It was a 1080p card and it would have been fine with 10gb
People buy Nvidia so Nvidia does not need to improve!
Nvidia market share did go up from 86% to 88% with 4000 series! So people are more than happy with Nvidia products!
Great logic, I bet you'd buy the 6070 12gb in 2 years time!
@@thesongoflunch Lmao the justification for mediocrity at a high price point is wild.
I’m bought a 4080 super, I’m not dealing with the hassle of trying to get one of these minimal increased cards.
I'm sitting on a 1080Ti and have a feeling I might be able to squeeze another generation out of it after all.
I literally did the same thing. Saw the specs/pricing for the 50 series and bit the bullet. Sure, I paid a 100$ less than MSRP, TWO YEARS LATER (Indiana Jones included), but frame gen has been a nice feature.

🤔Discuss.
Probably they want to stop consumers or corporates buying GPUs for AI tasks that need a ton of vram
... so that they have to buy the server parts, priced in a way that a 4090 seems peanuts money.
Nvidia's main income source is selling/renting AI server hardware, they don't want you doing AI tasks at home without paying a subscription.
Nvidia will price this in to orbit, and scalpers will send it to another planet.
wtf happened to the 80ti? was that just dropped? so they could upcharge the base 80 card?
That's stage 2 of the gouge when the "refresher" takes place with the Supers.
5090 with a 600 watt TGP...I know how i'm heating my family room next winter.
We need more themed motherboards! I got myself a Sonic Z790 board recently and I love the way it looks!
Paul, is this some kind of creator side setting that you have activated?
I usually have CC off on all videos. But every time I open one of yours the captions are turned back on.
Still stingy with the VRAM. I would love a 64GB consumer Nvidia card for ML/"AI".
Microcenter should still have them even if they show out of stock. I went in and they had a bunch!

A reminder that the 5070 is rumored to be at the performance level of a 4070 Ti Super - which has 16GB of VRAM and will likely age better, if not for the almost-fact that Nvidia will probably release some 50-series exclusive DLSS or something to make it look good.
the 4070 ti has 12gb vram
@Dempig oh sorry, I meant 4070 Ti Super.
I recommend just not buying new games and stick to playing old games you haven't tried/bought yet.
your mom mic drop was perfect LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Been thinking about getting a 7900XTX. Has 24GB of VRAM and holds up pretty well against the 4080.
I'm happy with my PC and all, but if I could go back and change 1 thing it would be a 4070 TI Super instead of my current 4070 TI. I feel like the 12GB in my card will be an issue rather soon.

My XFX 7900XT Black for $650 plus $80 off with Amazon rewards and a terrible ubislop Avatar game last black Friday was a steal and will last an easy 5 years for 1440/4k.
5 years easily already down 1 only 4 more to go.
thanks Paul! always look forward to tech news!
I appreciate the return of the mom jokes.
Yo dawg, I heard you like obsolete stuff, so we put a optic drive inside a floppy drive inside a 80s case.
Little difference in 5070-Ti and 5080, except of course for the price - probably 600 euro's higher for 20fps more :'o)
I was lucky enough to catch 9800X3D in stock from my local shop and buy it for the cheapest official price
honestly if I had room for that silverstone case I would get it. But i don't have a traditional setup with my case sitting beside my dresser and using my 55inch TV on my dresser as a monitor.
5070 w 12GB, 5080 w 16GB and NVIDIA will sell them off easily. Remember is the consumers who let NVIDIA do this, wanna be angry? grab a mirror

The 3060ti was 400 bucks in 2020. Let's hope performance per price rises this time.
4:25 who the heck is paying MORE for a 4000 card with 5000 right around the corner? You’d think the 4000 cards would be cheaper now due to people waiting.
Funny how the click on the like button automatically happed after "you mom of course".
Stagnant vram and rising prices? From nvidia? That's as believable as it gets, not seeing that would be unbelievable.
So long as Nvidia 50 series release results in price drops for all cards in the previous gens, I'm all for them going ahead.
Gonna try and sweep up an upper end 6000 or 7000 AMD series card in the used market when that time comes.
