Definitely a necessary video, and very informative. Thank you sir! It makes it easy to have a mind for a good kit as a photographer who is back and forth with picture and video clients. Having multiple cameras is a thing, but knowing which ones to have is a must. This gave me some clarity. I appreciate you.
I use an AWHOLE 1 ca,era too. Sony makes electronics canon makes lenses and cameras. One word canon 5d everyone knows about it and can be used today up to iso 3200 and looks great .
out of all the videos I watched your video was VERY helpful and really allowed me to think. I was considering ZV-E10 for my budget but after watching this video I may wait and upgrade ...
This was a perfect description of the possibilities. Thank you!!! All my cameras are really old. I still get good images, but I want something to grow with. I'm just starting to take payed gigs and I want to better insure good quality for my clients. I also want to learn more about making videos so I need something for that. Of course, within my budget. This is the first RUclips video that made my choices clear. I'm now saving up for the A7 iv. I can also see the FX30 in my near future. Been a fan of your channel and your Ig for a while now. Absolutely love your images! Thanks, for all your hard work.
I Chase Police scanner calls in Bakersfield CA. But I run at night, I don't need it to record I just need a good clear picture in low light areas to Live stream, all my scenes are at night with not very much lights. I only Run 720p it don't need to be 4k either.
I currently have the a7iii and I didn't think I'd end up buying another camera but I saw a deal for the lumix s5 with 3 lenses for about $1800. I was tempted by the FX30 but considering the lenses which came with S5 which I needed anyway, and it's full frame and I don't need to buy CFexpress cards, it makes sense.
I have been shooting photos for about 6 or 7 months and I have a Canon 90D and I've been thinking about upgrading to a Canon R6. I thought about switching to Sony but I'm not sure about their menu selection/layout.
Thanks for the overview. Obviously SONY oriented but interesting how they have carved up the market and satisfy every niche. Very informative. I don't even want to throw GH6 and XHS into the mix or I'll never be able to make up my mind :)
Sony would do well releasing a refresh of the A7III with the latest menu and newer AF tracking , possibly a better EVF and screen for 2k to 2.2k dollars/euros. The rest would remain the same so as not to cannibalize the A7IV with higher MP count, better video specs and flippy screen. I feel like there is something missing in that price range, which shows in your video as you are suggesting to go for a used A7III rather than a brand new one for 2k. It's now kind of expensive for a 4 year old camera with aging specs (even if the image quality is still great).
Before Covid and the talks of an A7C the A7III was actually around the $1,500 price range. Due to the chip shortage that push prices up in both markets. I would be here for a refresh, but in return where would that leave the original spec A7iii's in price point?
A7IV if it gets an APS-C 120fps 4K (I don't have issue with crop in 60p 4K)...we will be done with its capabilities. Best Hybrid camera in my opinion. But with no updates for A1 regarding Breathing comp and other things I doubt that update will come for A7IV. Best suggestion, Buy after setting your priorities if you are under a budget. FX 30 is The best for anybody who wants video. It blows away all competition for that price. Nice time for 6600, 6400 guys who have found video option more suitable to make the next move.
The readout speed is not fast enough to get APS-C 120fps 4k unless line skipping is used, and line skipping is ugly ... It has nothing to do with firmware updates, it's just a limitation of the sensor.
Hi Manny, What happens is that many Sony haters do not know how to work in neutral or portrait mode photography and filming they do not know how to colorize the slog 3 or cinetone and give the excuse that Sony is not good for filming and photography, but they are wrong because the best photographers and filmmakers use sony cameras for a good reason. I have an Fx3 and it is one of the best cameras I have had in my career and I sold my A7III a few days ago to buy the FX30 like secondary camera to shoot photos and video, I have worked with BMPC, Canon and Lumix and Sony is really something else and the auto focus they are the best. Now with the FX30 with Super 35mm with 6k Crop Sensor that leads to forcing other camera manufacturers to create a camera that outperforms this new one at a competitive price, so in other words they killed it. Great video comparison Manny. Cheers
I hve both a7riii &a7iv i have no problems dor both for video and photography i stick to my gear for now mybe in the future ill buy fx30 for videos vut for now im stick to my gear with 24/105f4 & 70 200f4
While tempting to get an A7iv, I've been shooting with an R series camera and can't go back to anything less than 42mp so for me I would get the A7riv. I dont shoot video, but I'm a crop- a-holic plus shooting in apsc mode still gets you 26mp so I feel like it's two cameras in one.
@@mr.j5526 thanks for the feedback! I'm thinking of buying the multiple accessories (batteries, bigger SD cards and a new hard drive) before buying the camera so I will be ready.
@@guystokes454 no prob when I got my rii new it came with two batteries but it's still not enough if you're shooting all day. Also if you can, purchase the Sony brand batteries instead of 3rd party because I've heard negative things about 3rd party batteries. While it may not happen to you just have the sony brand for me personally gave me a peace of mind.
I'm super late to comment on this video, but thanks for doing this. Been back and forth about what to get. I have been eyeing both the 6400 and the A7iii, but since I'm mostly a photographer I have seen the A7Rii in the $900+ range for one in excellent condition. Sony could use letters for their APSC line to clear it up for beginner shooters, ie: A6400ii, A6600Rii. The A7C EVF isn't as bad IF you're coming from the APSC side as in that's where it already is.
A7III, I went from a Canon 5D Mark III and the Sony blew me away. That was 6 years ago or so. My Sony A7III is still a relevant camera to this day. It’s a still a beast and the auto focus is amazing. Once you go full frame it’s hard to go back.
PLEASE PLEASE I have a request. Can you please provide a download link to some fx30 and a7iv log sample footage so that we can try to push the images at home. It will help is a lot to make an informed decision. Please
I actually think that even inspite of the infamous CDAF the Panasonic S5 is the best bang for buck full frame camera you can get on the market or even a used Pansonic S1. Great picture quality, tons of video options, XLR expandablity, LUTS, waveforms, VLOG, anamorphic support. All for under £2k. In fact you could get either used between £1000-1200k.
@@joseperez-cl8jk I have an S5 and an A7c, and both are better at different things. If you want to go "budget anamorphic", there is no reason EVER to go anything except Panasonic full frames. Sony has no built in desqueeze. No built in anamorphic stabilization. None of that. Autofocus also doesn't exist unless you rig up a DJI Lidar thing (on any camera). It definitely depends what you need the camera for. There's a reason I still keep my S primes and the S5 but I also use the A7c with its tiny kit lens all the same.
@@thatsreallyamoon What do you recommend if I want to record 4K 120fps videos (in HDR if possible) when I go out with my girlfriend??? Price doesn't matter to me. What's the "best" out there?
I have the Sony A6400 and A7IV, combine that with the FX30 it makes sense that they all can share lenses especially with the crop factor. Sony is definitely talking to me with the FX30, I’ve always wanted the FX3 but it was out of budget. Thank you Sony ! 🙏🏽
I have an a7iii and an a6600, plus a variety of lenses for both. I also have a ZV1 for everyday shooting. I will hold out for the a7v since my current setup handles everything I do.
I have got an A7III an an A6000- both are good for photos...I just think I made a mistake that I took the A7III in 2022 and not the A7IV for a little bit more money!
@@svenstreet the A7III still holds it own, invest your money in good glass and you'll be fine. I bought my A7III about 2yrs ago and thought about purchasing the IV as well but I couldn't justify it at the time.
On the a6400, just add a SmallRig cold shoe on the left side of the camera to hold the mic; problem solved. You should add the camera model to the specs lists you display. Would be helpful!
What revisions did you have in mind? •I also want that A7iv sensor. •I expect the active stabilization & bird AF to be included this time around. •Lastly, I want 2 SD card slots (most unlikely if they want to keep it clearly casual instead of for pro use, but possible if they keep it non-CFexpress) I'm not quite sure if I really want a better viewfinder & a bigger grip. That would be nice to have, but if they want to keep it as is to separate it from the A7iv in both price & "pro" ergonomics then they can keep those as is. Just the 1st two would be enough to get me onboard quite honestly & the 3rd one would be a dream cone through since I love the viewfinder form factor but there aren't any with dual card slots.
Sony needs to release an A9 III and get the price to $4000 to compete with Cannon. Slight MP bump would be nice but improved low light performance and faster shutter speed would also be great. The AI AF features from A7RV would be a killer addition to that camera.
Where would you put the A7R V? It's a little more pricey, but would you consider it a better hybrid than the A7IV, giving you can down the megapixels, if you don't wanna shoot at 61?
Buying an A7IV is the only big purchase I have ever made without buyers remorse.. the only reason why I got buyers remorse with my 24-70gm was because the gm ii came out 2 weeks later. And the price of the GM dropped like $500 🙃
keep yourself up to date on sony rumours. most of the time they are very accurate. i've known for weeks now that sony's next release will be a7rv. gm ii was also rumoured prior to release.
the gyro stabilization alone on A7C is enough not to consider the other cheaper models for video. it gives you the stabilization you see on an iPhone in post production.
I'm either getting an R6 or A7IV. I tried out the A7IV and was impressed at how Sony has improved the body quality since the A7II. It now feels almost as good as a Canon. The biggest drawbacks though are the cropped 4K60 and that terrible crippled LCD screen. Coming from Canon the Sony LCDs are low res and unresponsive. The 33 MP is a sweet spot, though upscaled the R6 files are often just as detailed (weaker AA filter?). The third party lens options for Sony are really nice though. Such a tough call.
@@hkp9257 Also test drove an A7iv for an extended weekend before making the switch from Canon. Fell in love with the body, it feels veerry similar to my old 70D. Zero regrets though. I’m a photographer first, but have been doing more and more video every year. Definitely agree about the rolling shutter but as long as you’re not doing some crazy tracking pans, should be ok. Can’t wait for the day that mirrorless cameras have a global shutter. Really though the biggest reason for my switch was no 3rd party glass support; huge deal breaker for me personally. I did the same almost exactly two years ago. I found it a major upgrade in terms of how much I enjoyed using it as much as image quality. I now take more photos and better ones. The 7Iii inspired me to really get to know all its features too. And to change to RAW files.

my dude, please add the model number of the camera you are discussing above the specs. I had to rewind like 3 times. Thanks 👍
I love photography 🥰 so that's why I always keept watching this Chanel video , having a camera like this is very awesome , specially going somewhere, but I can't afford it, but I do always watching like this video because it was so fun , and great and more explore. Than we thought, and i wish I could have one like that soon 🥰
I use the A9 with 2470 Sigma Art Lens, Sony 85 f/1.8, Sony 90 f/2.8 Macro, 200-600. 35 f/1.4 Sigma Art Lens. I also use the LAEA3 adapter with A-Mount lenses: Sigma Art Lens 35 f/1.4, Sigma Art Lens 24-105 f/4 & Sony 70200G2 f/2.8 They feel and perform like native lenses with the A9.
Definitely a necessary video, and very informative. Thank you sir! It makes it easy to have a mind for a good kit as a photographer who is back and forth with picture and video clients. Having multiple cameras is a thing, but knowing which ones to have is a must. This gave me some clarity. I appreciate you.
Don't sleep on the A7sIII for photography, maybe not the absolute best but it isn't a slouch either and the view finder is A+++++++++++++
@Jerimiah CK × YUP! It's a really good hybrid camera, and for 2K you got a heck of a deal
love ths video! sony makes some top notch cameras
Hi, I’m from the UK and I’ve been looking for a camera. This video has came in handy, thank you!! ✌️☺️
I use an AWHOLE 1 ca,era too. Sony makes electronics canon makes lenses and cameras. One word canon 5d everyone knows about it and can be used today up to iso 3200 and looks great .
Still rocking the a6500. It’s killing it. Want the fx3 tho
out of all the videos I watched your video was VERY helpful and really allowed me to think.
Will you be getting the A7rV when it is announced this month?
I have been shooting photos for about 6 or 7 months and I have a Canon 90D and I've been thinking about upgrading to a Canon R6. I thought about switching to Sony but I'm not sure about their menu selection/layout.
Just bout a used A7RII for $500 bucks from a local pawn shop! and only had 2600 actuations. Love the image quality!
Being moderately new to cameras it's still so much information there's so much out there thank you so much for making this amazing video
I love my A7III and have owned it for years but I don’t like the color science of it.
I'm debating between FX30 and FX3 for my video purposes. I have an A7R3 w/ 24-70 2.8 GM & 70-200 2.8 GM for my photo purposes.
Cheers
I have a Leica and I just adjust for a sec and my pics are ready to go. Thats why Sony gets hate.
@Skip Brewer everyone has the choice and flavor for our favorite cameras. Leica is a great great camera and nobody can't say the otherwise.
@@JoeVazquezProductorMusical we all want the perfect camera right😂

While tempting to get an A7iv, I've been shooting with an R series camera and can't go back to anything less than 42mp so for me I would get the A7riv. I dont shoot video, but I'm a crop- a-holic plus shooting in apsc mode still gets you 26mp so I feel like it's two cameras in one.
i agree, anything below 42mp isn’t worth it
Which mark R are you shooting with? I'm thinking of getting a A7Rii.
@@guystokes454 rii make sure you purchase two more batteries if you do
@@mr.j5526 thanks for the feedback!
I’m returning my Canon R5 and will be waiting for the XH2 or A7Rv

The FX30 makes me doubt my a7c. I now would consider the FX30 because of the much more affordable lenses.

Can you get good lenses like Sigma Arts ?
Rent a Sony from B&H you will find that it will change your mind it’s a easy way to get your hands on experience before spending your money

I have the Sony A6400 and A7IV, combine that with the FX30 it makes sense that they all can share lenses especially with the crop factor. Sony is definitely talking to me with the FX30, I’ve always wanted the FX3 but it was out of budget. Thank you Sony ! 🙏🏽

Its more complex in the UK as the FX30 is £2100 and the A74 can be got for £2169. This is because the A74 is in stock with grey importers over here.
I picked up the A7Rii for like 1000.00 brand new. I know it's pretty old but its a great camera.
Sony a7c is incredibly solid. Looking for a new revision of it for sure
thank you so much for your take, I was so confused with the fx30 as well!
What is a best bare bones basic beginners Sony camera for a budget consumer without sacrificing too much quality? A smaller form factor would be nice.
Thanks for this
good night
This was really helpful! Thanks Manny!
I want Next A7C or Next A6*** have Compact but Bulky Body like FX30🥺
For real, the FX30 is an amazing value at under $2k. Love my A7iv but picking up fx30 for b roll, second camera and 120 fps
Just bought the R3 coming over from Nikon, man do I love it! 📸
What about the AF of R3? Is it a bit slow?
Honestly, a new A7C revision would be killer for me. No brainer day 1 purchase for me (if it's a smaller A74, with revisions).
What revisions did you have in mind?
•I also want that A7iv sensor.
•I expect the active stabilization & bird AF to be included this time around.
•Lastly, I want 2 SD card slots (most unlikely if they want to keep it clearly casual instead of for pro use, but possible if they keep it non-CFexpress)
I'm not quite sure if I really want a better viewfinder & a bigger grip.
@@twentyfifthjt7888 1/8000 shutter. Better viewfinder, front dial.
@@twentyfifthjt7888 yeah an A7C with dual slots, I would be sold on it!

I absolutely love my Sony A7R3 ❤️
Sony needs to release an A9 III and get the price to $4000 to compete with Cannon. Slight MP bump would be nice but improved low light performance and faster shutter speed would also be great. The AI AF features from A7RV would be a killer addition to that camera.
this aged well, a9III coming out early next year
Great video, thanks Manny! And your studio looks awesome.
You forgot, you’ll be drooling when the r6 ii comes out .” Switching back to canon “ I can shoot with what ever I want yeah right .
Where would you put the A7R V?
It's a little more pricey, but would you consider it a better hybrid than the A7IV, giving you can down the megapixels, if you don't wanna shoot at 61?
A74 is always a fantastic baby of Sony's lineup
Buying an A7IV is the only big purchase I have ever made without buyers remorse.. the only reason why I got buyers remorse with my 24-70gm was because the gm ii came out 2 weeks later. And the price of the GM dropped like $500 🙃
keep yourself up to date on sony rumours. most of the time they are very accurate. i've known for weeks now that sony's next release will be a7rv. gm ii was also rumoured prior to release.
Thanks brody, you think the a6600 and afx30 a good combination?
I'll keep saying this again.
Sony FS7 used > FX30.
You won't change my mind.
Please recommend 5 cameras for beginner under 500£$ preferably for low light photography.Never had a camera before.Your thoughts on Canon 250D
What about A7 RIII? It has 43 megapixels... 🤔 Would that be better than A7 III?
Hello Manny, what camera will you recommend for a beginner ?*who wants to learn photography.
It's either the A7R IV for hybrid or FX3 for video.
Great video! Will you do something similar with Nikon and Canon?
I end up going for the A7IV great video!!
33 MP the sweet spot! I wish they would put a 33MP Stacked Sensor in the A9 III for $4200.00, for wildlife.
Any thoughts on the new 70~200 f2.8? Is it a big step from the current f4?
the gyro stabilization alone on A7C is enough not to consider the other cheaper models for video. it gives you the stabilization you see on an iPhone in post production.
Great advice bro! The A1 is definitely my all time favorite mirrorless camera. It would have been perfect if it had a flip screen 😬👌
I know its not apples to apples but I would like to hear your opinion comparing the R7 and Fx30
In the end you will have to decide if you want to pay the expensive RF glas. A Tamron 35-150 or 70-180 are just a big plus for sony, in my opinion.
Salut est-ce que je peux avoir votre numéro je suis du Sénégal 🇸🇳
@@hkp9257 Also test drove an A7iv for an extended weekend before making the switch from Canon. Fell in love with the body, it feels veerry similar to my old 70D.
Zero regrets though. I’m a photographer first, but have been doing more and more video every year. Definitely agree about the rolling shutter but as long as you’re not doing some crazy tracking pans, should be ok. Can’t wait for the day that mirrorless cameras have a global shutter.
Really though the biggest reason for my switch was no 3rd party glass support; huge deal breaker for me personally. Canon lost a lifelong customer, and I don’t see myself switching back in the near future.

I just went from a6400 to a7iii so far so good
I did the same almost exactly two years ago. I found it a major upgrade in terms of how much I enjoyed using it as much as image quality. I now take more photos and better ones. The 7Iii inspired me to really get to know all its features too. And to change to RAW files.
Don't you miss the real time tracking of the a6400? I have both and it's so much easier to track subjects on 6400 rather than a7iii with that mediocre lockon AF

The Sony Alpha 6400 have unlimited recording plus the camera don't cut off or over heat
I will disagree on some points. A7RIV might have too many pixels for you, but still is way better than A7IV for photos, just a7III and IV are budget cameras and have too many compromises than respective R cameras, shooting is not only flipout screen, you have sensor readout, dynamic range and bunch of other things.
