SOCIAL SACRIFICE at Venice Biennale 2022 | DRIFT & Drone Stories

In April 2022 we flew a special art performance ‘Social Sacrrifice’ by DRIFT
It was the first-ever indoor aerial drone performance (2022), mimicking the swarm behavior of a school of fish, during the opening of this year’s Venice Biennale. The performance took place in the Church of San Lorenzo at tba21academy ’s Ocean Space.
A mesmerizing drone choreography that offers a poetic meditation on collective action and individual freedom, as well as how these change in the presence of external threats. The drones dance and battle one another. Each drone has its own light source, with the “predator drones” represented in red and the school of fish represented in white.
