- Sky Elements Drones, a North Texas drone show company flew a holiday-themed show using 1,001 drones, making it the largest drone show ever seen in Texas. The previous record is a show utilizing 1,000 drones by Intel in 2020. The show was flown on Sunday, December 18th 2022 in North Richland Hills.

Spectacular. I'm a retired professional fireworks operator. I used to believe nothing else could match the sensory experience of fireworks. I've now seen water fountains come pretty close, in Dubai and drones are definitely going beyond.
Absolutely.
Some of the great shows that I have seen are where they have had fireworks and drone's together. I think we are in the beginnings of greater things to come.
How about a Drone platform to launch Fireworks from a higher altitude?
I honestly don’t think so, it’s all a bit slow and no sound. Can’t beat the spectacle of fireworks, it’s the bangs and lights that make it. While impressive, drones are a long way off the excitement of fireworks.
I'm retired lighting guy and had the honor of doing shows with fireworks (NYC 4th of July in 80's - early 90's) and like you, I didn't think what we were doing then could be beat. Then along comes the drones. Makes me realize I retire way too early. OUTSTANDING JOB SKYELEMENTS!!!!!!!!!
@@Yosser70 You haven't yet seen the proper shows then. Drones can be as fast and dynamic as fireworks. The only thing you can't have with drones are the bangs (but I reckon that's an extremely good thing for each and every animal in the city!!!)
The show showcased in this video was one of the most boring drone shows I have ever seen. Who cares if there were 1001 drones... It was dead boring, slow paced, hardly any movement (if at all); they were all static images. Sorry Sky Elements.... (eventhough I know the learning curve is very steep for stuff like this)

This is amazing; I am the owner of a rescue dog, who must have had some bad experiences in her previous life, meaning that fireworks really scare her. She is a large dog but if there are fireworks going off she lies on me shaking, with each bang in the sky met with uncontrollable quivers right through her body. I fear she would try to run away if we didn’t sit with her as there is absolute panic in her eyes. I wish those people letting off the fireworks could see this panic, as it might make them reconsider. I admit that I have let off fireworks before in my life, but I had not witnessed the fear they can produce in animals. A previous dog was a gun dog, and he would just get excited as he thought he would be retrieving some pheasants or partridges. But I hope that these stunning shows will replace fireworks, certainly in built up areas. I have been to firework displays too in the past, and at least there dog owners could choose to take their dogs out of the area for the time of the fireworks, although personally I would prefer it if even those shows were held well away from built up areas. My dog had been a stray dog at one period in her life before she was rescued, and I can only imagine that on nights like 31 December, she would have just run in complete panic, and an 80kg dog has the potential to cause a nasty car crash should she run across roads.
From the Wright Bros... to Space shuttles to the Moon... to the outrageous precision of proximity flying... It's truly astonishing.

This is even better than fireworks! I did not realize drones could put on a 3D light show (and another drone flies through it: cool!). Salute to the geniuses who came up with this idea and executed it.
Super impressed how you all have made this work. Your handling of the logistics that go into such a show are top notch.
From assembling, fixing, placing, coding, tagging, storing, moving, setting up and charging the drone fleet, to working out the patterns, the show, the narratives, to your decent sized staff. The various permitting requirements, local challenges, the weather, the place to launch from, the other local businesses involved. And then to make it work inside a business model on top of that.
Impressive! Fantastic! Challenging! Awesome!

Just watching the drones is pretty amazing but then when you think what is required to do this, it becomes mind blowing.
If you have to think of the technical work that went into it to find it amazing, then the show missed the mark.

The Seattle fireworks show was done using drones this New Years Eve. So amazing to see new technology. I love that I’ve lived to see the development of computers from the clunky beginning to now coordinating the flights of drones for an air show. I hope I live for another 30 years, who knows what might be developed.
i am reminded of the first computer games of the 80's with very basic graphics that seemed so realistic at the time. Imagine how much that has changed in the following decades and no doubt the years to come will bring about displays by drones that will blow our minds with unimaginable creativity.

Drones must be the number one best invention of the last few decades, they have so many applications for exploration and study of places impossible to see otherwise.

I haven't been this impressed with light shows since I saw the Genesis, "Seconds Out" tour and their lasers back in 1977.
To the fireworks folks (of which I'm one) who say this doesn't compare; well it doesn't compare to watching horse racing either but it's not competing with that, and it's obviously not in the big bang competition at all. It's different. I love fireworks as much as the next pyromaniac, but for a different reason.
It's equally stunning that we've come this far technologically.

That has DEFINITELY got to be the best drone light show I've ever seen. Other drone light shows have all been done with 'static' images, sometimes with occasional...but, very minimal...'moving' images. This show was done almost entirely with 'moving' images. I'd go so far as to call this "drone light animation". 👍🏼👍🏼 🤙🏼

this reminds me of the beginning of laser shows at music festivals in the late 90's, quite a basic graphical presentation from a viewers POV, but there is a real appreciation for the technology and its future.

I think a small fireworks show combined with a huge drone show would be the perfect combination for a fantastic celebration of New Years or the 4th of July. Saw my 1st drone show at the Garth Brooks concert in Missouri this year and it was absolutely AMAZ-Z-Zing!!

Fascinating beyond belief! Reminds me of the huge bird flocks over the fields in the fall. I imagine collision avoidance is most difficult.

Pretty impressive. I love that there's no automated arming sequence, haha, but it must take a LOT of setup for each unique event but its very impressive and would be really spectacular to see in person.
I find the storyline where kids just go trespassing, then breaking and entering, then stealing someone's property a little strange, but the lightshow is really well coordinated.
Amazing technology, great work. Actually did the entire thing without mentioning what Christmas was about. Amazing.

While it is pretty cool, this is scary as hell. This will and is becoming an extremely effective weapon system and to think you can control thousands of these with software at the individual drone level and the totality should alarm everyone.

Would love to read a short, not too technical story about how the drone programming was done. Also, the brand, make, and model of the drones, and the cost for each drone. Should have been a million more cars parked/people watching, too.
4:34 The FPV angle is amazing.
Honestly, the tripods should be replaced by some sort of moving orbiting FPV that is wide-shot or an Insta-360 mounted in the drones so we can all use RUclips's 360 feature using our phone accelerometers.

I imagine there must be some custom software that emulates the show and lets you keyframe drones one-by-one or in groups like video editing software. SO COOL!
