  • Juwel Rio 450 LED: New aquascape for my geophagus tank. I did add new roots and most importantly new sand substrate as i'm going for a more biotope fish tank. What do you guys think about the new setup? I really do like it so far and my fish seem to like it too.

    Hi @freshwatertank , congrrats for your beautiful aquariums and videos, rally lovely. As I just purchased a rio 450 may i Ask you couple of things:
    - in some old videos with discus you kept bioflow internal filter: was it good enough? I assume so since the discus reproduced
    - how did you manage to let the internal filter work so good? What was the internal media set up?
    - why at a certain stage you got rid of the bioflow switching for external filter?
    - why 2 and not only 1 external filter?
    -would you reccomend Eheim?
    -finally: the background at the time of discus was black or kind of a blueish?
    I apologize for ao Many questions but I simply love your aquarium style!
    Cheers

    • @freshwatertanks
      @freshwatertanks  4 года назад +1

      hi there. thanks a lot! the internal filter is perfectly fine. it's just takes space away. i used a mix of sera siporax and the filter medium which came with the filter. if you want to keep discus just be prepared for lot's of water changes if you are only going to use the internal filter and feed beefheart. i changed the filter as i wanted to get oscar fish which are pretty messy. but one filter would be enough too. and yes eheim filter are awesome! and the background was always black. i had wrong camera settings when i started filming, that's why it looks blueish. have fun with your new tank. it's a great one. will get another 450 soon and replace my lido 200's.

    Interessant, zuzusehen, wie Du/ihr es routiniert und planvoll macht, und zweifellos ein beeindruckendes Becken mit diesen markanten Hölzern drin und den schönen Barschen.(?)
    Was ich mich (und euch) aber auch immer wieder frage, ist , welchen Einfluß ich selber und wir als Aquarianer/Konsumenten mit unserem Hobby und damit Kauf von Wurzeln (Mangroven) und evtl. Wildfängen von Tieren, etc. auf die wenigen verbliebenen und leider schrumpfenden Wildgebiete vielleicht ungewollt und unwissenderweise haben. Ich habe z.B. schon abgeholzte Mangrovengürtel gesehen, die die Küsten und die Tierwelt dort ungeschützt zurücklassen.

      Hallo. Danke für deine Nachricht. Ja das sind berechtigte Fragen, welche ich mir auch schon gestellt habe. Ich kann das Ganze so mit mir vereinen, dass ich z.B. Wurzeln so gut es geht nur gebraucht kaufe und nur Nachzuchten halte. Aber ob es das besser macht weiss ich nicht. Auch bezüglich Nachhaltigkeit dieses Hobbies habe ich mir Gedanken gemacht. z.B. Strom- und Wasserverbrauch usw. Also kein einfaches Thema. Aber danke für die erneute Anregung.

      hi there. sorry i do not speak italian (but i used google translate). i don't know the oase highline tanks. i've nerver seen them in real. i can only tell you that i'm happy with all my juwel tanks and that i can recommend them. tanks are great for the price. so you won't do anything wrong by buying a juwel tank in my opinion...

    I'm not keen on this. It's very architectural, with the large wood pieces, but could be so much more! I'd want to change this after a short while as it would become boring to look at. More logs and rocks could add far more interest to this large tank. It could be done without completely restarting...like a work in progress. I get you are going for simplicity, but this misses achieving that goal and remain interesting.
