You knocked this one out of the park....LOL. Howards' Restor-a-finish is remarkable but the wax finish is the true secret. It gives it the real finish that makes it shine. I have used the dark walnut on several pieces. It even impressed my hubby and he now uses it on his wooden work desk.
Emily, no ifs, ands or bunts, you knocked this one out of the park! You really threw us a curve ball by using bats for legs (genius, btw). Using Howard’s Restore-O-Finish was a game changer for a gorgeous end result and an overall hit on most of the scratches. Seriously Emily, this is a stunning piece and you made the right call by restoring the beautiful original finish. Love it!😍💜⚾️
I love the finished look. The credenza just screams 70s and you really threw us a curve with the legs! Wonderful rejuvenation from you and a really terrible pun from me!🌸
Beautiful piece. It takes me back to my 70s childhood. Love that the woven door panels are still intact! You brought this piece back to life, it makes my heart glad to see 😊
I would have have never considered using bats as legs. I'm glad that you did, because I used to attend baseball games with my Grandpa and his best friend Uncle Lou, probably during and more than a bit after, this pieces' heyday. We got to point where I was picking them up and going with. The furniture was like this at Uncle Lou's. Thank you for restoring, instead of restoration! ❤❤❤
I had no idea you could use Restor-a-finish over material like the webbing on the front of the doors. Cool! Always learn something new when I watch your videos, Emily. The bats were a genius idea for legs. Love how this turned out, total home run!
I love the look of this finished piece. It is quite visually appealing. I don't like that the mounting block for the legs are so visible and for some reason, I thought that you would 'splay' the legs. Using the baseball bats for legs was a stroke of genius. Thanks for sharing this video.
I thought you were a bit batty there in the on deck circle, but then you stepped up to the plate. There was no 1-2-3 strikes your out for you. You just swung and hit that right out of the park. Great job!
You batted a thousand on this one Emily. I've used Restore A Finish for years and Feed & Wax is my go to furniture polish, it also smells great. Especially good for insides on old cabinet drawers that smell musty.
You might need to change your name from Emily to MLB (OK, that sounded better in my head than it looks typed out. But if you say it out loud, it kind of works). I can almost see you giving a postgame interview, like, "Well, they really threw us a slider with that bottom-half credenza, top-half hutch. But we dug it out, put the ball in play, and moved the runners. Obviously Restor-a-Finish and Feed-n-Wax delivered big for us today, but it was a team effort. We really got creative out there, which you saw with the bats. All in all, the important thing is to come away with the 'W'." You took a lot of risks and tried a lot of new techniques with this piece, it looked like. Kudos to you!
ok..since everyone seems to be baseball theme comments,,,where the helmut did u get this idea from?i bat u are a creative bench hitter!!i know,,,,,corny but what a beautiful job emily !!!
A very beautiful outcome. If I may just add my two cents worth. When cutting a bolt or stud, run a nut onto it so that removing it after cutting it will clean the threads up again.
Yo Yo Yo Emily, Harbor Freight has a very inexpensive pass through ratchet wrench set. Just a heads up since it looks like you'll be making more legs out of the bat blanks. You slip the nuts onto the threaded inserts & because they're pass through you can tighten down an infinitely long insert. Great job as always Homie, Dirty Jersey out!! Not sure if it was intentional but, I like your handle placement better!!!
1153 u could have used some wood putty in gap but overall emily ur a fantastic video maker and crafter!!!my new thrift store finds will attempt a turn at bat
As someone who has designed things, I think you did an incredible job on the finish, the legs would have looked better as 4-sided square tapering columns, with metal around the bottom. The placement was too far in, it should have been closer to the edge of the piece.
@@ReconstructingEmily I'm glad you weren't offended. Your work is beautiful and the wood in the bats is great hardwood. It was a brilliant idea to use them, my Dad used to do wood projects, we have an old shopsmith, lathe, routers and other tools still in the basement. Dad is gone now, for over 15 years. But the things he made live on.
@@shainazion4073 I bet there are so many awesome things your dad built with those tools ❤️. I can't say I won't make questionable decisions 😉 but I always enjoy when someone shares a cool idea!
Well Emily, this project turned out batter than I thought it would.
haaaa love it 😀 thank you Joseph!
Snort!
🥰
You did a great restorative job with the credenza and no milk paint was destroyed in the process. Nothing like the look of wood.
You hit it out of the park with half a bat. Anyway, I appreciate this video because you rejuvenated the piece without rebuilding or painting it.
Thank you Carole ❤️ 😊

Absolutely true about the wax. The restorafinish does well with the scratches, but the wax is great!! Thank you ToddyLu!
No bat pun here!! I am so glad you rejuvenated this piece, and I love the legs. I also love Howard's products.
Thank you Eileen!
I’d say you’re batting a thousand in restoring this beautiful credenza! How’s that for honoring your bat legs! Love the job you did!
Thank you Lynda ❤️ 😊
Holy peanuts and crackerjacks, Bat-man! It’s lovely and creative. Nice work.
You knocked it out of the ball park with this one! 🥰😍😘

Holy hardwood, Batman! What a clever upcycle. I'm glad you kept the original finish. Really pretty!

Thank you Doug!
Bats amazing!
Nice Paula! 😀
You know, I really wish I had paid more attention in geometry class. You are ingenious and resourceful. Awesome job 👌👍
I felt like I was dusting of the archives for a minute lol 😆
I think it's known as "Parallel Thinking"; you saw not baseball bats, but furniture legs! Good for you!
I love the look of this finished piece. It is quite visually appealing.
I don't like that the mounting block for the legs are so visible and for some reason, I thought that you would 'splay' the legs.

Attempting a splayed style is on the list 🙂 Thank you PT Eddie!

Nice to see how to refresh a finish...many of my antiques need a boost. How cool to use baseball bats for lets. They are so strong...good choice.

I use Howard's a lot. While it can't work miracles, it can work wonders. This was a nice piece!

Sooo true for the inside if cabinets! There was a very slight smell to this piece and it is totally gone. Thank you JP!!

Mariano Rivera’s last season, one of the farewell gifts was chair made of broken baseball bats to symbolize the bats that were broken by his cutter⚾️
😮 The chair of broken dreams!? This is so cool! Thank you Rosemary!
Beautiful job, it’d be hard for me to part with 😖
I am sooo glad you did not paint this piece and let the wood shine - well done!
Thank you Jean!
You threw us a curveball with those legs! I’m sure this sold ages ago or I’d be tempted to drive to Florida for it.
Indeed this one did sell to a couple new to the area. 😊
Emily this could have been 🦇hit or miss. But you made it beautiful
Thank you ❤️ 😊
My question is…why do you have a full box of baseball bats??😂 and you just answered my question 😂
lol! I already have idea #2 for these as well! it gets a bit.more complicated though...

Confession: when I saw your dog I waved :)
I am sure if he saw you do it he would be very excited 😊 He loves people.
