In this video I restore an old mahogany library bookcase gifted to me by my barber. I also try frosting glass doors and making a pattern as I do it. This old beat up and boring piece of furniture turned out really nice.

Your understanding of the different types of wood & the fittings used is astonishing. you have a real empathy with these materials & a wonderful set of skills to deal with so many different problems that arise. This old bookcase started out looking 'pretty tired' to say the least & the legs were a great touch, then on top of that you decided to have a go at frosting the glass doors & what a fantastic result! I so admire your thoughtfulness, sensitivity & ability to bring pieces, that most people would deem junk, back to their former glory & quite often better than the original. Congratulations on this one, Don from South Aust.

You have been really inspiring to start trying to find older crap furniture (the way it is now) and giving me the tools and understanding of how to go about removing the old and giving me new, different (AND better) ideas on the final finishes. (Being a woodworking for SOOO many years, it's always been the same for me. Stain whatever kind of wood I decided (or had laying around) to use. Then spraying on 3 coats of satin lacquer. Now you are giving me an acquired taste for the nature look with REAL wood and a subtle, enhanced finished look. THANKS!!

The previous owner painted it several years ago & I love it as it is. However, the bottom trim piece has a little damage on the side we see (of course) it actually looks like a piece of ceiling molding. Any way I could send you a picture of it? I don’t want to replace the wood trim. I just want to cover up the damage & try to find a paint that matches fairly well so it’s not so obvious.
