    I like them in the 8 foot range, the pipe is bent around heat formed and easy to cap off. Plus the percussive effect of hand on and off gives a bass-n-drum track.

      Oh Yeah! I discovered the same recently with my 2 inch bore PVC overtone flute! It is more than 8 feet long. ruclips.net/video/0NXL-BxIreg/видео.html

    Hi Max, I'm a total beginner and just received the overtone flute today. I don't really get how do you achieve different notes - I know that you said to use different pressure when blowing, but it doesn't seem to work..

      You should use your tongue to help achieving the right air pressure by pronouncing a ‘t’ with the tip of it. Make sure to nicely blow into the slit of your flute as in the video by perfectly covering it with your lips but not closing it up. With the time you want to put consciousness on your breathing technique and use your diaphragm to build up the right pressure. For now just try to blow as strong as you can once and see how high the flute gets.. ;-)

      @@maxbrumbergflutes Thanks for the reply. I mean I understand what you are trying to explain in the video and trying to follow that, but somehow can not achieve the trick from 1:25 in the video (not getting such a "wide scale" like you, just two: higher and lower). Perhaps it's because I have no experience and it's a matter of practise or perhaps I should really give up ;)

      iskapawlak in case it is a flute I made then it is a matter of practice, I watch carefully to have a wide range of scale and that each harmonic comes nicely, we can arrange a skype session. I cannot speak for other makers flutes though.

      tutorial lessons, positions of middle finger and how to play basics to play songs. Can you help me with this? I already have overtone flute but I am begginer and don´t know how to start play.

    • @maxbrumbergflutes
      @maxbrumbergflutes  7 лет назад

      i guess with the position of the middle finger you mean the finger closing the endhole. there is now way to say how much to close it to get to a certain tone, this needs to happen with your ears. for entire melodies and notations i recommend the book with CD of 'Jean Pierre Yvert - Spela Seljefloyt' ....but i am happy to upload more videos and will certainly work on it :-)

      not only Slovakia, the Carpathian countries, Ukraine, Romania, Hungary, Czech, Poland. In Poland, the two types, the lowlands are produced from the bark of willow, mountain elderberry.

      I guess this flute was played all around the world, in many different versions. It is logic because when you make a flute and have not yet drilled the fingerholes it is an overtone flute..

      I do not understand why this instrument is considered Slovak, it was not the Slovaks invented it.
