Been saying this for years. Electric Eye is the oldest iteration of that style i know of. Megadeth's Mary Jane also has a metalcore style riff randomly in it towards the end during a tempo change.

For me back then it was pretty shocking how nu-metal kids who were into Korn all of a sudden started playing 80s classic metal riffs. They named it metalcore because oldschool-haircore would not sound so great.
I am so confused. Having seen the Screaming for Vengeance tour in the third row in LA back in the day. That sounded zero like Electric Eye. I feel so stupid.
The first part is exactly like the original on the guitars but with different drums... The second part is the same chords, but different strumming and drums.
@@BlazonStone It defintely started more from at the gates later albums. This is just a pedal tone riff which happens to sound a bit liek modern metalcore.
Yeaj lol i dont know even with it sounding here tentatively different and more metalcore than the original it still sounds like the typical riff style and aesthetic of the time. Sh*t if this would be valid than half the entire discography by iron maiden could be made to sound metalcore 😂
Electric Eye sure sounds different than the last time I heard it!! 😱😱
Yepå hahahh

Cool that somebody else agrees hehe!!!
Accept - Breaker (1981)
Rainbow - A Light In The Black (1976)
Funny enough, As I Lay Dying did a cover of this song.
Is that the band where the guy tried to kill his wife
@@MeatCatCheesyBlasteryeah lmao
@@MeatCatCheesyBlaster As She Didn't Lay Dying
@@M4RCi92😂
@@MeatCatCheesyBlaster Yes. Fun fact: their vocalist wanted to re-name it: ''As my b*tch of a wife lays dying''
Fuck yeah you're absolutely right!!!
mhehehhehe!!!
It's one of my favourites. It just sounds so fecking cool
i will never get sick of this riff no matter how overused it is lol!
2 years later there was also deep purple's Perfect Strangers, featuring a facemelting outro riff with a similar vibe
the point is old classic rock/heavy metal bands had it all figured out long ago
Good video. Tack så mycket
Oh shit I love Blazon Stone, you’re the dude from Blazon Stone! The algorithm has blessed me.

Slaughter of the Soul by At the Gates is basically Electric Eye : The Album
NEver heard it but I belive you hahah
Exactly right, man!! Great version 🤘🔥🤘
this sounds so epic
Good catch! Probably explains why As I Lay Dying's cover of it is so good (check it out if you haven't heard it).
sick
I like that white guitar. Very nice looking
Thanks! I built it myself from wood blanks :)
Paint it Black is a metalcore riff without distortion
good point! haha
Well... you make a really good case.
Check out SATO by ozzy, I’m pretty sure that’s the first 😂😂
100% dead-on accurate!
Fuck, I never even considered that, but it fucking fits!
Defintiely does!
Haha that one was great 🤘😂
I love Yudas Priest
For me back then it was pretty shocking how nu-metal kids who were into Korn all of a sudden started playing 80s classic metal riffs. They named it metalcore because oldschool-haircore would not sound so great.
Hahahah
So that's, like, 73 genres Judas Priest have invented now? I agree
Lol this kind of riff only occupies a small, shitty corner of metalcore.
What year was that? Death used a 578 riff as early as Scream Bloody Gore in 88 on Evil Dead. But they were massive Priest fans so yeah lol

All metalcore riffs are just Foolish Games by Jewel sped up with distortion
Heavy metalcore
Every Testament song also
don't blame metalcore on Priest
Sick tone dude
“…..from Youdass Priest…”😂
Did I pronounce it that badly ?
@@BlazonStone Who said its bad? :) itsall good , nice riff.
@@4stringrr78 Haha thanks!!!
this and Death's spirit crusher
The latter was Nineteen Ninety fucking Eight. That barely even counts as early for metalcore.
@@ChrisStoneinator Evil Dead has main riff using these notes, so does Zombie Ritual. Ten years earlier than Spirit Crusher
Not the metalcore riff! Melodeath riff!
But the Metalcore kids all got it from Children of Bodom, and At The Gates.
What song?
It says in the title
nah
yeh
Was it not spirit crusher?
spirit crusher's from like '98 lol
This video is half joke half real
The style of 5-7-8 chugga metalcore riff can origin possibly from "Electric Eye"
@@BlazonStone It defintely started more from at the gates later albums. This is just a pedal tone riff which happens to sound a bit liek modern metalcore.
@@rechargeproductions4894 I didn't use any pedal :) so I dont know what you mean with "pedal tone riff"
@@BlazonStone Pedal tone means a repeating tone throughout the phrase, in this case open E string 0's in-between 5-7-8.

Thats not really true, because Iron Maiden doesn't really write riffs in this style at all.
They dont do much "chug E string" riffs generally.
I disagree bro i think this has more of a Caseycore feel to it than deathcore but could be just me??
No idea what Caseycore is hah
lol that was quick.
I guess :O hahh
