      @rjmfishtales  Год назад +1

      Yes it is durable. I am tired of going back and forth, back and forth. I wanted to get one more way of transporting kayak that fits in my size restraint in my shop and be done. Plus main reason to get trailer again is to be able to take out people for my charity and my son eventually. Thanks brother.

      @@rjmfishtales I get it. I repurposed a harbor freight trailer that works great but I am constantly replacing the trailer lights and light brackets everytime I dont pay attention when pulling the yak aboard and bang the lights. At some point I will pull the trigger for a trick set up like yours. Keeping Slaying!

    Man that is a nice kayak trailer you got. I am looking for a kayak trailer my to carry 11 kayak. I don't know if I Should do a DIY trailer or have one Build. Good video buddy thanks you for sharing it. I hope you & your family are doing well & having a good weekend.

      Thank you sir. I would take a utility trailer and build racks out of unit strut. That is a lot of kayaks. Or you could have someone build you one. It will cost quite a bit though. Look at Malone trailers. They have rack trailers as well. Family is doing good. I am just working on landscaping. Fishing tomorrow.

    OTWI is extremely pricey for what you’re getting. It may be a custom order and works for you, but it for the amount of materials used in that construction it’s highly priced. The Yakima box alone is a grand. I can diy this into a double decker for less than a grand in my back yard using an old steel frame utility trailer

    • @rjmfishtales
      @rjmfishtales  2 месяца назад

      Yes they are pricey but work very well. I am using a utility trailer now myself anyways.

    Hey great detail in your video much appreciated....i am torn between a basic double or a nicer single trailer like the one you have. If your comfortable discussing price please let me know a round about cost for the trailer as it sits in your driveway. I like to have pretty much exactly what you have for my pa 14 thank you.

    • @rjmfishtales
      @rjmfishtales  Год назад

      I got a little bit of a deal doing video and knowing Denny personally. But out the door normal price right now is $3900. Then the box I put on myself and got for $510 around Christmas time. Normal price is $630. The tube I painted myself and installed. Got tube from jobsite I was working on. So only cost me $100 for mounting and end cap kit from Amazon. So it’s a $4500 ordeal. But totally worth it to have for life. You can wet launch extremely easy or sometimes I slide off and just use my Boonedox wheels. Depending how busy ramp is.
      If I had the room I would have done the double but wanted to keep in my garage and didn’t want to give up my desk where I prep and do filming. But if it’s only one or 2 people you need to worry about the Tourney light works fine.
      I plan on doing a video soon for 3 month review and 4K miles on it already here shortly. Everything has been good.

    Great video. Great product. My question is this: Do you feel that the "upper supports with the wire mesh base" are sufficient to haul another kayak on. My girlfriend has a "Crescent CK-1" (11' length, 60 lb weight) that we will be using in addition to my Nucanoe Unlimited (Nucanoe Unlimited on the main bunks of course)

    • @rjmfishtales
      @rjmfishtales  Год назад

      Yes the upper supports are rated for well over 250 pounds. I have stood on top myself before. I am 252pds.
      I plan on putting another Hobie PA 14 on top very soon. Nothing to worry about. Just make sure you use good straps as it will bounce around. Just check strap’s periodically on long trips. You will be good to go and enjoy

  • @bbqbandit3453
    @bbqbandit3453 Год назад +1

    I’m building a garage….. can you tell me what the overall length is with your kayak on the trailer? I see your kayak does hang over the end.

    • @rjmfishtales
      @rjmfishtales  Год назад

      You need 18 feet with having the PA 14 on the trailer with the winch setup like mine as I have it moved as far forward as possible. The trailer itself is 17’6” overall.

    how did you mount the rod tube to where someone cant unscrew the ubolt bolts out snd take the whole tube?

    • @rjmfishtales
      @rjmfishtales  6 месяцев назад

      They could if they wanted to but they would just get an empty tube. So if they like the tube that much I can make another one.

  • @jeffreyau1286

    • @rjmfishtales

      ruclips.net/video/9wdkuo3xQbY/видео.html
      In that video I show you the paint I use. I forgot the exact name but I show you on that video. I also wrapped it with electrical tape as well. The good 3M one. You can also take black shrink wrap and install and heat up around the u bolt.

  • @reelswede8373
    @reelswede8373 Год назад +1

    Reall enjoyed the video, I've been toying with getting one of his trailers. The second kayak option just pushed me over the edge. One question what are you putting in the rod tube is it going to submerse in water?

    • @rjmfishtales
      @rjmfishtales  Год назад +1

      Thank you. No the rod tube on the lower mount will not make it into the water or get submerged. I chose the lower mount for the first tube so I had a void in between right now to have a little access to kayak on that side. Who knows I may never add another tube.
      The tube is going to be used for bringing additional rods if they don’t fit In Yakima box. Probably the ones I will be giving away to people I take out in the future.
      I would get one of the trailers in my opinion if you are going to utilize it a lot. They are worth it and it’s about a 3 month or so wait period once you get in line. That will give you some additional time to save money if needed.

    What are the bunks made out of.

    • @rjmfishtales
      @rjmfishtales  Год назад

      The bunks are made out of steel tubing with marine carpet on top. You definitely want to add the carpet if you get one. It’s allows the kayak to slide on and off easier and prevents any rust from forming over the years from the on and off of the kayak.

      No sir. It’s made in North Carolina. On the Water Innovations will ship to you. Not sure how much but probably not much more if you drove round trip, stayed overnight in a hotel and drove back with the gas. Currently the lead time is out till September so would give you time to save up! It’s worth the wait for it if you have means of getting your kayak to the water now.

      Exactly how I have it $5000. But you can go to around $3000 and have a quality trailer that will last and get your kayak to the water safely. If you go to On The Water Innovations website you can price the trailer up with all the options and models.
