*Fun Fact:* Thanks to modern emmissions compnace the Detroit two stroke engine is now cheaper, more fuel efficent, more realible and far more easy to wor on than anything on the road.
Was in vietnam in 69-70 Brown Water Navy on PBR's They had two 6v-53's no turbo's !! I kept my two running great . Direct drive to two Jacuzzi pumps . ---
Andrew King I'm not saying you're wrong. But when I was an engine machinist and then later a desiel tech on the Alaskan pipe line they referred to that color as Euclid green. And that's all we ever used to paint detroit diesel engines? If you actually have more information I'd really appreciate any input please. And again you're right it's ugly and looks like blank doesn't it?? Actually I prefer violet pink with chrome super charger and rocker arm covers and of course the twin turbos rather than one single turbo. I noticed on the pipe line that one large turbo didn't R as fast as twins. We used to tunnel the intake a bit and use a rear discharge huffer for customers that wanted more ass. And of course gear it or faster and use after market turbos with a lot more pressure that'd wake um up!!!
And yeah I don't know what you want it for but they do take up a little more space than a 454 LS. And with the modifications I've suggested yank a duely around like it's not there! Or attached cause if you put a load on just about any diesel engine it thinks you wanna fight producing more compression hence more ass. Throw an engine block in the back up against the tailgate and you may get shorter time and higher speed in the quarter. Due to additional traction and resistance. But of course an eight would be a cylinder longer taking up more space. Go to a junkyard and see the two next to each other.
@@dieselbossbrandon OH yeah like 10 times as long since you can replace the sleeves and rings and pistons and end up with a brand new engine!!! And if you spend the extra bucks and I do mean $$extra$$ you can get a fully rollerized block and yes that includes the two cams in the V configuration anyway as well as the front gear sets!!! They'll actually last several life times even if in an over the road long haul truck!!! Of course the truck won't last that long!!! The Detroit diesels I built on the Alaskan pipe line back in the 70s are still running!!! Even in the harsh weather of deadhorse Alaska!!! Don't you just love those screaming Jimmy's?????
@@kimnielsenthewordyvikingett159 I really miss them. I actually just got my 1st one a 453T in a 1978 c6500 GMC box truck. Haven't heard it run yet but working on it so far looking very promising! I'll definitely post a video of it soon when I get it running

@Dingus E. Dow A 17 year old inline 6 15 liter Cummins Signature has a small turbo and produces 600hp and 2000ft/lbs torque. Yep 2000ft/lbs @ 1400rpm. It has 42 psi boost. Even today there are very few truck engines that make 2000ft/lbs torque. Latest Scania V8 has 2600ft/lbs though.
The engine in front of you happens to have both. The ribed looking thing between the rocker arm covers is the blower or supercharger. The snail shell shaped thing opposite end of the man is the turbo. Making it a (6v53T). Two Ts in the insignia would mean twin turbo.
She's so cute buy that baby girl a drink!!! Awe and so sweet she sings like a nightingale!!! That's an incredibly sweet baby girl!!!!

Nice
I would definitely put a 6V53 in a pickup truck!
Yeah but it'd outlast the truck. If both are new.
It always amazes me that the turbo can actually boost the supercharger
Why not?

Lots more than an LS.

Why engine oil is coming continuesily oil filling elbow ( fitted with rear housing) when the rpm is above 1800 plz reply
Check compression and check for leaks at seals. You don't want oil leaks or blow-by, or else you could have a runaway condition.
