As an American, I've been watching Alex's videos and others on Malta. I need to visit to see everything up close and personal. The cost of living compared the USA is so much cheaper, and I live in Texas which is low cost to begin with. I just want to get out of the rat race and enjoy life. Those negative comments can be found anywhere you live. Example, Austin Texas is overrun with high rise buildings and California money that makes it impossible to live like you could 20 years ago. Blah Blah Blah... I also lived in NYC. $10-12 for a Guinness and breakfast at $20 a plate minimum. Two people going out for dinner was at least $125 with a tip. I just need to understand the visa's available because I would be retiring if I go there. I'll be at the local pub or museum with my girl :)

Also here in Malta medical expenses are much much much cheaper, even private hospitals. There are no charges for garbage collection, utilities are much much cheaper, so is rent. Education is free and so much more.....

For us locals, it used to be unheard of that our kids would share an apt, it's a cultural thing. Obviously not so abroad and I have lived away in various countries so my kids have shared apts. That said as we are referring to Malta, our concern is that our infrastructure can't take it, hence ie., sewage problems, power cuts esp in summer and so forth.

Hi Alex, we had a good week vacation in Malta. Stayed in Buggiba Double Tree. Only came this morning to UK. Oh C’mon back to miserable rain and gloomy weather to witness again.
I have two kids can’t wait them to finish their studies. Once they completed we will be definitely moving to Malta for sure.

The things you brought up of not liking Malta lack of nature and pollution and lots of cars came upon us since foreigners have been coming to Malta as residents. We are overpopulated. Because people need places to live in, so everywhere is being built and construction going on everywhere. People earning good money especially business man and people with qualified jobs live a comfortable life. People with minimum wages and with a family are struggling.
I am Maltese and i remember a different Malta. We had more nature and pure air. Married women stayed at home taking care of their kids, only husbands worked. With minimum wages they could keep their families living a decent life.

Madam i think you are wrong. without foreigners paying taxes in Malta and without foreigners moving the maltese businesses do you think Malta can survive? Do you know how many maltese families make they monthly income renting appartment to the foreigners?
If the foreigners leave malta you think maltese people can survive on its own?

@@dejanstankovikj4812 While I don't agree with this woman the idea that Malta couldn't survive without foreigners is way beyond stupid when it was doing exactly that before 2012 when it barely had any. Malta is the one doing these refugees (or expats as they like to call themselves) a favor, not the other way around.

I am agreed with you, I lived in your country for 7 months because I studied there, Malta is a small island and a lot of people traveled there to have a better life but in my case, I went back to Colombia because jobs no qualifieds no pays them very well and the life is too expensive but I loved Malta, it is a wonderful Island.

    • @AlexinMalta

Dear Alexandra. The influx of foreigners was because your government created a scheme for the gaming companies for lower taxes and attracted billionaires to shift their companies to Malta where they pay less taxes, this brought up foreign workers, Maltese people saw the opportunity and sold their houses to developers to build block of apartments. Malta is beautiful, so tourists keep on coming, Maltese decided to build and open loads of Hotels and Restaurants to accommodate this tourists, Maltese also had to find foreign workers to work for lower salaries, back in the days it was Bulgarians, Romanians, Macedonians, Serbians, than these balkan countries stopped coming over to Malta, so Maltese had to find other nationalities to work for lower salaries (Filipinos, Indians, Bangladesh etc) and now post Covid we have the Colombians on the island. The truth is, Maltese see opportunities to make more money thru foreigners. Next time you think the foreigners are the problem, please read this comment again, or read it 3 times, and understand, the only responsible people for Malta loosing its own identity are the Maltese themselves! Good day

If we learned anything from your Channel, it’s that the experience differs from a person to another, depending on the job they got, the community they were able to join whether it’s a community where they have the same nationality or an international one, and the lifestyle you want to lead (Work / Life balance)
For me as a non-EU Hospitality professional, it has been an absolute nightmare from all aspects. Although it’s a tourist country there is way less opportunities in the field.
Are Maltese friendly? Well Just like any other country some are wonderful and welcoming, and others are not as hospitable
Do I regret coming? Absolutely not, I have lived in many countries and plan to try more.
Would I advise newcomers? I strongly believe that you have to see for yourself, although we’re all human, we’re not the same, maybe Malta could be your jam.
At the end, all I can advise you is: Go for it, try your luck, answer the question by yourself, it will help you grow as an individual.
Thank you Alex and best of luck for all

We have been living in Malta for 5 years. It is a very nice place. Good climate, historical, well connected to the rest of Europe. But the comments about traffic is correct. Malta is a very small island and overbuilt. There is construction everywhere. Malta also has no forests as it is basically a rock in the Mediterranean. It depends what you are looking for.

A lot of our kids want to move and live and work abroad. Because they studied to get good qualifications and want well paid jobs. Abroad there are opportunities for better salaries and with a price of a small apartment in Malta you can have a villa in certain countries. Plus to give a good upbringing to your kids better live in a foreign country. Malta has lost all values ,morals and honesty since we became multicultural. And everyday needs to live abroad are the same as Malta though salaries are much higher abroad. You can live a much comfortable life and make money abroad than living in Malta

I lived in Canada for 16 years but truly, you can't compare the two countries. That said, Malta does have more advantages esp in the Health sector. Unlike your end which doesn't have private health care, Malta does like most European countries.
