    June 8, 2019.
Reflexion on the topic of eLearning.
First, I saw the first man (or Team) going on the moon... on black TV. It was an EVENT!!! I was 4 years old. I saw every second of it. My father bought a TV because he did not want too mist it. At that time, technology was associate with prosperity and progress... That is how and when High Technology appeared in my life.
Then the Toaster came, followed by the first washing machines, and I was about 5 years old. I could say that my mother really appreciated this new invention. And me too. It was like having a big robot in the kitchen. It was almost like the robot i saw in the TV Show ''Lost in space''. But it made more noise.
My mother was watching woman shows where they talked about education, cooking, sewing, house old, etc. TV was educating people to make them better citizen, hose wife but also better consumers. Marketing was already a successful business.
We intered in the world of visuals. If you could see it, it was real. Like we did with journalistic photography but imagine when you can hear it too!!! In the 60's we already had news, TV reports, live events. It was an awakening to what was the world all about. My Father discover that he could watch baseball on TV too. So every body was happy of what technology could provided.
Looking on my past and from today's point of view.... People are surrounding and using eLearning all accross the world not even being always aware of it.
For example, the first experience with it for me was at 7 years old (I'm 54) at my first year of school, it was when we were looking at a Daily TV Show ''Les Oraliens'', was a French language children's television show made in Québec from 1968 to 1970; it was the first television program produced by the newly formed Radio-Québec, known today as Télé-Québec. The show's foremost purpose was language acquisition, which was conveyed by the way the aliens used their superpowers: in order to magically accomplish difficult or impossible tasks, they would state a sentence to be repeated and then silently mouthed it while children at home were supposed to say it. Les Oraliens, unlike a contemporary children's program with a similar premise, Les 100 tours de Centour, was more about proper pronunciation than sentence construction. ''Les 100 Tours de Centour'', like the Oraliens, the main purpose was language acquisition, which was conveyed by the way Verbo would do magic: when he needed to perform a trick, he would ask his talisman (named "Memo") for a formula (always in the form of "it is a [subject], it is an [object], it is the [subject] of the [object]".) He would then close his eyes and repeat, asking the children at home to do the same.
Can you think of one TV show kids watched and listened in early years of life (Sesame, Street, Teletubbies... here in Quebec we had Passe-Partout).
At 10 years old... Then audivisual and audiotape for langage learning, came into the class as a tool for teaching. Teachers did also used music (33 and 16 disc.... CD ancesters!!!) to make us learn our pronouns, verbs, etc. Even dance, and clap our hands to make it more kinetic and organic learning. We were into a kind of revolution of learning process and development... science and psychology was more present... and I notice they were less priest and nunes in our schools too..
14 years old... Then TV was more accessible, we learned about ''How to...'' and ''DIY projects'', Cooking, Skin care, Children Care, Sewing, etc. In fift grade, we recorded our theater performences for French class and music practices to develop our critical thinking, observations, self awareness, confidence, etc.
17 years old.... Later, the computor came and we experiemented AI and even learn more about our self through Personality test, Skill test and to do our first exam on a computor. We did not yet had internet... Not much long after that, then we experimented inter-activity and Nitendo came into public world. We saw our first interaction with computor in school to learn new skills and develop even more and faster. We were into the new age... the 80's and elearning was now accessible to all. And new jobs that did not existed before appeared for man and woman (in psychology, human resources, technology, informatic, science and pharmaceutical, etc).
When i was a nanny, I also followed the first fitness show with Jenny Craig on TV, to stay healthy and lean and learned how woman should eat to stay attractive... I was about 19. We had later Josée Lavigueur who made her own in French in Quebec. They really influence and changed woman habits. Now woman of all age are training.
25 years old and later.... Later when we had internet (it came later in Canada) we had to learn to communicate by chat and emails. We learned online and long distance learning in the 90's too. We learned to send files by emails then too deposite our work on a server.
RUclips was a great source for eLearning with all those tutorials and DIY projects. I was a big fan of that kind of learning already, and TV was having all those specific chanel, such as HGTV, Discovery Chanels, PBS, Historia, This Old House, etc. Even Cooking Shows such as The Urban Peasant or Martha Stewart were pure delight!!! Now MasterChef Australia.
I used my Google Map to learn about new countries before I go for my travels. I even discover Paris by surfing on top roofings. That was fun!!! But also very instructive.
I now decide how technology is going to serve my goals... and when to use it.
I can watch a movie, recoder it and look at it later. Same for my University Classes.
I even teach my son how to cook by webinar, skype and hangout. Made some video conferences to teach my collegues. Teach my sister how to paint from miles of distance by the magic of internet.
Use the phone to have my mothers advices about everyday life or call my teacher for is feedback. Even through Skype. On the phone!!!! WOW!!! Isn't it fantastic? !!! I learned German via my phone last year and practice as wishes... until satisfaction and results were completed.
People are using eLearning without even knowing they are using it. It is in the context of school or at work they notice the most the form of it but we are all longtime users and even before Kindergarten.
So when I hear someone who does not agree with the concept of it, well I think there is a lot to talk about and how this technology (or process, because it is only the support such as radio, tv, computor, video games, cassettes, DVD rom, satellite, etc that is transformed and evaluates... ) have made a better world.
I think the misconception I find the most talking about this topic with others is that people think that eLearning IS only an online courses & long distance classes. It could be but it is much much more then just that. And I think that even video game compagnies could also say their share on this topic. I could had military field to this too.
So that is now my reflection on the topic. But it is changing more and more I learn about it, and it is all for the better. In ten years people will begin living on March, there will be stellar station in space with a big community of searchers and scientifics gratuated students living there lbuilding the new galactic age for next gen to come. We will find new solutions to polution and health conditions, and my last grand-child will have a robot as a friend. Car may even fly like in Star Wars and use other kinds of energy we are not even aware of to this time. Everything is possible.
That saying, we still have a lot to learn. But the way I see it, it will go even faster then what I lived over all of my fifty years. So better be ready for changes and adapt to it to survive and maybe enjoy it. The good thing is that eLearning is more and more adapted to divers kind of learners. So that will created also new innovations in the field of eLearning and give us lots of space to grow in this field.
Looking to hear more about you and keep on your good work!
Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experiences and to contribute to make this world a better place to live and be.

I usually say that e-learning or blended learning does not replace the classroom but it does/can/should replace lectures and lecturing in the classroom.

As an ID, if I see that classroom training is pretty bad -poorly facilitated and inconsistent with no option to replace or up skill the facilitator, I will make eLearning to replace that classroom training.
