Really interesting video, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I did notice that you (M2) started most of the races at too high of an rpm which made you have to shift almost immediately after starting. I looked up a dyno sheet of the M2 and saw that it carries the same peak power from around 5.7K rpm so being in the gear that starts you off at that rpm is likely how you close the gap much sooner. Both cars look like they’re a blast!
Did the Tesla heat the battery? Navigating to a Supercharger can add as much as 80 HP for the 60-130 mph. If you monitor the Tesla through Canbus you will see that it can actually go all the way to 613 HP at the battery if the battery is hot enough. Cold battery just kills the straight line acceleration. SOC doesn’t matter anywhere near as much as heating the battery does.
@ I have a bunch of videos on my channel about it. My Model 3 went 10.75 @ 126+ mph full weight in the 1/4 mile and 10.63 @ 127+ mph with weight reductions. However, you have to get that battery really hot to reach the full horsepower potential.
IMO, ICE vehicles build a better load throughout the RPM. Meanwhile, an EV has a big jump boost, but as you can see, it becomes a constant, not gaining any faster speed than it already did.

You can see the German influence of the BMW. Its made for high speed Autobahns, so it pulls hard above 60 mph and keeps pulling harder as the speeds increase.

Yeah exactly. Plus, I like having 2. Each one feels so much different from each other and you can appreciate it more when you're not driving the same car every day.
Nice improvement for Tesla on the M3P. Unfortunately only the American market gets the better motors and battery pack so everywhere else, the M3P is lagging. I wonder how this race would go with M3 comp vs Tesla 🤔
When the battery level drops to 60-70%, the M3P has already lost over 80-100 horsepower. I don’t quite understand why they wouldn’t fully charge the battery before doing a race test?

LOL. Worse case scenario starting at 70 percent state of charge and you can see the car gradually gets slower and slower after each race. This isn’t really demonstrating what the model 3 is capable of. Also a lot of these races it looks like the model 3 is behind the m2. Every race after the first is just sandbagging the model 3 more and more.
@@JVette01 Sorry - I edited a few times and it came out unclear. Bottom line, my point was that the Model 3 is a 10 second car and these roll races really aren't demonstrating what it's really capable of due to the fact it started at 70% SOC. But what makes it worse is as you're watching, you start to think the BMW has a huge advantage at higher speeds. Instead what I believe we're really watching is the Model 3 is getting slower and slower due to SOC and battery temps. Don't get me wrong - the Model 3 will start to lose advantages at higher speeds, but not as severely as this video shows. For example, if the first run you did was from 60 MPH it wouldn't been nearly as close as some of the later runs you did from 60 mph. I'm a huge M2/M3 fan, but even from a roll, with both the Model 3 and M2 in the best conditions (cool day & right gear/high state of charge), the M2 is going to get walked hard. In 1/4, Model 3 traps about 5 MPH faster. I think it would be interesting to see a rematch from 60 MPH - 130 with a higher state of charge (80-90%).
If the SOC goes down, say, 5% throughout the races, It's not gonna drastically change anything... but I do agree it would perform better at 100% of course
also if you pre heat the battery you get peak hp and torque and its a difference in power. but anything above 80. its a difference in power. but then again this is more real world testing
Tesla should have been near 100% for this, how much of a difference would it make? But you don't have 93. Run it back with e30 and the Tesla at least 95%
Makes no sense. M2 and T M3P 2024 weighs about the same but tesla has reported 510 horses vs. 473 for M2 with 0-60 mph time of 4.1 seconds. I know the 0-60 and quarter mile Tesla will kill the m2 easily. but these 40, 50, 60mph rolling starts - the key is maximum horses/weight - so no way Tesla loses in almost any scenario. Was the the tesla not in the SPORT mode?
I hate when people brake after they start losing 😂😂 good races though the m2 kept up well up top considering its lower on HP. A m4 comp would be a great race
I've already raced a M4 Comp RWD and it's pretty much neck and neck. There's not a big difference even though BMW claims the M2 has "50 less hp." ruclips.net/video/26cNTtokckU/видео.html
@JVette01 yea that was weird though becuase "supposedly" the RWD is faster from a roll but the XDrive one u raced before that gapped u alot harder. Just depends on the day and if the car is running properly and alot of other variables. I think the XDrive race u did with the m3 or m4 showed the difference more accurate forsure.
It *should* with 50 more hp.. but it doesn't in my experience. I've raced several.. since they weigh pretty much the same, a true 50hp difference would mean the M2 gets gapped hard but it doesn't.
I love you videos, but it’s kind of 🐓 to not do a dig race. Yes, we all know what would happen but that has never stopped you before in other cars. I think it a little deceiving to show only races that have a slight edge for one car, and then purposely leave off a race that would show multiple bus lengths.
It’s literally a waste of gas. I’d accelerate to like 60mph then let off. There’s no point. I’m fully aware the m3p that does a sub 3 second 0-60 will beat the m2
Yesir people wanna re imagine what a faster car means. A Bugatti was always the fastest car becuase it's top speed. Not a fast 0-60 time. M2 is clearly the "faster" car and the one I'd wanna be in if it was a police chase 😂😂
I'd actually rather be in the Tesla. Blends in more with traffic and you can take off without making noise or drawing attention. Also, the Tesla is limited to 163 whereas the M2 is 155. Just saying
@@JVette01 damn the m2 is limited to 155? Is that with or without M drivers pack? My m4 does 185.. and nah the tesla would be trash in a chase the only way to get away is hitting the highway .. teslas top end is terrible unless it's a model s plaid. Yeah, but here in Mexico we don't have the autobahn :/ and 90% of the time the Tesla will beat the M2 if you find one on the street. The M2 has to react perfectly and have the car in all the right modes whereas the Tesla just floors it.
@ms3ben Till what state of charge, though, if you're cranking along at those speeds! Seems like it would be frustrating af with Tesla ownership in general when max power is desired!!
Honestly the 3 performance doesn't have too much of a top end difference than the long range. great races the bmw top end is undefeated! Id be curious to see long range vs performance on a 60 roll.

Ur a very smart man in getting a daily and a weekend fun car besides spending it all on a very expensive single car. If i were in ur position id be getting a 100k dream car then probably losing my ass on it with the mileage. 😂
Yeah exactly. Plus, I like having 2. Each one feels so much different from each other and you can appreciate it more when you're not driving the same car every day.
20% more expensive and 10% slower. We have certainly reached an inflection point
lol both cars offer a different experience.
@@JVette01 yeah if you consider buyer's remorse as an experience.
?? So confused
Nice improvement for Tesla on the M3P. Unfortunately only the American market gets the better motors and battery pack so everywhere else, the M3P is lagging. I wonder how this race would go with M3 comp vs Tesla 🤔
M3 Comp xDrive and Model 3 Performance are very close in both roll and dig. The BMW will pull past 130 though.
The motors are the same. It's the battery pack that is different.
@@Themazcorner my bad, thought they kept the same rear motor as previous gen
tesla is impressive for the price, tech, running cost and in real life race without going over 100 mph jail speed for most places.
Nice runs dude!
Now do the Model S Plaid.
What’s the point?
@@JVette01 So you can see it trash the BWM or course.
You’re dumb. Why race a car with more than twice the hp. That’s not even fun to watch. Close matchups are the best.
Get that battery pre conditioned otherwise the top end power will decrease significantly. That model 3 can do way better than that
Is this an m2 comp?
No… a quick google search would tell you that there is no comp version for the new G87 M2
Another video showcasing the m2 only having "453hp"
hehe
I mean I’ve been watching all the videos and you have been the only one that noticed no one else
Good race, you should do a roll with a base model vette next. Close in price range.
Coming soon! Stay tuned
When the battery level drops to 60-70%, the M3P has already lost over 80-100 horsepower. I don’t quite understand why they wouldn’t fully charge the battery before doing a race test?
I doubt it 100hp difference..
Still have the M2 any day.
The only advantage that the M2 has in a straightline is that it can be modified.
FYI its not so much state of charge its more about battery temp. If he were to precondition his battery it will perform better.
Thanks for the tip
The result: In real life, M2 would not know which way Tesla M3P went as it is so much quicker in any speed under 130 mph
nah. in real life. Tesla is still gay shit car, meanwhile the M2 is a cool car
Hmm crazy I raced m3p and it got beat badly 🤷♂️
What do you own?
@ dp e50 Supra and a 370z but look I don’t know wats going on but all the videos I see of the 2024 m3p 60-130 run 10s-high 9s so yeah and the Supra u raced wasn’t even tuned I look at the speedo he’s doing 12s 60-130 that’s the same Time when my car was stock 😂 , like I said even my worst time I’m in low 8s best 7.5 also eveyone knows that dp e50 Supra will beat any m3 ,m4 ect stock even if they are tuned but once u add ethanol then Thant’s a different story. I love the s58 mod for mod it’s superior but if u wanna go fast fast then the B58 is better the faster bmw is the Supra 7.6 1/4mile
Tesla is faster for all intensive purposes, but…. Give that m2 a tune and its wrap!!! M2 all day
Love the vid man!!
Appreciate it!
Can you do 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5N vs M2?..after 100mph, it'll be more powerful then the new Model3P.
I don’t think that’s true
Should of done a dig that would have been really embarrassing 😂
It’s not even a race 😂 and my rear tires need replacing which would make it even worse.
@@JVette01 real race is a from a dig ... 100percent
I'm not sure what you're trying to say.
The Tesla plaid will eat every single BMW made from 0 to 150 mph!
This is a race between a model 3 performance and a M2. No one is talking about the plaid
The M2 finally loses to something! Well, almost 🤣
Roll racing is for clowns. Either your car is fast or it isn't
Roll racing gives an accurate representation of which car is faster. With a 0-60 it’s mainly up to traction.
Hell yea!
Silent but deadly
Short distance ... TESLA WINS ... LONG DISTANCE BM MAY CATCH UP
Tesla should have been near 100% for this, how much of a difference would it make? But you don't have 93. Run it back with e30 and the Tesla at least 95%
My assumption is it would’ve been able to stay up front til the end of this road. Every 10% is about 10hp/1mph in trap speed in my experience.
The fastest mode is called “insane” and this is how it performs on 70% soc vs a stock M2. And mine is rated for 453
The new Tesla's a 1/4 11 sec car, so this was a given. PS Time to tune the M2 mate.😁
Actually it’s high/mid 10s car
EV owner here and I have to say that's most annoying thing about the performance. 🙄
What’s the most annoying thing?
An Ioniq 5N might have a winning chance
Nope, new model 3P is faster.
I have ordered my m3p today, sadly we have the less powerful version here in the Eu
I have drove the uk spec one and it’s no way as fast as this I have an m4 x drive and it was no where near as fast as
UK ones are slower
The M3P is $55K; how much is your BMW M2?
71k
Model 3 is quick, not fast. That's why I had to sell mine and go Plaid
The plaid is too fast imo.. It doesn’t have the braking nor handling for the amount of speed. However, the one I drove was without the track package.
These races don’t really make much sense unless you charge the Tesla to 100%
How does it not make sense? You can’t drive around on 100% all the time.
@ I mean just for the racing purposes
If anything, these races are more real world. But yes, I asked him to charge it to full before the race and he showed up with 70%
@@JVette01 where you located… I got a 2024 m3p… we can run it back…I’ll charge to 100%. I stay in SoCal
In the Vegas part of Mexico.. but I could just run it back with my buddy if I felt the need
I used to shit on Tesla but I’m about to trade in my 2 series after watching this. Don’t forget that the Tesla is way cheaper and has 4 doors!
M3 failed in any metrics and costs too much. The played in same price category will pulverized this BMW whatsoever.
Why you dont compare the 0-100
I hate when people brake after they start losing 😂😂 good races though the m2 kept up well up top considering its lower on HP.
Even in that race is was extremely close when not from a dig.. needless to say, the M2 and M3/M4 comp make close to the same power.
@@JVette01I wouldn't use that race as a benchmark theirs other videos of the m3 and m4 pulling hard on the m2.
BMW : Power
Plus then u have to factor in the model 3 battery overheating if u push it to hard which is a huge problem for the new model. Which I think ur forgetting.
That's all hypothetical nonsense.. shouldn't be running from police anyway.. that's an unrealistic scenario.. and yes, My M2 (and all other m3/m4) are limited to 155 without the driver's package.
@@JVette01 end was just a joke. The fact the model 3 has a higher top speed then ur spec m2 and u still pulled top end says alot. Should of had u from start to finish. U should just cop the model 3 performance! Seems like it suites u better.
Doing 60 rolls is not even a race
Thanks for letting me know, it’s my first time
@ 😂😂 like your sarcasm
Tesla wouldn't be very good on a German autobahn lol
Yeah, but here in Mexico we don't have the autobahn :/ and 90% of the time the Tesla will beat the M2 if you find one on the street. The M2 has to react perfectly and have the car in all the right modes whereas the Tesla just floors it.
Plaid does just fine
@ms3ben Till what state of charge, though, if you're cranking along at those speeds! Seems like it would be frustrating af with Tesla ownership in general when max power is desired!!
Fuckin right it would
Nah, I think that they do just fine.
Which car would you rather own? 🤔
The M2 of course lol. But the Tesla M3P is probably the best daily. I have a long range daily.
@@JVette01I knew the answer already 😉I placed an order for the M2 last week. 2025 model in Skyscraper Grey.
The BMW is a girls car! Geez…..
I guess I like girls cars then
Honestly the 3 performance doesn't have too much of a top end difference than the long range. great races the bmw top end is undefeated! Id be curious to see long range vs performance on a 60 roll.
We will set that up eventually! However, in my experience with my Long Range, the SOC affects your top end pretty significantly. Each 10% is roughly 10hp and 1mph in trap speed in my testing.
Huge difference in top end speed. But if you are talking about the old model, there isn’t much difference. This 2024 is a diff beast
60-130 in the 24 M3P is in the 8s...don't think the LR is in the same territory
@@kchen101 I was comparing the second 60 roll to the other video where he races the LR and the m2 but yeah no doubt performance is faster. I have a 2021 long range and even that feels quick.
Race the tesla at 100% charge it’s way faster.
In pathetic Australia with the gay low speed limits the Tesla wins on any road or freeway. Have owned both was a BMW fanboy owning many M cars (2,3,4,5) but the Tesla for day to day is just better. Miss the engine noise and slightly better interiors but tbh day to day boring traffic Tesla kicks ass
That’s why I have one as a daily
@ fair play I can’t just two cars and they are waaaaay more expensive here than in the US.
I fart in teslas and get out.😂
Gay. Get an S580
Maybe once I’m 80 years old I’ll think about it
The electric car has no soul, the Beemer is a proper car
I heard new Tesla's come with a free copy of Mein Kampf in the glove box
the bmw is ugly.. but the Tesla...So ugly and its Musk money
You to clicked on a video of 2 cars you don't like.. makes perfect sense...
At least he has abs i guess
