  • CONGLETON PARKRUN! Join me as I provide an in-depth review of the CONGLETON parkrun experience and the stunning lake that is the centrepiece! This is the sixth parkrun I have recorded of which you can find a playlist of them all on my channel!

I will be doing parkruns all over the UK and rest of the world! Every Saturday I take part in a 5K run trying my hardest to get under 20 mins. Congleton parkrun is a UK parkrun just South of Manchester and is a great run to tick off the "C" on the alphabeteer challenge. It is nice and flat so good for quick times, however, it is very busy so may have a slow start unless you are at the front! It is 100% on hard standings so a great course for all occasions. Hope you enjoy.

I am the lady just on the right at the end doing the sprint finish. I could hear you coming behind me and decide to push to not let whoever it was past me. Thanks for the video

Oh no way! Happy you found the video 😄 Yeah that’s what I like about parkruns, it makes you push that little bit harder than you would if you were running on your own. Well ran, glad you enjoyed the video!

I have only just found your channel a few days ago, I am enjoying your parkrun video's, all very informative, I can't wait to visit some of these events as they are on my to do list.

Thanks a lot mark! Glad you are enjoying and finding them informative as that’s what I am aiming for with these reviews! Will have to let me know how you get on with them 😄 Next two I’ve done are in Norway and Finland so a bit colder 😂

The gate by the water sports centre is usually open so it isn't usually a pinch point. I've done Congleton 12 times now and that was the first time I've seen it closed.
It's a good course but you need to get yourself near the front to start if you're chasing a PB.

Ah right I did think that it looked unusual for it to be closed. Good to know, thanks for that! 😊
Yeah completely agree, otherwise you’re losing a good 5-20 seconds, maybe more depending on how far back you start 👍

I like this Parkrun and it does hold my overall PB, however, if you're a fast runner like sub 20 female, sub 18 male, it's not actually an optimum course, the surface doesn't give full traction, has pinch points (as you noted) with little undulations and side slopes that add up to make it a little bit tricky. So a good choice for a modestly quick runner to snag a PB, but not so much for the time bracket above. That said, it's a nice course overall.
Worth mentioning to try to avoid using the car park, there are options further away (like Fol Hollow) as it does get full quickly

Hi Lindsay! Thanks so much for the comment 😄. Yes I agree completely with what you’ve said, traction is definitely not at full optimum. Little pinch points, slopes etc do make it a little harder taking a few seconds off. Yeah enjoyed the course, would imagine it’s a lot prettier in summer but still a good one for winter.
Great thanks for letting me know! As I was there on vacation, I don’t always find out the extra tips so it’s great people like you add them to the comments for others to see! Hope you enjoyed the vid 😊
