I'm new here. And new at 40 to dentures. I'm 6 weeks out of total extraction. I'm 5ft. 85lbs. Tiny mouth. I still am learning with temporaries to learn how to eat mushed pototoes. Thank you for your videos.
Just remember that everything takes time, healing and learning and don't let yourself get too frustrated, because frustration won't allow you to think correctly.
I like the eating with without adhesive because i like being able to remove my dentures rinse them off and rinse my mouth out and put them back in.I feel it helps my gums stay healthier doing that several times a day
I am only 1 1/2 years with my dentures. Even with a lower implant retained denture it still requires mouth control to keep them from lifting up wit soft squishy foods. I can eat every thing I was eating prior to having partial dentures, which don’t work as well as full dentures. Thanks to your eating techniques and persistence, I am learning to live comfortably with my new best friends!👍🏻😁
Both my parents had full dentures and now so do I. Unfortunately my parents passed away before I could ask them a million questions. But I saw them eat everything they wanted. Aside from some pain almost two weeks into getting my new teeth which will be adjusted in Tuesday. I can’t WAIT to try steak again. I WILL eat it.
@@denturesvsfood one month in and still can’t eat anything. But holding out hope and plugging away! I have been offered an opportunity to be a life insurance agent and busting my ass to complete it so I can get implants!!
Thank you so much Sir , this gives me so much hope!!! They say to take smaller bites so you dont choke. I will work my way up. But this is amazing. I.m so glad I found your channel
I'm so glad I found your videos!! I go in at 9am for 17 extractions and denture/partial placement. I have been adjusting the way I eat for years already because of the disintegration, so learning how to adjust to eating has become a normal process for me. I will definitely be watching ALL of your videos as I heal, very patiently!! Thank you SO much!!!
With mine I swallow a lot of meats mostly whole. I chew it but it never breaks it up. I also struggle with eating a simple sandwich, wraps and pizza. I have been wearing dentures for several years now. At one point I even made my own because I figured I couldn't do any worse than the ones I had. When I got dental insurance after I moved back to my home state, I had the set I currently wear. I'm starting the process for some Russell Klein ultra thins right now and thinking about getting a horseshoe upper as well.
I never get tired of your videos Bill.. I actually shared your links today in the denture group I'm a part of.. Oh, and by the way, thanks to Heather B and you, I bought the Densurefit and am on day 2 adhesive and powder free. I ate Arby's and Burger King yesterday and today. 1st time in over a year! It was bliss! Keep up the good work!
@@denturesvsfood It was...amazing! Short lived. I specifically asked them about my denture cleaner (Poligrip tabs) They said yes that's fine. Then I specifically asked about using Dentucreme toothpaste, they said yes that's also fine. Wrong! Both upper and lower liner came right out. So I wrote them again sending photos of the conversation, and what I used, and what happened to my liners. I'm beyond livid. My message was not very nice. That's because this whole experience was bad from the start. I ordered the top and bottom package, they only sent the bottom. I sent photos of the unopened package, so they sent me the top and apologized. Now they gave me misinformation that ruined the liners. $89 bucks down the drain in 2 days. I don't think so, they need to make it right. So they open tomorrow, I await their reply. Really annoyed. It worked fantastic while it lasted. But this is unacceptable. I finally got my pernament top denture and been eating steak with no problem. Bread is still an issue with it sticking but I always have a big glass of ice tea to help with rinsing.
Depending on what I am eating, I will just take out the bottom denture, and use my tongue to get to the little pieces of food. And then I put the bottom Denture back in. I myself, am not a steak eater. Yet, I do prefer meatloaf. I have not tried a baked potato as of yet.
it's always good to have a way of getting food out of the denture for sure. I like meatloaf but we ate so much of that growing up that I was just sick of it for a long time...lol

hello bill can you answer me to this question plz -Do ur top back teeth touch the bottom back teeth , Cos my moms do and is that normal ? thanks ..Keep up ur great work bill broo ..xx
when the mouth is closed all the back teeth should come together and the lower front teeth should slide right up behind the upper front teeth just slightly, so there should be a slight over bite but yes all the molars should be together when the mouth is closed.
@@denturesvsfood yes this is how my moms are as you just answered thanks a lot shes doing so much better after watching ur videos and great advise..cheers bill bro Godbless you for all ur do for millions of people that are struggling eating with so much plastic in their mouths i wish they would find some kind of diferent matiriul thats softer for the gums older people cant cope with such hard object called teeth (dentures) ....🥰🤩😇
Thank you now I can eat my favorite corn on the cob , and am glad you said something about the lower dentures rocking , now I know what to do. I made a horrible mistake on first day I got my dentures got some hot coffee took to big of a drink the hot liquid went under the top denture and it burned like hell , never made that mistake again. 1 more question it seem like every time I wear my dentures or my old Dentures haven’t got my new ones yet , but it seems like I always start gagging how do you stop that
Gagging is normally caused by the dentures not fitting correctly. And if you are using adhesive that compounds it. Some people have said to put a pinch of salt on the tongue and press it against the denture and that stops the gagging, they keep little salt packages with them at all times but I personally have never done that so I just have to buy what others say.
well normal is relative, for us denture wearers there is no such thing as getting Back to eating normal, we have to eat an entirely different way and we have to develop the skills to do that so in time we can Appear to be normal, and it will become normal for us to do things like this. It takes every one time to learn these tricks and techniques and be able to eat all the foods we love, but we are all different in how long that will take, some learn very quickly, and others take a little longer, so that will depend on you and how fast you heal and how hard you push yourself and learn. Remember it's going to take time, but as you watch my videos and learn you will be eating the things you love and figuring out your new normal much faster than if you were trying to learn all this on your own.
it takes a lot of practice, When I first started wearing my dentures without adhesive it was very frustrating, because I couldn't talk and I couldn't eat without the lower popping out all the time but over time you just learn how to keep it in place, here is one secrete I learned myself. When you speak, try not to open your mouth very far at all, the further you open your mouth the more the lower denture will move, keep your teeth close enough that you can just barley get your tongue between the teeth, and just project your voice louder, that's what I did and it worked great then over time as you learn more about what you need to do to control the lower denture you will be able to open your mouth more when speaking and things like that.
my bottom denture is very shallow in the front in other words if you look it you can see that it has very short walls, just enough to go around my gums just a little bit, if I put densurefit on the lower denture, it is just enough to fill that part of the denture in and make it flat in the front and then the walls don't catch on the gums any more, and my denture will slide all over the place, or I have to use adhesive, and I don't want either one of those things to happen. I have learned how to get a long with the lower denture and sometimes we just need to leave well enough alone....lol
Really like this video bill... wanted to ask another question though since we did my denture fit in my lower denture I’m starting to have an area on the right side that the skin seems to kind of split a little bit and spread apart and I can actually see bone under there so I have to keep taking the Denture out and only putting it in when I eat because it’s very tender and sore and I’m trying to get it to heal. Do you have any suggestions because this happened before and that’s why I kept adding more Denture fit and I don’t want to have to do that if I don’t have to… Please let me know if you have any suggestions thanks again Linda
It may not be bone it may just be a chunk of tooth that is working it's way out, I thought I could see bone once as well but it turned out that there was a little chunk of tooth trying to come out and the gum its self turned white. Once that chunk came out my gum went back to normal.
I was eating steak my first month with dentures, but I was not going to baby myself, I fought thru the pain and took little tiny bites, and just chewed that steak no matter how bad it hurt. I was hungry and couldn't live on liquid...lol
how is it you are able to eat with no adhesive on your lower dentures? Do the permanent ones just fit better than my immediate set I got? I have had them about 2 months now and I could not imagine eating without having them glued in.
the immediate dentures never fit correctly, and they suck to be sure, and yes the perm dentures will fit much better for sure, but with all that it takes a lot of practice to be able to eat with no adhesive on the lower denture, that is the one everyone struggles so much with because it doesn't get suction it just sit's there on the lower jaw and takes a lot of practice to learn how to control it.
I guess you are in the USA where the steak in probably pretty good and tender. The steak in Spain from a supermarket you need to put in on your local train track and let e few trains go over it, then drive over it with your 4 x 4 and you "may" be able to eat it even with normal teeth 🤣. Steak from a good quality steak house is normally much better when dining out.
the steak here is not that tender either at least not what we can afford, however if you salt it and let it sit in the fridge for about 8 hours before cooking and then sear on high heat on both sides for about one min per side, then cook the rest of the way thru on low heat flipping every couple min for about 8 min, it will be nice and juicy inside and just about med rare, the more you cook a steak the tougher it becomes.
Normally that means you are still healing and the gums are not completely toughened up yet, or you are shrinking and the dentures are becoming too big and you should either get some Densurefit and do a reline at home or see your Dentist about getting a soft reline to make the dentures fit correctly again. either way will make the dentures fit your mouth correctly and densurefit recommends always getting the soft relines from the doctor when they are available.
it takes time to get used to the dentures and learn how to control them, we all have trouble keeping the lower in place till be build up that muscle control in the lower part of the mouth that will help with that. it just take time is all.

Softer food is fine, but the more you chew tougher things the more you build the jaw muscles and the easier it will get. Just takes a little time
