I never thought of using grease to remove product buildup after removing braids. I’ve been using Apple Cider Vinegar mixed with water to remove the buildup. Yes it smells but it only smell while your using it and it doesn’t linger long. You have beautiful natural hair. Thanks for the tip.
@@emmanuella37 I use a spray bottle filled with 1 part ACV & 3 parts water. Spray directly on the knot or product buildup after you remove each braid. It aides in the detangling/removal process. I hope this makes sense.
i love taking down my braids i be leaving my hair for 3 months sometimes because i tie it up but i take them out like when they are 3 months and my hair is growing i tell you. one thing i love being black and having 4c hair that it will shrink but when blow dried it thick and long

I have my braids for two months and I can't to take them out , this make me wanna keep my gain in for more than 2 months bc they are so nice but as you said this got to go so Ima take them out soon , ty keep up the good work
I’m learning how to take my braids out from you cause girl my hair be sufferinggg when I have build up I just comb as hard as I can with the rat tail comb and sometimes by hair would just snap with the build up or I would just cut my hair too short. @@glowingkoko Thanks for responding. I took out my granddaughter's (2months in) braids. There was something like glue (other than build up) where the extension began it's braid-in. (Her hair was done by a professional). It was my 1st time taking this out & felt like foreverrrr to get it done. My arms were hurting. The blue magic definitely does help. I guess with practice it goes faster. Took 2 days with breaks for us.
@@veronicalyn9439 I’ve heard some scary stories of braiders using glue on peoples hair (not saying that it’s glue in her hair) but just be careful. It should not be hard to remove build up but I’m glad you were able to remove it. 🫶🏽
currently in my 5th week of braids but i took out the front row and corn rowed it as thats the weakest part of my hair that gets the most manipulation and product build up..so if i leave braids in any longer ill end up hairless at the front but will try abd keep the rest in as long as i can
I’ve had my box braids in for a month and a half and this is my first time getting them and I notice some are raised/loose. Is it time to take them out?
Just responding since no 1 responded yet. But I usually wash my hair after braids been in for a mnth or when u can smell the oils in ur hair. I wrk 2 jobs so i will usually wash when my head sweats with mild shampoo(no deep cleaning shampoos). I dnt condition unless i do a co wash. I try not to mess with my hair as often especially when the braids are getting old. Mines will stay in as long as they can. To hide new growth/old braids I brought the soft yarn hats from a hair store to wear.
Your not supposed to wash your box braids you keep them for 2 months take them out detangle your hair with your fingers use a rat tail tooth comb while taken out your to months box braids use a oil then after removing the sheed her then shampoo then deep conditioning
I’m sorry to hear that. A lot of things can cause breakage like: having tight braids, not maintaining and moisturizing your hair, or even not wrapping your hair up at night time. But the most important part is how you remove your braids. These are just some recommendations. Hope this helps! 💗

I'm not sure why ppl insist on putting on a bunch of product like jam gel prior to braiding. Def not necessary and will only result in the annoying build up.
It just depends on how good your hair lays down without gel. I use a lot of gel bc my hair doesn’t lay down without product, my hair would be too frizzy after doing the braids.
@@glowingkoko Your real hair should be wrapped up under the weave though. And most ppl I see braiding put the jam all the way at the base. Unless the person 's hair is super short or broken off, it makes no sense to put the jam down there. I think most ppl are just doing it out of blind habit.
@@agirlhasnoname6306 I’m a decent braider but not a professional lol. So the gel just helps to keep everything tucked and look neater. Everyone’s hair is different and there are different techniques when it comes to braids. I’m just sharing how I do my hair but I understand your points as well. ❤️😊
@@glowingkoko Sis I took down my 3 month old box braids and I used Apple Cider Vibegar Extra Virgin Olive oil it worked some but I noticed from the product build up I still have to go in this time with just grease this is a task and want to be easy and simple like combing through with ease this take down process can take days any other short cut because I'm striving for long hair too.
