I think there's a little misunderstanding concerning the schooling system and where Switzerland's strengh is in that context: regarding the basic School years: yes - the scandinavian states are holding the torch while Switzerland for much too long followed french or german schemes. Maybe a tad bit better than them here and there - but overall not that exeptional. The strenght lies within the training system most swiss workers go through. After finnishing the standard 9 years of obligatory school, Swiss youngsters can either go to a higher education facility (college or the like) or they do an apprenticeship meaning you sign up with some commercial employer to be trained either as bricklayer, office clerk, cook, mechanic and so on and go through a period of 2 to 4 years in which you partly work in a normal business/shop/garage for - say - 3 days a week while 2 days are spent at school. The training program there is drawn and monitored by a joint venture of industry related intrest groups (employers, unions) and state structures. At the end of that period you pass a test after which you are rewarded with an official certificate which confirms that you are a professional bricklayer/cook... you name it. This system sets a given standard regarding the average skill level of the workforce which in switzerland is very high in terms of quality as can be seen by numerous international professional competitions, where young swiss carpenters, bricklayers, cooks etc are almost always among the top ten. Not all professions can be certified this way,
Switzerland is one of the smallest countries in the world. And i just love watching people react to things from my home country. Because i love living in switzerland 😄
To put it in perspective how small Switzerland is: With roughly 41000 km² It would be the 10th smallest US State right between Maryland with 32000 km² and west Virginia with 62000 km²
Maybe a video about the reduit and our bunker system within the alps would be interesting to watch. Btw here are some fun facts about Switzerland: - The Lauterbrunnen Valley was Tolkiens inspiration for Middle Earth - We still have mandatory military service for men. (But it's easy to dodge that) - we have 4 national languages. - we vote 4 times a year - 2 of our 26 cantons (aka states) still vote by raising hands once a year; it's called Landsgemeinde. - We accidentally invaded Lichtenstein several times. - the pope's guard is Swiss.
The mountain at 6:00 is the matterhorn and the filmproduction you mean is probably Paramount pictures. Aprreciate the video by the way, greetings from switzerland😉
yes but the matterhorn is not the mountain from the paramount studios.. it is the Artesonraju and this is in peru in the andes ;) greetings from switzerland too ^^
Switzerland is also one of the richest country in the world and with the official highest salary in the world, that's why ppl think we are all rich, which is not true at all. We have many millionaires in percentages, but the big majority is not, because we are also the most expensive country in the world. Also it's a very diverse and multicultural country. We have four official languages, german and swiss german (biggest part of switz...), french, italian and romansh. Besides that we are the 2nd most multicultural country in europe, which means we have 41% foreigners and immigrants living here from all over the world. From the 59% ppl with swiss passport, there are like 10% with migration background. That's why our country and especially our youth is inspired by many cultures like hiphop, reggaeton, techno etc. I'm saying that as a half swiss / half filipino. I can recommend you also this video for more details about switzerland from geography now: ruclips.net/video/xY77dfvTVpA/видео.html
It should be noted that a significant part of the "foreigners" grew up in Switzerland or were even born here (sometimes even their parents grew up or were born in Switzerland, especially among the youngest generation). People don't automatically gain citizenship at birth like in the US.
Richest country…do you know how hard we work…😮 and so many ordinary person… wrestle to come around each month… The secret of Switzerland 🇨🇭 was our true christian background ….a renewed heart gave a renewed life - and made people upright, working hard, diligent, disciplined life’s… We now live in a post christian society and I’m glad I have the age I have…no trust… any more in our government…they do not seek the good of us, the people any more! So all is said…
@ Why so negative and read my comment again! I said it‘s one the richest country world and also in percentage the country with the most millionaire, which is just a fact and I also mentioned that‘s why the world thinks we are all rich, which is NOT true at all! I know that we have many people who worked hard and still have a bad pension after all. And I mentioned besides the highest average salary we also have the highest cost of living! I everything mentioned that just read my comment to end, before you think you have to argue with me. You don‘t have to tell me or teach me how hard it is to work. I’m not dumb. Yes I‘m young (Gen Z) 24 years old, but working already for 4 years 100% Many of the older generation think, that most of us don‘t wanna work 100% anymore, which is also not true (because the majority of my generation works 100%) and maybe or for sure our generation has to work even longer than until 65 or maybe there is no rent in the future anymore. Still I‘m staying positive not like you. That’s the advantage of our young generation we grew up already in this society, so we see it different and our future more positive than older generations like you. The generations before were thinking the same about the other younger generations, which is unneccessary. Than there are some bored or frustrated people (maybe with even good retirement) who still want argue in a negative way to my positive comment. No one asked for your negativity. You don’t have to tell me what the swiss background is I’m 50% swiss. I grew up in a open minded swiss family not conservative racist people like you. What do you mean with post-christian, so u basically wanna tell there is too much foreigners I know that. Yeah that‘s true, but the society has changed all over the world. In a reverse way thailand and philippines are full of retired swiss, germans and american. It is how it is. In the nowadays world crisis and wars your only concern is that we are a post christian society??😂😂 Wake up and go to a 3rd world country and you see what real problems are, so better be thankful that we still live in the country with the most less problems compared to most other countries in the world. You better need to go explore the world and see the positive thing of other cultures and not only the bad thing. Because swiss people in foreign countries are not even better. I know that for a fact that in thailand and philippines that some swiss foreignes also have no respect and were violent towards thai women. In the last 1-2 years there were not too less these kind of cases coming from swiss men. If you don‘t believe it. Icould send you the links from 20min and blick news. Before prejudice about other ppl better look in your own mirror, because swiss people are also not that perfect. For example also not the most welcoming and friendly and you are a good example of that, because I tried to comment in a positive but also realistic way about switzerland. Most people agree with me and there are people like you, who want to add something in a negative way like if I don‘t know switzerland good enough. In my Generation we say nörgler/bünzli/mimimi comment. Luckily also the younger 100% swiss people are not going to be like that anymore.
Sucht is correct. The Swiss railway operator (SBB) has sold all of it's participation in nuclear energy decades ago. Also, when SBB buys electricity in the market, it is not possible to know the origins. So SBB buys certificates of origin to render any grey energy completely hydro.
In Switzerland, about 60 percent of the electricity produced comes from hydropower. As a result of the reactor accident at the Fukushima nuclear power plant in 2011, Switzerland voted in a referendum in 2017 for the nuclear phase-out.
That, and the nuclear power plant of Mühleberg mentioned in the video is already shut down as we speak, and both reactors in Beznau are planed to be taken off in 2032.
As a Swiss person I really recommend the video from michael without a path. A lot of other videos just glorify the country but he shares things he likes about Switzerland that I really agree with and also things he doesn't like.
on 6:10 these mountain is the matterhorn. One of the most famous in the world and in switzerland, also you maybe have seen this as a symbol on the swiss chocolate brand Toblerone. Also you can see the matterhorn as a symbol to many other stuff, logos etc. But the mountain from paramount is not the same. Greetings from switzerland.
The Matterhorn isn't on the Toblerone anymore, since a lot of it isn't produced in Switzerland anymore, but in Slovakia. Therefore it doesn't count as a Swiss product anymore. They're not allowed to use it and they had to replace their tag line from 'of Switzerland' to 'established in Switzerland'. Same as Lindt, they produce (inferior quality?) abroad to keep up with global demand. And mainly to maximize profits.
@@_nicetunes2790 bro it's about why the matterhorn is well known besides his beauty. Bcs it was seen many as a symbol, in movies etc. I know that it is not swiss product anymore and also not anymore the matterhorn symbol.
You went to the moon, we stayed with our feet on the floor and do not like to walk. 😂 We also have 7 people who run the country not one, we have 10 major political parties going from left to right. Imagine we, the people of Switzerland, even go to vote if the government wants to buy fighter planes or build the tunnel you've seen in the video. The reverse of the medal is also to mention. For example you know Deep water orizon? The Plattform who exploded in the golf of Mexico? Yep, the head quarter is in Switzerland so as Glencore and a bunch of other companies. Nothing to be proud of, but guess what, we made an initiative and the people will have to vote if those companies will be kept responsible for their pollution around the world.
For the explosive things: yes they took out the explosive but they just put it in a bunker and they have a logistic organisation to just put them back in time when needed.
Absolutely the best infrastructure in the world, both in terms of quality and construction. Perfect roads and public transportation. Little to no corruption, the only country with direct democracy. Outstanding social structure and the best medical infrastructure worldwide. A great and globally leading education system. The quality of food is extremely high, as is the overall quality of life. The only problem we face is that no matter where you travel, it can hardly be better anywhere else. The only exception so far has been Japan, where I genuinely felt that certain processes and public transportation were even better.
Idk man, I work as a teacher and our education system is really behind (seeing how students fail to write properly etc.) and it's just sad how many cantons decided NOT to join HARMOS which would've made things a lot easier. Teachers having to take on tasks that shouldn't be within their job description and thus overworking themselves (especially now with the shortage of teachers). There are too many teachers leaving due to burnout. And regarding roads etc.: It takes ages to get things built here because of so many laws and agreements (some of them being good and others just being insufferable). It's literally roadworks everywhere and sometimes I feel like it's getting as bad as in Germany. Then we have SBB....oh boy....their quality lessening with each year while still raising their prices. Don't get me wrong, I love my country but it has many problems and the things mentioned in the video are only half-truths.
First, i am from Switzerland. Nice to see you had fun and had so much positiv reactions. But there are some things that are just 70% correct. Everything has a flipside.
the rules are really strict and as in nearly every other country is money and a illusion of "safety" more important thaan the Nature. switzerland is a perfect example how the system works. people are adddicted with consuming, they ddont want to leave their ccomfort and they are afraid from problems cuzz they never had, never learned how to fight or how to make peace. better get over your fears before they get over you. maybe this words helping someone:)
Yes, exactly. But one of the four - Mühleberg - has already shut down in 2019 (Security Problems. One of the reactor's wasn't safe enough anymore) Mühleberg was the oldest one and a lot of it has already been builded back. 😉
05:20 one of the nuclear energy plant is already in deconstruction (Mühleberg). We do not plan to keep them running. There are efforts to replace them with water, wind etc.
It was decomissioned in 2019. And they forgot that we have beznau 1+2. So we actually had 5 until 2019. The only reactor going off the grid in the forseeable future is beznau 1 in about 10 years, as its the worlds oldest reactor. Liaba gruass
Problems people mention is that visually impaired can struggle with trams as some tramways are embedded and no separation exist from the sidewalk at many places, which can allow them to walk on them by mistake. I would say that I love the environmental friendliness but the summer heat is killing me here... ACs are not common and they started figuring out new solutions but there is a long way to go. I would say also that for a rich country, Switzerland limits itself a lot on housing capacity. Most main cities have protected areas that wont allow building upwards (as to not ruin the picture perfect view over the historical part) - which I respect but also hate at the same time. This is a very great country and once you live here its very difficult to move away, but I would not say it "has no faults" and "top" at everything. But honestly the people who live here can vote on anything and most of the issues are managed vie such votes. And the people who live here are usually well informed and dont make rush decisions without thinking about the long term future. Which also reflects on how popular it is to have both 2nd and 3rd pillar retirement savings here and even some extra emergency savings.
maybe you already have them on the radar... If you found these facts interesting, you need to check out swiss gun culture and its insane defense systems (connecting to those explosives in bridges e.g.). Also there are loads of videos on trains and their punctionality and our tunnel building. Then there is tourism, Skiing our education system . You will be amazed what such a tiny country can do.
So as usual in this youtube "documentations" there is quite a bit wrong. -the highway network is 1 549 km instead of 1 900 km (almost missed the fact by 20%) -nuclear is not renewable energy - at least for european standards -Energy mix (video has missed the numbers quite a bit): 52.8% Waterpower 36.4% Nuclear 9.4% Renewable beside Water 1.4% Fosil - Switzerland has voted to shut down nuclear. So we dont plan to keep them running. - the "longest and prettiest" Tunnel was never equiped with explosives as the tunnel is pretty new and all these explosives on infrastructure were removed from 1991 - 2014. This would be right in the older days for the older and shorter Gotthard Tunnel. Nit-picky? This documentation is all about "facts about switzerland". So.... I dont understand how this simple facts are so often wrong. Almost everything you can find within the first google results - source ist mostly the federal website. Facts mather.
This is possible because of huge investments from our goverments into our infrastrructure and many thing are controlled and ruled by our goverments instead of private billionairs.

The mountain is located on the border between italy and switzerland. In italy (italian) called Cervin, in switzerland (swiss-german) called Matterhorn.

80000km2, which is quite small. In our geography class, we learned that by the alps taking up lots of space, this number is decreased for space to build things, as a Swiss person, I can say Switzerland is very unique in that way, but personally I wish I would’ve stayed in the US
5:52 normal its called Matterhorn and is the most fotografed mountein in the world so it is thery famous. its located in the south of swizerland. sorry for my bad grammer
You assume right my friend. Switzerland is 230 times smaller that the US and about 13 times smaller than France. You probably saw the mountain in Disneyland where they reproduced the Matterhorn that happens to be one of the most famous mountain of the alps, perhaps of the world and is located in between switzerland and Italy. The most famous side of it, the most seeing on pictures is the swiss side.
Switzerland is the land of weed. In the 90is you could smoke pot in all these nice trains at 6am riding smoothly to work or to school and nobody gave a shit😅
Great video, next step - come visit and experience the beauty of the country yourself. Minor comment but if you are making movies looking at foreign countries, you should probably know that your peace sign at the end is similar in England to giving someone the middle finger in the US. However the English tend to take less offense at nearly everything than Americans so more of an FYI 😉
Hi, you should travel to Switzerland once. Take the airplane and some good creditcards with you and enjoy one of the most beautiful contrys in the world without a sea. But some lakes. Many of them...🙃
I am Swiss, and I am pretty astonished. I appreciate your enthusiasm, but I do not see much relation to reality here... E.g. the Matterhorn only looks like this from Zermatt. Look at it from the Italian side...

It’s funny watching this, i recognize eVEREY picture of Zurich, btw, hi from Switzerland
the rules are really strict and as in nearly every other country is money and a illusion of "safety" more important thaan the Nature. switzerland is a perfect example how the system works. people are adddicted with consuming, they ddont want to leave their ccomfort and they are afraid from problems cuzz they never had, never learned how to fight or how to make peace. better get over your fears before they get over you. maybe this words helping someone:)
5:58 i think you mean the paramount intro😂 greetings from switzerland🫶🏼
Im already here for a long time and I love to see people reacting to the nation where Im from. If you have any questions just ask.
verry nice video good research. One thing i noticed... it decidet to shut down our AKWs, but later in 2050.
C est une mauvaise idée, il faut en construire des nouvelles 😎
That mountain is the Matterhorn (near my hometown of Zermatt)!

The Cervin (Matterhorn) is the mountain that inspired JRR Tolkien’s Lonely Mountain.
first of all yes Switzerland is way smaller then Germany. This Mountain at 6:00 is the Matterhorn probably the most famous Mountain in Switzerland.
The Paramount mountain isn't this Swiss Mountain (Matterhorn)
This Swiss Mountain is the "same" as in Disneyland
😂 its not from a movie. Its the Matterhorn in Zermatt, Wallis. Its a beautifull mountain.
Greetings from Bern Switzerland
06:10 Probably you also known the toblerone chocolate which uses that mountain in their logo. Greetings from switzerland
maybe you already have them on the radar...

Switzerland is roughly 1/4 of the size/area of Florida.
My hometown lucerne was in the video 🥰🇨🇭
Cher charmant américain, nous avons un chocolat « Toblerone « qui reproduit le design de cette montagne , le cervin, bonne annee, santé et bonheur ❤❤❤
-the highway network is 1 549 km instead of 1 900 km (almost missed the fact by 20%)
-nuclear is not renewable energy - at least for european standards
-Energy mix (video has missed the numbers quite a bit):
52.8% Waterpower
36.4% Nuclear
9.4% Renewable beside Water
1.4% Fosil
- Switzerland has voted to shut down nuclear.
4:50 Why don't you just google the size of Switzerland instead of guessing? It is much smaller than all it's neighbours.
except Liechtenstein
This is possible because of huge investments from our goverments into our infrastrructure and many thing are controlled and ruled by our goverments instead of private billionairs.
Yes, learn a lot about Switzerland and visit. It's quite expensive. But the USA has gotten expensive too.
I'm Swiss and live in Bern, (Capitol of the country). I also lived in New York City for almost 10 Years and l loved it. I left my heart in
New York City......
Bern is not the capital, its the defacto capital, switzerland does not have one as it is written into the constitution
Bern ist nicht die Hauptstadt, es ist die Bundesstadt. Kleiner aber feiner Unterschied.
Hi from Switzerland 🎉
the size of switzerland in a relation for someone from america. kansas ist aproximately 5 times bigger then switzerland.
Switzerland is way smaller than Germany or France, keep that in mind!
So i ame Swiss and i Hope you Donut mine for riding in german
5:50 : this is the Cervin, a famous mountain in Switzerland and it's used to be the emblem of the Toblerone chocolate :3
Falsch, der Berg heisst Matterhorn
The mountain is located on the border between italy and switzerland. In italy (italian) called Cervin, in switzerland (swiss-german) called Matterhorn.
@ It's Cervino in italian actually. Cervin is in french.
2024 Switzerland has taken again the first place in the global innovation index (for the 14th time in a row).
If now you are jealous on Swiss people , please like, this comment
Looking at the Matterhorn and its called paramount (movies)
80000km2, which is quite small. In our geography class, we learned that by the alps taking up lots of space, this number is decreased for space to build things, as a Swiss person, I can say Switzerland is very unique in that way, but personally I wish I would’ve stayed in the US
Paramount- the production company you were thinking of
but its not the one in the video :) the on in the video is the matterhorn and its on the toblerone chocolate
The paramount mountain is not the matterhorn that we see in this video
Switzerland is very innovative as well. It has the most patents registered per capita in the worl!
5:52 normal its called Matterhorn and is the most fotografed mountein in the world so it is thery famous. its located in the south of swizerland. sorry for my bad grammer
Yeah...of COURSE we have taken out the explosives, i swear😉
Paramount picture. But i think this is mount paramount. AS on the Video ist the Matterhorn.
you're welcome bro. you have too see a video about the Swiss military.
It’s not a movie it is real mountain Matterhorn
I've suggested two videos to you that are about Switzerland. Hope you'll watch them soon - they are superior.
Switzerland is the land of weed. In the 90is you could smoke pot in all these nice trains at 6am riding smoothly to work or to school and nobody gave a shit😅
Right, i miss these days. Like rolling coffe shops😄✌️
This is the MATTERHORN........
I have seen my city 10 times in this video
Very well done video --- well done ........
Hi, you should travel to Switzerland once. Take the airplane and some good creditcards with you and enjoy one of the most beautiful contrys in the world without a sea.
But some lakes. Many of them...🙃
Switzerland is just about as big as Vermont and New Hampshire combined
Here 🙋🏼♀️ I‘m Swiss
No, Switzerland is not one of the biggest countries in Europe. It's one of the smallest countries in the world! 😊
You are so right in every thing you say.........
The mountain is the Matterhorn.
Hydrogen Power is over 50 %
6:05 No it's not the one with the lion! It's the Matterhorn
Im from Switzerland
there is a great video about swiss gun culture. made by amereican...you would be shocked
Naaa, the mountain is the famous Matterhorn.
By the way, check out the daily Show clip of "so many guns" in Switzerland 😮

1 swiss franc is worth 1.10 us dollars
We are a very small country.
Are you thinking of Paramount Studios?
❤🇨🇭 Züri
Thanks for the good video. Its time the world understands our perspective on life. Wanna know more about CH. Chat me up :)
I am Swiss, and I am pretty astonished. I appreciate your enthusiasm, but I do not see much relation to reality here... E.g. the Matterhorn only looks like this from Zermatt. Look at it from the Italian side...
😍♥️🇨🇭
i like video but you need a better mic ^^'
Hi from Neuchâtel
Im Swiss 🫡 better designed then the most yes. But its faraway from perfect. Because, we still have leftis😂🤣
Hey I don't like them either but without them we wouldn't be a democracy 😂
@Seefay i know😭
