Haha, I moved there back in 1998. St Albert to be exact. I lasted a couple of months then asked for a layoff. I moved to Calgary and lived there for 10 years. I think living in Edmonton is like living in an industrial park. Thats just me.
I wish the management would have left the team the same as last year for one more year... they had great chemistry and got themselves to game 7 Stanley Cup final.... I feel strongly that team would do it this year... too many changes happened and trying to get used to each other.
Nurse is an agent of chaos. That's not necessarily a bad thing; you need some chaos out there. He definitely needs a steady, positionally sound shutdown guy as a partner. I expect the Oilers to be in the market for a bona fide top 4 RD at the trade deadline. Emberson will do fine on a 3rd pair with Kulak, but throwing him out there beside Nurse is a huge ask for someone with so little NHL experience.
Could Darnell Nurse slide in on the top line with Bouchard and try that pairing again? Put Emberton with Eckholm as I think Eckholm with new guys seem to develop better with Eckholm as a mentor. Could these be the top two pairings, at least give it a try for a few months to see if it’s viable?
Nurse numbers might not reflect his salary but neither are his defensive metrics. It's not really his skill at either end of the ice it's his skill for the salary he makes. He's a #4 dman and that's it. But for some reason he was paid like a #1. T hen you add in Kulak, Emberson, Dermott, none of t hese guys are every day NHL dmen they are fringe AHL/NHL dmen, one of those 6/7th healthy scratch guys is what they are and you have one playing on the 2nd pairing and the other two playing the 3rd pairing every day. That's the issue with the team in a nutshell.
lol, they bridged him, they could have signed him for 8x6, but he put up #1d numbers, top 5 in the league...that was the rate. Subban in Mont, won the Norris while on a bridge deal, 9 million, Price, on a bridge, wins Vezina > 10 million, watch buch win the norris and the price will be 11 mill
some presence, 6-0 i dont think hes the kind of presence we need. he has never won anything, hes over paid/under preforms. he lacks effort and energy. its like saying the dude that smoke 10 packs a day is drunk before work but is buddies with everyone is the best presence for the work
Double digit in goals every year with no PP time. Averaging 38 points a season after his ELC. He is a way above average offensive player especially considering he does it all at even strength.
Nurse is big, fast, tough, has skill.. but his identity is shot.. he’s not a shut down guy, he’s not a big physical punisher, he’s not a offensive d guy.. he has skills to be any of those.. but.. he needs to pick a game and run with it
This must be the old Darnell Nurse before his concussion issues. Now he has run out of just using his athletics to get by and he looks lost most of the time. Playing hurt at the moment and he would be best served and the team, if he went on LTIR until he is 100%.
I soooo miss Edmonton. Loved living there. From Sydney, Australia. Let's go Oilers!

Enzo is an awesome guest. Thanks Tyler!
In the off season, try Nurse on LW. Can someone teach him to make a slap shot from the point?

Nurse is not playing with a full deck. He's got all the tools but his decision making is questionable at best.

Wish you could restructure contracts in the NHL
You should of put Frank’s take in this to.

Yep. Broberg was way better then Nurse.
i concour if connor wants that cup, he will ask him politely to leave

He doesn't fight anymore.
I wish they asked why cant nurse by hybird player

Darnell……is a tough, dependable defender…….he has never been an offensive producer, and expecting that at this stage of his career is pure folly.
Not true. He led defenseman in goals during the bad cold lockdown season.
Now he just sucks at everything

Lmfao "tough, dependable defender", "never been an offensive producer"...? I think you need your head checked pal.
@MillaTime69 he must be a Nurse p.r. bot. Haha damage control
Nursie 7.5 mill minimum, ouch
DUHnell!
What's there to explain how hockey isn't his thang. Admit it he's no good. Put yr glasses on.

@shakeypudding6563 that's probably what it is. His brain is sputtering.
Nurse has mastered the art of being a pylon. Kneeling on the ice. Facing the wrong direction. Not reading the play. Screening his own goalie.
He has some of strongest even strength scoring metrics in the league for Dmen
