    My uncle Evert Sheble sang bass for them in the late 30's and early 40's
    I would love to get a record of him singing
    He was the bass singer
    He died before he was 30 from Cancer

    The two men on the right. R.W. Blackwood, singing baritone, James' nephew and Bill Lyle , the bass singer. R.W. was replaced by his brother Cecil Blackwood. Bill Lyle was replaced by J.D. Sumner.Thanks for your interest. I remember the day that we got the news of the crash in Clanton, AL. I shall always remember that day.

    The crash Bill & R.W. died in was in June 1954. This is a great video. I have it on a vhs tape which I recorded from a special about the history of gospel music. In this video, who is the singer on the far left?

    • @PreservingMemories2
      @PreservingMemories2  10 лет назад +2

      The high Tenor is Dan Huskey. He had a high range but you will admit that he was no Shaun Neilson but nobody is.

      Eddie Schantz Bill Shaw was the tenor the bass singer Bill Lyles was the one who died in the crash along with R.W blackwood. that's why Cecil blackwood and JD Sumner joined

      Matthew; Thanks for your correction. I knew better than that when I posted it. It was Bill Lyles andR.W. that died in the crash. I must have been half asleep when I posted that.

      Can you point out where in the Bible it says to dress up in order to go to Church? You can dress a pig and it's still a pig. You can dress a sinner and it's still a sinner. My point is this, just look decent when attending and I don't think God cares how you look.

    • @knottreel
      @knottreel 2 года назад

      @@jerrybutler605I wasn't saying that men are Biblically required to wear suits to church. I was pointing out how different the social conventions are between now and then. We could stretch the point further. How would you react if your preacher decided to preach while he were wearing PJs? Does the Bible forbid that?

      Yes RW and Bill were pilots and flew their plane to concerts.. that night they were to sing with the Statesmen Bill and RW along with a friend took the plane up for a test run or something to that effect (you can find James Blackwood talk about it ruclips.net/video/qxmS97gBMh0/видео.html anyway something went wrong the plane stalled and they crashed killing all three... Jake Hess had to hold James back from going into the fire.. horrible.
