Given her flawlessly dominant exploits over the 60/100/200/4x1/4x2/Sprint Medley, it was never in doubt! Julien's dominance must have contributed to Britton's decision to attempt that historic 400m/400mH/4x4 Triple @NCAAs who in her mind saw it as the only way to realistically compete for The Bowerman in what was going to be her final NCAA season before turning Pro. Would've been really interesting to see who would've won The Bowerman if she'd pulled off that Triple esp if she did it all in NCAA Records. Unfortunately for Jasmine Moore, she needed to have won both LJ/TJ in/outdoors all in NCAA Records to have stood a chance. Leo Neugebauer needed to have won the Heptathlon @NCAA Indoors with a 'Top 10 all-time in history' performance/score like he did in the Decathlon @NCAA Outdoors to have stood a real chance against Jaydon Hibbert.
Merlene Ottey is the Jamaican king ping of sprinting. (Queen pin)lol. She’s a true legend. Having a 30 yr old indoor record of 21.87,from 1993 to date is just pure legendary ❤.
Her stride length is pretty insane compared to the competition of similar height. She seems to buy that by landing a bit far in front, almost on the heel at times. So, the bad news for everyone else is, she's seems to have room for improvement even. But maybe she keeps her style bc vertical hip movement is virtually non existent which clearly works in her favor. One damn fast runner!
Good call. I observed her top end speed mechanics could stand to be better. It looked like she had added some new steps in for the NCAA finals, but it reverted to her usual in the last several strides, but for a moment, she was "gliding". I'm sure she will add that to her arsenal and do it right. Like you said, foot striking ahead of center of gravity nearly on the heel is a lot of room for improvement.
She could, she's great in the 100. But she was in the NCAA this year, so she ran way too many races to be competitive with the best of the best internationally. She'll do better when she can aim her training at the big year-end events instead of running races every couple of weeks.
PLEASE MAKE A VIDEO ABOUT JAYDON HIBBERT AS WELL. I know you are a track channel but you have made countless videos about crouser, mike powell and Jonathan Edwards.
When Andrew Riley did not win the bowerman after winning the 100 and 110H for the first time in NCAA history and didn't win the bowerman, that award has no credence.
I have never don't track and field in my life but watching this video i gotta ask how safe is it that they go as fast as they can then have to stop even faster so they don't run into a wall. That seems a lot odd to me.
I'd like to see her blood work. For someone not training like a bodybuilder and being so young she has pretty massive delts and shoulders. Not impossible to achieve but still pretty rare.
NCAA sprinters rarely do well in Worlds, they're just too worn out from a long season. She'll do better in the big year-end events as a pro. Fantastic season, though.
On the “Stuff”… without a doubt… only a handful of women have ever broke 7.00 seconds… Tyreek Hill ran a 6.77 in the 60m… take a look at those names on that list … see Marion Jones - Juiced… this woman dropped .20 off of her indoor time in one season Juiced… let’s call it what it is
She is .ore than deserving of the 2023 award but I do not think she had anywhere close to the best sprinting season in collegiate history. Look to JessevOwens in 1935 or Wilma Rudolph on the late 50s and early 60s. While Alfred is faster than Rudolph's times, her season does not begin to compete with Rudolph's.
Wilma Rudolph set the world record in the 200m dash in 1960, she won the gold medal at the 1960 Olympics in the 100m, 200m and 4x100m dash. She also won the AAU championships that year as well in those events. So yes she was slower but she won everything in existence in collegiate track that year, set world records, won gold medals in the Olympics. Yeah I would say that was a significantly better season that Julien Alfred had last year. @@lauriebriggs9705
Okay but...another foreign recruit taking a scholarship from a US citizen. And, giving them high level training to later use vs. USA sprinters in international comps.
thats my gripe with modern sports like what is the point if we just all recruit the fastest people we can from all over the world. or like the nfl why even have teams represent cities when the players are from all over the country idk for me it just makes it about who has the deepest pockets which if thats the case the athletes should just represent themselves
Total running productions you have something to learn. Sprinting is all about max speed. The 60 and the 200 are basically the same. Both are highly dependend on ones max velocity. especially for women!
Christian coleman is the greatest 60m sprinter ever and he's nowhere near the top in the 200 meters. The 60 and 200 do require different skills to be successful, especially on the outdoor circuit, and while there's slightly more overlap on the indoor scene it's still quite different across the events.
It don't think so. Coleman don't run the 200 seriously. But if he did he would be running sub 20s easy. Similar as Powell. He just didn't ran the 200 seriously. Having shorter limbs is indeed a problem for the 200 but not for the 60. But there are basically no good sprinters with short limbs (Su excepted). @@TotalRunningProductions
Why don't coaches train their athletes to think the finish line is actually past the true finish line....so much time is lost with the dip at the finish line! JUST RUN PAST IT AS THOUGH IT IS NOT THERE!
11.25 at 14 without spikes and blocks is a world-record level time. If it's true, then you were one of the fastest 14u runners in history. Depending on your age, that may have been a 100yrd (not meter) distance --- which is still an outstanding time w/o shoes & blocks (which likely means you didn't have years of world-class training.....so yeah, excellent time). Lastly, if this was a hand-recorded time, which obviously it was, could be off by over a half of a second.
@@ralphungi11.24 as a 14 year old without shoes or blocks is possible tbh the fastest time by a 14 year old is 10.51 by sachin dennis and even if the 11.24 was hand timed it would roughly be around 11.3-11.4 if converted electronic
She did not fare as well against the professionals at the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest. She qualified for the final of the 100 metres and finished in fifth place. She also competed in the 200 metres at the Championships, and qualified for the finals finishing 4th. Is this the big frog from the small pond syndrome? I wonder if Alfred's testosterone levels been verified as below the legal maximum.
You mean to say a non-Pro student athlete after a 45 race NCAA/Pre WC season went to the WC where she ran another 6 races for a 51 race season didn't end up beating 3 - 4 Pros who by the start of the WC hadn't run half that amount of races AND also happen to be among the fastest in the history of the sport?! Interesting to note who you choose to give a pass to. Also, any thoughts on Lieke Klaver's physique since you seem to be such an expert?
