- Many drivers have a potentially life-saving system in their vehicles but do not know what or where it is, or even how to use it. The eCall system - short for emergency call system - is a safety feature in most newer vehicles to connect to emergency services. The system is mandatory for all new passenger cars and light commercial vans manufactured from April 2018.
New rules in The Highway Code to make roads even safer now include the use of eCall. Road users can press the #eCall_SOS button in their vehicle to communicate their location directly to a 999 operator if they are unable to reach an emergency area or hard shoulder. eCall is also an alternative way for disabled drivers or those experiencing a medical emergency to call for help. The eCall system provides a vehicle’s exact location and direction of travel to a 999 operator, meaning police, fire or ambulance services could get there quicker.
eCall SOS could save your life. Locate the button. Know when to use it.

Yay for more surveillance equipment!
Yay for a system that calls for help and tells your coordinates, when your car lies upside down in a ditch, with your unconscious, injured Body inside of it.
The sim card is inactive before calling. Location is sent to local PSAP
People complaining while posting selfies are amazing...
Interesting that the comments have been hidden by National Highways so people can't read what other people have to say about this tracking technology.
If you have a phone, you are already tracked. Move on.
@@antonio.mineiro you can leave your phone at home but you cant do that with your car if you want to be alone.
