- La force des œuvres pour clavecin laissées par Domenico Scarlatti tient tant dans le génie musical de leur créateur que dans la puissance émotionnelle qu’elles dégagent. Une pléiade d’images, de sensations et de couleurs éclate à l’écoute de ces pièces pour qui se laisse aller. Jean Rondeau, en interprétant la Sonate K 132, paraît ainsi ouvrir la porte sur une scène galante, transportée par des élans amoureux qui mêlent pudeur et urgence.

Le Théâtre de l'Usine, situé à Saint-Céré en Dordogne, est une ancienne fabrique de bagages entièrement rénovée en 2016. La bâtisse éblouit tant par son architecture impressionnante que par la qualité de l'acoustique dans la salle de concert.
Dans le cadre du projet de France Musique « Scarlatti 555 » organisé au sein du Festival Radio France Occitanie Montpellier, où 30 artistes reprennent au fil de 35 concerts les 555 sonates de Domenico Scarlatti, le Théâtre fut sélectionné pour accueillir Jean Rondeau.
Ce musicien acclamé, lauréat de nombreux prix et spécialiste entre autres de la musique de Johann Sebastian Bach, interprète le 18 juillet 2018 une quinzaine de sonates du maître italien sur un clavecin Philippe Humeau.
Concert donné le 18 juillet 2018 à 19h30 au Théâtre de l'Usine à Saint-Céré dans le cadre du Festival Radio France Occitanie Montpellier.

Avec Jean Rondeau, on redécouvre et on écoute "d'une oreille neuve" les sonates de Scarlatti ...Quel plaisir, quel bonheur et quelle émotion !
Magistral.
A gripping, mesmerising, and highly personal performance of a unique sonata; the tempo is perhaps slower than most of us would ever have considered, but Rondeau’s supreme sense of musicality pulls it off spectacularly.
The decorated repeats are a model of sensitivity and taste, with lots of ideas I am unashamedly going to steal.
The sonata is redolent of the atmosphere of a garden in a Spanish royal palace with the sun shining through the leaves on the trees, the birds singing, the insects buzzing, and with water gently splashing in a fountain, and …(complete your own image).
Arguably, this is my listening experience of 2023; it might in some respects not suit some listeners, but it suits myself very well indeed; bravissimo.
Wunderschöne und gut phrasierte Aufführung dieser perfekt komponierten Tastensonate im lyrischen Tempo mit klarem doch etwas anmutigem Klang des technisch perfekten Cembalos und mit künstlerisch kontrollierter Dynamik. Wahrlich intelligenter und genialer Cembalist!
Hinsichtlich Satzbau und Wortwahl gewollt anspruchsvoll angelegter und aus zwei Formulierungen bestehender Kommentar auf der Grundlage eines Ungleichgewichts: Die erste kann in ihrer Addition von 27 Wörtern mit gutem Grund auf Kommata verzichten, die zweite, eine in den Mantel des Imperativs gekleidete Ellipse, kommt mit 5 Wörtern aus, kann jedoch auf ein Ausrufezeichen nicht verzichten. Disharmonie als Kompositionsprinzip?
It's hard to describe the effect of Scarlatti's music on those who love his music, especially on the harpsichord. But here its depth is perfectly captured. Thank you. Please record more.
I think Rondeau is the perfect artist to bring out the hidden depths of Scarlatti's music that many others seem to skirt over. I know some players like to emphasize the "modernity" of Domenico's music by employing the grand piano, but I am a stickler for not loading the dice in this way. Perfect match for the harpsichord in my book, especially with this musician...like strawberries with cream.

. Il tempo è dilatatao al massimo. I rubati....tirati all'inverosimile.

Con il pianoforte non si riesce a sortire questo effetto.
I like the slow character of this sonata, Scarlatti was really a gifted composer who, unfortunately has very often hidden is talent under his braggadocio style virtuoso compositions, who were made just to impress and did never transport any soul to me 🤷♂️
Those dissonances at 1:38 are just delicious
I can often enjoy Rondeau. This is not one of those times.
This sonata is very special, and sound just as incredible on a piano.
Great interpreter, but an "overdose" of rubato, in my opinion. Tempo and metronome should still have a clue in music, it's not an optional...
But because of the rubato used, the piece of music comes to life!
