    Anyone considering a P50 might instead look for a nicer spec'd one than this one reviewed here. The 4K IPS screen is quite sumptuous and has more color accuracy than most high end laptop screens. Pantone color calibration hardware option. Xeon processor also available. Dock or Thunderbolt 3.0 will connect with external GPU. Also the P50 caddy for a 2.5" drive (cable included) is under $15 from Lenovo, and the M.2 drive one is $9. Free shipping.

    Got one of these six months ago for $150USD. The only difference is that it has a Intel Xeon E3 1505 CPU. It just had 8GB of RAM and a 128GB SSD. I've added an additional 64GB of RAM to bump it up to 72GB (there's an additional 2 SODIMM slots under the keyboard. That's where you'll also find the WIFI card which I upgraded to WIFI-6E and Blutooth 5. I also added an additional 1TB M2.NVMe. In total I spent an additional $200-250USD on upgrades but it's quite a monster for $400USD total. It almost makes the weight bearable; almost...

I have got the Intel Core i7 6820HQ Version with the Quadro M2000M, 16 gb and 512 gb ssd, i upgraded to 32 gb and I do NOT regret my purchase. It is still a very powerfull machine. For the about 1000 Euros i paid, I would also get a similar powerful new laptop, but that would not have the amazing build quality, the superb keyboard and all the ports and upgradeability. 350 Euro is nothing for what you get, even 700 Euros would still be awesome...

    Recently my Lenovo P50 Laptop suddenly won't turn on. It turns on for only 1second, with the green power button and keyboard lighting up for 1 second, then it immediately shuts down. When I plug in the power supply, the green light on the back of the computer lights up when I have the battery installed. So it doesn't seem to be a power supply issue. I searched all over the web for solutions & tried doing power drains, unplugging/ plugging in the battery & power supply, running with just the power supply, running it with just the battery, & both battery & power supply. I did the CMOS battery resets, removing HD & ram then trying to powering it on, but I get the same result.
    Have u ever dealt with anything like this with any Lenovo laptops you've worked on? Do u have any possible solutions? Please let me know. Thanks & have a nice day.

      Sounds like a hardware issue. Take it to a computer repair shop:and have them look at it. If the quote is more than $250, you’re better off replacing it. That said, it can’t hurt to determine what the issue is and see if it can be fixed.

    I've been using a Thinkpad W530 for nearly 10 years. I just love the build quality and upgradability of it.
    Is P50 still tough as W530 and still have good durable screen hinges?

    • @Qrani
      @Qrani 11 месяцев назад

      I have a W510 and a P52 and have used both a W530 and P50 as well. The P50 is more rigid, but not as durable. However it's still pretty much the most well built modern ThinkPad. The hinges aren't as good as a W530's, but those 15" CS09 ThinkPads have the best hinges of any laptops I have ever used so. The hinges are still fine on the P50.
      It's pretty much as perfect of a replacement as you can get for something like a W530, even if it has its issues. The 1080p displays in them are pretty bad (and awful, compared to the 1080p one in a W530), even if they're IPS. For build quality the only issue I have is that the lid isn't very rigid on them, though it's still better than basically any other modern laptop.

    • @Qrani
      @Qrani 10 месяцев назад

      @@HamadMalik-zt4lc They probably are alright. I haven't gotten to use one yet so I don't know much about the build quality on them. Performance wise they're alright, and the CPUs are pretty decent. The GPUs are, well, not very good. Even the top spec Quadro K2100M isn't great. Something like the Dell Precision M4800, the W540's competitor from Dell, offered a much better AMD GPU option (one of the only times where AMD was actually better, and significantly), and even had replaceable GPUs. Anyway even the bottom spec GPU (M1000M) on the P50 is over twice the speed of the top spec GPU (K2100M) on a W540. And with how expensive W540s normally are, you could usually buy a T480 for the same price and get a CPU a tad better and an IGPU practically just as good, that will be smaller, lighter, and get better battery life. The W540 1080p display is also awful, it's a 45% NTSC TN display, significantly worse than the 1080p panels used in the earlier W Series machines and later P Series machines.

      The G602 is nice. I don't like the macro buttons on the side even though I should. I have a G402 on my desktop because the buttons are more quiet than the G502 (not a typo, I'd have a 502 if I wanted one). My favorite mouse of all time was the Corsair M65 (not the expensive one, the mid-range version), and only because it's less clicky than the G402. I wouldn't be surprised if I tried the M65 again after all these years and wanted to go back to the G402.

    In a workstation, you can go with a dual core processor to save weight and max battery life or you can choose a power hungry sucking quad core cpu to efficiently process all your demanding work. The P50 is the second one and it has a weight penalty. If you do 3D CAD, engineering drawings, math computation or heavy video editing, then its a niche workstation up to meeting your expectations. If not, go for a lighter ultrabook workstation; you won’t be giving up much.

    • @XanarchistBlogspot
      @XanarchistBlogspot Год назад

      In other words get a just plain non workstation ultrabook if you are just doing writing, light photo editing and web surfing. Ok fine but these lightweight less well made, unupgradable laptops wear out and wind up in a landfill after a couple of years, whereas a maxed out heavy workstation laptop can go more like 8 years. I get why you said what you said, but it is sad to me people would rather have light weight and long battery over quality, performance, and the longevity upgradeability brings.
