- The new POCO F5 is here and it's the first phone in India with the new Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 processor, which is surprisingly powerful.
We compared the 7+ Gen 2 processor versus 778G, 888, 8 Gen 1 and the results are pretty surprising.
The POCO F5 has launched in India at a starting price of Rs. 29,999.

The POCO F5 has launched at a starting price of Rs. 29,999. What do you guys think of this 7+ Gen 2 phone at this price?
28k would have been better.
That was a blast here
that side mounted is a big no
20k is more than enough due to govt. Cut the rate of gst on smartphones, tech stuffs😊

1. 8 bit display means, each three channels r, g, b of every pixel has size 8 bits, which means they can have 2^8 values, for three colors it's total (2^8)^3 = 16.7 Million different triplets of (r,g,b).
2. 10 bit display is same math but (2^10)^3 = 1.07B
3. 12 bit (2^12)^3=68.7B
aight, big brainzzz 🤓
Why are we doing 2^ something? Why the 2? Can you elaborate?
2 states for one pixel. on or off. 2^10 shades of grey and ^3 for rgb values for a 10 bit display.
Bit means binary digit, so we're talking in terms of 0 and 1 which is only 2 digits in total, so any calculation involving bits would use 2
Unfortunately, it's all useless, if the video you are watching doesn't have the colour information.
For example, if you are watching an 8-bit video (which is mostly the case), you won't have any benefits of 12-bit display.
There are hardly any videos that are in 10-bit. It might take a decade before we get to see 12-bit videos and that's gonna take much more storage or bandwidth depending on if you are playing it locally or streaming online.
Great and detailed. Thanks for sharing all the details a few reviewers miss out on like plastic back. Kudos 🎉😊
A fingerprint sensor is what it does regardless of where it is. I don't understand why most people classify in-display sensor as premium. They are expensive yet does the same thing. Dunno whoever promoted this trend but rear fingerprint sensors are super fast and can be programmed to take selfies, swipe notification bar and other stuffs which in-display sensors can't.
Furthermore, reviewers become happy when they see 3.5mm jack but gets disappointed to see rear fingerprint sensor and side mounted one. Come on man, ain't most people using earbuds now? If they can buy 20k phone, then they can obviously buy 2k buds.
The only upside is in display fingerprint makes the phone's design cleaner and premium.
Same reason why people prefer touch screens over physical buttons, it's modern tech and has an aesthetic appeal.
Also physical fingerprint sensors are way more secure than optical in display fingerprint sensors.
@@abhrajeet841exactly what I was going to say, and yes they accurate and my phone unlocks most of the time using face unlock so I use my underdisplay fp very less

As a long term poco f1 user who recently to k50i I'm still happy with it and the display is not bad either for an LCD display. I use this device for ps2 emulation and it works flawlessly. Phone rarely heats up and that too not too hot. I'm looking forward towards Qualcomm's answer to Mediatek 8100

I feel like the pattern on the back of the phone would look better in black color, making it look like forged carbon fiber, which actually looks pretty cool imo.
Really surprised by the headphone jack though. I also prefer a side mounted fingerprint scanner.
Good phone overall.
Used Poco X2, was super happy, exchanged it for Poco F4 (Got 10k exchange value for a 2 years old X2) again, super satisfied. Will exchange F4 for F6 next year. 😬 I heard a lot of issues about Poco, but personally never faced any in 3 years with 2 phones.

Oh my god, this phone is totally for me. As someone who haven't used a flagship phone ever, due to those being costly and not coming with a headphone jack, this would really fit me as i appreciate hi-res music and have a bunch of discography of my fav artists. Also i happen to be a guy who don't want the phone to drop from my hand, but the phone drops anyways don't know how. This has a plastic back, aluminium frame, a headphone jack, and flagship performance. i am bout to die.
What bout UI ??
@@Sobha9972 custom rom...plus poco launcher is well optimised even being miui
@Anirudh i dont mind the ui, i have the habit of disabling all the preloaded apps anyways in my phones, and use a launcher like lawnchair or the og nova. Soo, yea.
@@plaguedoctor_ yea man, i can just imagine the unofficial support of this phone in the future. Much excited.
So do your phones motherboard🤣
I have had the Poco F2 Pro for close to 3 years and I still love it. MIUI 14 really knocked the screen performance and overall speed out of the park (it,s terrific!). The SD865 is still brilliant, 8k video at 30 or 25 fps; it's 60 hz screen fluency and animation surely cannot be bettered by any 120hz display.
Unfortunately it's coming to it's end of life support. I have MIUI 14 but Android 12, and though security is still pretty good (1 February 23) that's not going to last much longer. I also bought the M1 10 Lite 5g a month earlier also from Xioami direct (UK here), update it as a spare, and that has been droppped earlier i.e. MIUI 13 though on Android 12, but security is only to October 22.
SOohhh .....
I passed later on the F3 and F4 because I then couldn't afford them. I think the F5 non - pro seems a great phone, especially if /when the price comes down. No proper Macro I'm not big on cameras.
I'm a bit of a nerd for Geekbench artificial scoring so I'm impressed with the 7+ gen 2 and glad it's ranked highly.
No 8k but again more of a nerdy comparison than something I actually use.
181 gms will be a blessing after my 220gm F2 Pro beast, although you get used to it. First phone I put a temepered glass and spigen case on out of the box.
Hopefully I can get one (min 256gb here too) when prices drop lower than the temporary launch deal of £379 from £449 now.
2 further OS updates ( I assume in 2 years) and 3 years security is not great, as that's what I have already and is ending - and xiaomi models offer longer support - but it's enough.

Now I'm confused whether to continue with the poco brand for its value for money factor or to avoid it for its notorious motherboard issue that people are complaining under every phone review videos I'm watching recently.
I loved how GI has become benchmark for gaming performance test for every Phone 💪🏻
I mean it's literally the most graphic heavy game on mobile phones rn. So no surprises there tbh.
I love the back cover design visually.. it's so cool.. it being plastic hmmm might not feel premium, enough
After 3 months of using this device, I can confirm that everything said here is true. Tbh, I didn't expect Poco to clap this hard. The processor is a beast but skilfully tamed and friendly aka,no heating issues unless used while charging.
My friend has the 8 Gen 1 which he sometimes compared it to the Tensor G2 (Pixel 6) due to severe overheating.
I'm glad I bought this while i was on a tight budget and I'm willing to hold on to it until the next Redmagic 9.
How is the poco f5 display clarity bro?
how bad is the camera bro?
I don't get the hate for side mounted fingerprint sensors. They are superior in every way to in display ones.
Way Faster
More secure compared to camera based sensors in most in display phones (except s22/23).
More ergonomic, ie, can be used with multiple fingers depending how you hold/pick up the device.
& the best point it keeps the net price down of the device
Because when you pull out the phone you dont necessarily want to unlock it. When in a car or when i have my music or when i take a walk i dont want my phone to be unlocked every time i want to see something on the screen like the time, the music player, my notifications, and so on. In some cases i just want to press the button, see the lockscreen and what is going on and then if i need it i will unlock it. I badly despise Xiaomi, Redmi and Poco for still putting these crap side mounted sensors, because every time i have one of these i simply dont put any password, because its annoying me really bad. When i have the in display fingerprint ? I put it every time because i can do whatever i want to whitout having to constantly unlock my damn phone. Also, yeah pls do not talk me about that double tap to wake up or any other sensor based wake up method because i am really fed up with phones that turn on in the pocket and start doing anything.
@@alexgreg152you could just... Tilt your fingers to turn it on using your nails? wtf are you talking about
@@yeetmcyeetson8822 I didn't because that's not how i am supposed to press on the button. Plus it's not comfortable at all and i don't like doing it. Also when in the pocket sometimes i unlock my phone just in grabbing it, that's garbage and that's all. Even the ones at the back were way better and hopefully this nonsense will be finally over when all the phones will have them onto the screen.
I want a phone to watch movies and tv shows and this phone looks great for that. I have to agree with the design of the back of the phone. It's definitely an acquired taste. I would have preferred it If they left it plain. Looks like a fabulous phone though. Great review. 👍

2:37 math is.
The display comprised of 3 colours RGB so in 8bit display each colour is represented by 8bits so RGB together it is 24bit, hence 2^24 = 16.7 Million.
Similarly for 10 bit each colour is represented by 10 bits hence total will be 30bits that is 2^30 = 1.02 Billion and so on

I'm genuinely surprised how smartphone manufacturers are not launching camera centric phones in every price range. Everyone is hell bent on performance. However, majority of average users want a decent performance and best camera.
Ssrly like there are no such apps available for your phone to get the optimal performance from its chipset, you don't need a very powerful phone as there is nothing you will do with it that would challenge it like a laptop, instead make an overall performer with decent chipset camera battery etc

Been using POCO F1 since last 4½ years. My biggest gripe is the os MiUi. The F1 had two major updates of Miui 11 and 12. And the latter one is worse than than the previous update as it lags quite often. Otherwise the phone works fine. I use Gcam for Camera which just transforms it into pixel quality camera. If the Xiaomi changes its OS like Samsung did with one UI, i would have considered the F5. I'll pass it for some other 7+ gen2 phone. Also, it's crazy how inflated are the price of midrange smartphones. POCO F1 was 19k back when it launched and was bang for your buck. Can't say the same for any new midrange phone.

I agree on the software front though, i like clean minimalist os, don't know about cameras..

I understand why they did so, but that doesn't mean I like it. A 1tb 7+ gen 2 would mean the F5 pro would have no buyers, so goodbye 1tb😢 I find the Pro as a better buy as you get WQHD, a flagship chipset (8+ gen 1), 5100mah battery, wireless charging and 12gb +512gb storage(fast storage too). REALME GT NEO 3 is selling right now for 28k.
It has 50mp IMX 766 with OIS and Dimensity 8100.
BOTH PROS OF CAMERA AND PERFORMANCE🔥🔥
bro 5 days ago it was 19k i missed the deal.
@@Adityalighter-tw9gj That was GT neo 3t bro.
I'm taking about just Realme GT neo 3
Poco F5 has 64MP OIS camera.
Poco F5 has 7+ Gen 2 (which is CLEARLY BETTER than the D8200)
Poco F5 has headphone jack, GT Neo 3 doesn't...
And all of this for 29K, just 1K more than GT Neo 3...
Realme has gt neo 5 se, which is way better than that
@@antifanatics7765is that launched in india?
Rather than going for flagship phones, a well optimised phone with 7+ gen 2 with stock android preferably is what most people would prefer. Hardly 5% of the population require the flagship performance of the 8 gen 2 processors
Exactly what I thought.. I would love to use this chipset with Nothing or Samsung or Pixel.
@@Anandhapandi wish the "to be launched" pixel 7a came with this chipset
@@sumit55468 I think it was with tensor G2.
@@sumit55468 pixel phones with SD chips lmao, maybe in your dreams
@@vishnuvaradhanmoganarengam9234 kya bey? Pehle pixel phone sd ke saath nahi aata tha kya? Pixel 1, 2 ,3, 3a, 4, 4a, 5, 5a? Ye sab kya tha?
The Poco F5, why not, but the F5 Pro is too expensive for what it really is.
It is better to go on a OnePlus 10 Pro / 11r, a Motorola X40 (in many markets it costs €500), and very often you can find the Oppo X5 Pro for less than €600.
Ps: on the other hand, both are clearly much better deal than Samsung's A54, especially the Poco F5 👌🏽
The only thing that could get me back to Xiaomi and support Miui is a K30 Pro Zoom with a 120 hertz display and at least a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1.
Please please tell me about the dialer, and the call recording feature
Gud job bro
motherboard left the chat 😂😂
Just like your maturity

Dont buy midrange buy flagship level instead 😅
@@himanshubijlwan3261😮😅😅😅😅😂😂😂😂😂
similarly like 870 vs 888 where 870 is more optimised and good performer I think 7+ gen2 is more optimsed like 870 Qualcomm have luck in number 7 🤪
